Trying to understand what happened to my Dell XPS 14z screen

My laptop was working perfectly fine, in fact it still is. There has been no physical damage to it ( no falls or anything ) While I was using it, these random ink blotch things appeared on the screen. When I checked online, a probable diagnosis was that the inner LCD screen has cracked. However I would like to confirm this. Also, what is the solution to that problem?


Studio 1537 doesn't boot

Hello everyone, I hope somebody can help me with my issue. My Studio 1537 doesn't boot up anymore since yesterday. Hitting the power up button will start the Notebook, the lights in the quick bar light up, the harddrive rattles, the keyboard lighting turns on and that's it. The CPU fan doesn't spin and nothing else happens. It will just stay like that and I can only turn the Notebook off. There are also no beeps. Now when I start it up with holding the FN button I will get some diagnose information at least. The 3 volume buttons in the quick bar are displaying the following state: Volume Mute off, Volume Down blinking and Volume Up permanently lighted. Unfortunately the diagnose info posted in another thread doesn't feature my combination. What does this diagnose combination mean? Thanks in advance.

Vostro 3400 - Backup and Recovery

I have 7units of Vostro 3400 which bought on the same time (same spec & configuration) and I want to do a backup recovery disc that works for all of the 7units.

1) First I use DVDR x 2pcs to backup and when restore through Dell Backup and Recovery Manager - it prompt file not found

2) Then I use a 8GB Pendrive to backup and when restore through Dell Backup and Recovery Manager - it also prompt file not found

a) First unit prompt factory.wim (\Dell\Image\Factory.wim) not found so I change the content from factory.swm to factory.wim then it manage to install but half way ask for DVD number "2" so I change the content of my 8GB pendrive backup another two .swm to .wim then restart the recovery all over and this time is works till the end and my first Vostro 3400 is fully restore to factory software with all the drivers perfectly installed.

b) Second unit prompt Backup.swm not found and is in different directory/folder "\\DellBackups\Backup.swm" so it still prompt the same message went I change factory.wim to backup.swm so I create a new folder and copy backup.swm in it then restart the Dell Backup and Recovery Manager again and this time it works but half way ask to install DVD number "2" so I just click next and it ask for DVD number "3" then I try click next again but it stuck there (it shows "Next >" already been click but just stay there) even pressing Esc button doesn't work which is different from the first unit when I press Esc button it will reboot and there is not prompting for DVD number "3" when I click on "Next>" icon. I force shutdown as the "x" doesn't work and also the on/off switch.

My question is how do I make a set recovery discs that works for all my 7units of Vostro 3400?

Dear Dell Community I live in TRinidad and Tobago I have a relative living in the US who is returning to Trinidad on Aug 16 th I asked her to purchase an Inspiron motherboard for me with the # submitted she contacted YI FAN LAN it was paid for but they are asking for model number,HCC number,what kind of card it carries and a pic of the motherboard is there an easier way to source the information without taking out the motherboard? the computer came to me without the sticker which carried the info they are asking for could you advise me because one agent I once contacted only asked me for the # CN-0DF047 I need some assistance ASAP because the shipment has been delayed because of this.

Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition restarts at first startup

Hello,

Since a couple of days when i startup my laptop it instantly shutdowns like crash and then restarts, it happens when the laptop is almost done with starting up applications and stuff.

After that it doesnt happen until the next time i start it up. 

I cant give further information but that the disk speed is like 100% for like 10 min in the begin because of service host network restriction proces and mcafee auto scan proces, but i dont think it has anything to do with that.

webcam not listed in device manager, error message "PLEASE PLUGIN A SUPPORTED WEBCAM!"

Im using LatitudeE6400, running windows 7 64 bit.

My dell webcam central just shows the camera interface with error message "PLEASE PLUGIN A SUPPORTED WEBCAM!"

The webcam is also not listed under device manager

I have 2 main issues with my Dell N5520 Ci7, and one query

Issue # 1.            LCD have many Bright spots on lower portion.

Issue # 2.            One USB port is not working.

Query # 1.            What is the purpose of 3 buttons on upper right corner.

I couldnt agree more with "it is embarising"....

My Harddisk was fried so i had to reinstall everything after getting a new harddisk...

That would be no-problem if your software works! For my Dell Vostro 3550 it says there are "53 files updates" when i search on your website....

So NOW that this stupid Automatic Software *** dosent work i have to go through All 53 to see if they are what i need for my computer to work!??!?

THis is STUPID - FIX the software!

I've just re-installed EVERTYHING on an entire new harddisk so dont give me ANY crab about "try reset ur browser blabla, try another browser bla bla..."

TRY the software yourself on your machines! Does it work, Dell? No? Thought so.... 

Fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or i will NOT be buying a dell again and i will NEVER recommend it to anyone...

Delay for Parts Replacement - Disappointed

I had my inspiron n5010 diagnosed as motherboard complaint as it had 7 beep issues.  Since the processor already replaced, tech soon spot it as such.

Processor replacement was kind a fast, with 2 to 3 days.  Now its 3 weeks since the motherboard replacement is in place.  Most days dell support calls me and informs the part is not available.

I need this urgent as my work is going to have an impact due to this.

Can this entire thing be replaced for once.

My Latitude 10has no HDMI port..mini or otherwise and Dell refuses to help me! I was charged for one product and was sent a lesser one .Customer care absolutely Does NOT care!

Keyboard installation-missing functions

I replaced the keyboard on my Ispiron B120 due to a broken shift key. I used a Dell new replacement, was very careful with the connection and did not experience any problems. When I powered up, I found that my Space, Enter, Backslash, and Backspace keys weren't working. I  re-installed my old keyboard and now found the same keys not working. This sounds like a bad contact on the keyboard connector but I have very carefully removed and re-installed the ribbon plug, cleaned connections and examined both plug and jack with a magnifier. Everything looks OK but the above keys will not function on either keyboard. The ribbon plugs from both keyboards fit nicely in place, with the side tabs where they should be, before the cover is snapped down. I have called up the on-screen keyboard from Windows Accessories and every works on this one.

I would very much appreciate suggestions.

Continually will not start and then when it doesstart it will freeze up and have to be restarted.  Been that way from the get-go!! HELP!! HELP!!

I have recently got a dell Inspiron 15. windows 8. Not even 6 months ago. And the battery at the back keeps getting took out if I set it on the table and move it around. it dies. It's happen so often. but I just ignored it and push the power on and worked fine again. but this time, it's not letting me go in. The menu comes up but they bring me to a ramdisk drive boot cycle and it won't let to continue any further... I'm so lost. Help...!!! I need a code or something.....this this sucks.......

Extremely slow Latitude e5520

My laptop is (recently) extremely slow - especially any network activity (web,
Outlook email, etc...) Other PCs on this domain are running fine.

Dell Latitude e5520, i5 Processor, 4GB RAM, 230GB Disk, Windows 7 Pro

Connected to a domain.

Fixed disk does a lot of thrashing.

What I've tried thus far:

Format / reinstall Windows 7 Pro

Defrag

Run AVG Antivirus nightly - No issues

Run Malwarebytes - No issues

Run CCleaner.

Windows Update is on.

Chkdsk - Pass

Dell Diagnostics - Pass

Clean inside / outside

Safe boot w/network - No change

Clean boot - No change

Any ideas? I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Thanks!

5 days and still dell can not help unlock hdd password inspiron 3520 ! aug5th- aug 8 4 hours spent on phone 12 calls so far under warrenty

im about to sent the unit back to dell because im getting pissed i cant do anything why should i have to go buy a ne wharddrive and reinstall windows to use my laptop thats under warrenty

i first called about a bios password that was given thank you very much but after it was erased the bios that is now i am being presented with a hdd lock 3 times and it shuts off no error code this is not a 595b legacy system i am familiar with dell  but this is more work then requesting a carrier subsidy unlock

i have completed all tasks asked of me i was told i woul dbe given a call back yesterday witch i never received 8/7/2013

now im waiting for a call back today 8/8/2013 it  is now 11am  12mins and 21 sec to get a rep on the phone now they just answered

SO, my mom brought me this wonderful laptop for Christmas 2011. It was the last Christmas gift I was to receive since going away to college, I was too old for gifts. So for the remainder of High School and the Beginning of my Freshman year in 2012, I used this computer for course work and a little fun with Sims. The Sunday before my 10 page Term paper for psychology was due, like 10 days after my warranty with Dell was up, I awoke to find my beautifully working laptop not turning on. I called my schools Tech Lab they couldn't help and I also called Dell and since I was no longer under warranty they wouldn't help. For the longest time I thought I kept it on the charger too much and the battery just died out. I had no time or money to get to the root of the problem so I set it aside for a while and just utilized the wonders of the schools library. After a while, I got too tired to walk to the library EVERYDAY and the library closed too late to finish all night studying, I needed my laptop back and working. So i called Dell again hoping that they would at least tell me what is wrong. It was not the Battery. Apparently my Motherboard had crash or something. I barely had it for a year! How could this happen! NOW! My laptop still looks brand spanking new even now in 2013! I know my mother paid a arm and a leg for this computer, it was still cool in 2011. I can barely afford to pay my tuition let alone buy an entirely new Laptop. Desperate, I scanned Dell.com for answers as to why this happened to me or even to leave a nasty review under the laptop in the sad attempt to keep people from going through this stress. Come to find out, my poor insprion 17r n7110 has been discontinued... Indifferent... Why didn't Dell tell me this when we we're on the phone? They had my service tag number so they knew EXACTLY what kind of computer I have. What rotten luck that this happened to me. My sister, whose Dell Laptop is wayyyyy older than mine, still works when she got it her Freshman year. She's going into her Senior year with that old thing still working. I thought to give Window computers a chance, after all I am an Apple Fan, but after my Dell experience, I'm not giving them another chance. My only question is how much do you think I can get for this thing so I can work on Financing a Mac Book.
