There were a few automatic updates - between Microsoft and Dell - and now there is no "rotation" button in the Win10 panel and automatic rotation no longer works - only manual.
How to resolve?

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a part number for a dell studio 1735 screen "frame". This part is not the screen bezel (NU486) that snaps onto the back cover. It is also not the back cover (N269C) nor the screen (H678G) nor the Hinge kit (N795G). I am looking for a part number of the thin metal frame around the screen. it has 2 screws on the left and right side of the screen and has another screw for each of the hinges. Please help. i spent hours with Dell Parts online chat and they couldn't find the part number.
Something very odd about memory and this laptop. It is almost as if there is 1GB on-board over and above the two DIMM slots because when I put a single 2GB DIMM in it says there are 3GB or memory installed.
Anyway... what I was trying to do was upgrade the memory. It says 8GB max but I can't figure it out. It came with 1 - 1GB SO-DIMM and 1 - 2GB SO-DIMM and the BOIOS Says roughly 3.5GB but when I put 2 - 2GB SO-DIMMS in the amount of memory the BIOS reflects does change. It is like the max configuration is 1 - 1GB SODIMM and 1 - 2GB SODIMM. Has anyone been able to take it beyond that?
These things aren't really old enough to have a 3GB max. What's the story?
I have an Inspiron 3737 laptop that will not recognize it's original or any dell power adapters. These adapters will charge other dell laptops without issue.
The computer will run on adapter, but will not charge the original or a new battery that I just purchased
I have updated bios and all drivers and don't know what else to do at this point.
Anyone else have similar issues or a solution?

I'm thinking in ugrading my old but good XPS 15 (L502x) from the original 750GB HDD to a drive of higher capacity.
So my question is: up tp what capactity will my laptop support? for example a 2.5 7200rpm 5tb?

My employer has provided me with a Rugged 14 Latitude.
I want extra drive capacity utilizing the MSATA slot and ordered them accordingly. Additionally I wanted to swap the hard drive so I can run a different OS. I originally spent 4 hours on hold and my home phone battery died waiting. I used my cell phone calling different Dell support numbers only to get transferred to another number and another person to talk to. I have spent at least 10 hours talking to representatives, getting transferred and when my order was placed for parts they were arbitrarily cancelled! Dell is a very dysfunctional company who cannot support their own products that are advertised as current products. This message is being sent on the laptop that I am asking for parts/support for. I am extremely angry!!!!!!!!!

for the last month or so I'm having this weird problem:
when I move the computer (from my lap to the table, or something else), or more correctly - when I move it while its on and logged into windows, the computer "jams" and resets...
looks (and sounds) like the HDD plates are moving and causing it (it happens mostly when I'm moving it while holding in the area of the power button (which is the HDD area).

Does anyone else have these two Unknown Devices in their XPS 13 device manager? I don't recall removing anything that would cause this and the system can't find any device drivers for it nor does updating the drivers from the dell web site resolve it.
There isn't any current function that we're using that isn't working so I'm not sure what category of thing these are and the hardware ID's aren't of the expected format so they don't reveal anything either.
Everything is unplugged and wireless is turned off(airplane mode on) so these are not external items.
My 2 month new Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop keeps going in sleep mode or shuts down unexpectedly while working on my computer. It's easily re-started, but it's very annoying.

We have had Kindles for years, love eInk. Please consider putting a tiny eInk display on the outside cover to show remaining battery so I can tell if I need to plug it in! Maybe also show if OFF or SLEEP; it uses no battery when not updating!
My wife loves her 17" Dell laptop - an eInk display updated every hour or 6 would use almost zero battery, but anyone could glance at it and plug it in.

Hello. My wife has an Inspiron 15 laptop. It had Windows 8 on it. Shortly after the warranty ran out, the hard drive started to go bad - bad sectors, etc.
I would like to put an SSD HD on the machine and reinstall Windows. The old drive was an SATA. I do not have any Windows License install disks. I do have a backup image of the full hard drive with all of the recovery and image partitions intact - from what I can tell anyway.
1) Can I buy just any SSD SATA drive and install it into an Inspiron 15 with all of the existing hardware or are there limitations and/or changes I need to do?
2) Is there way I can use the backup recovery and image partitions to re-install windows on the replacement drive.

Upgraded a rusty-but-trusty Vostro 1000 to Windows 10 64-bit. Found that an old Radeon driver for Vista 64-bit seems to work fine...and everything else was recognized by Win10 and works great.
The touchpad though is being a pain in the ***. The default Win10 driver doesn't recognize the scroll regions on the touchpad...I tried a Synaptics driver, that seemed like it worked for a while, then the cursor got real "sticky" on the screen, to the point where it was unusable.
Found a Dell driver for related models with a Vista 64-bit version...installed and seems fine, but again has no options for enabling the scrolling. I think the device is actually an Alps touchpad...
Anyone have any idea of a good driver for this thing that would enable scrolling?
I have a two Latitude E6410s, and both have the same disastrous characteristic of wild cursor skipping at the slightest touch - apparently anywhere on the keyboard. I have tried all basic suggestions as posted, but is there a definitive solution? Many thanks... Robert in Boulder

Installed a new hd in my Vostro 3750, Validity Sensor not working after fresh install of windows7 The driver installed fine and appears to be ready, but finger scanner is not being seen by Windows, any help out there? thank you
Updated my Inspiron 11 3137 to Windows 10 by doing a clean install. I installed all drivers from the Dell Support site for Windows 10 x64, including the Dell Touchpad Driver v19.0.15.2 (A00) listed. I configured the touchpad settings as I had them in the prior OS -- with the 2-finger scrolling enabled. It worked fine but now has issues in Win 10.
In Win 10, scrolling works fine in Google Chrome and Nitro pdf reader only (that I've tested, at least). In Internet Explorer, and all the "modern" aka "Metro" apps, scrolling does not work. When I make the scrolling gesture, a little scroll-type icon shows up but nothing happens (see pic attached). I tried resetting the touchpad settings and I tried uninstalling / reinstalling the driver, with no luck.
Suggestions?
