I bought my Alienware 15 in last August and it has been a blast to use. Until recently. I accidentally spilled a small amount of water onto the keyboard. An hour or so later, after I noticed this happened, I took it apart, gently wiped away what water I could find that leaked through into the hardware (motherboard, I believe). Then I set it up to dry in front a fan for two days. I proceeded to put the laptop back together only to find it will not turn on at all.
I am stunned that this happened and I don't know what to do next. 1600 down the drain? Or is there a way I can find relief in this embarrassing despair?
Alienware 15, water spill.

Dell Precision M4800 Factory Ubuntu Image ?
Long Story Short, Where can one Obtain the Factory Ubuntu Image for the M4800 ?
My M4800 Came Pre-installed with 12.04 LTS, and it ran great, but for some reason I decided to allow it to perform an "inplace" upgrade to the next LTS 14.04. After that numerous functions failed to work properly often requiring command line to launch applications and settings panes, clicking on the icons would not work. I would like to revert it back.
Dells Driver page for the computer only lists the Driver package ( which fails to install on a standard Ubuntu 12 install with the dell recovery and driver installers from the official repos, trying to install each driver .deb individually also tends to start throwing errors rather quickly)
i tried the image here linux.dell.com/.../precise
however it simply fails to even complete booting, usually getting stuck after detecting the GPU.
I made a Recovery image when i received the computer, but so far have been unable to locate the thumb drive used.
If someone has a link to the disk image i would be grateful.
Dell Vostro 3500 SATA HDD Interposer

It seems very specific and extremely hard to find.
Can anyone help?

Inspiron 15Z 5523 BIOS re-write or downgrade
I recently upgraded the HDD in my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I restored the HDD from a Windows 10 backup image and all went well. I discovered that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology was not working. In the course if trying to get it working I inadvertently changed the SATA mode setting in BIOS for from Intel rapid storage to AHCI. I realized what I had done and restarted right away to BIOS and changed it back. Since then getting the laptop to boot is hit or miss. I won't get the Dell boot splash unless I cycle the power repeatedly until it displays the Dell Logo. then it boots fine. I've run the tests by hitting Power+Fn, everything passes. I've put back the original HDD, same problem. I've run the motherboard diagnostic on the Dell support site and it passes. I've taken the machine apart and removed the main battery and the CMOS battery. The problem remains. When it is working it runs all the time without any issue, until it hibernates or restarts. Then I have trouble getting it to boot again.
I'm out of things to try so, in case there is BIOS corruption, I'd like to re-write the flash BIOS but the flash utility 5523A05.exe won't let me write over with the same version. I have a copy of flash version 5523A03.exe as well so I'd like to try downgrading to it.
Are there command line switches that can be used to force the BIOS to flash. I've tried adding /forceit and /s /f from elevated command prompt but neither of those work.
Is there a way to force the BIOS to re-write or downgrade?

Inspiron 5558 Driver Update Versions
I am updating an Inspiron 15 5558 with the lastest drivers manually using the Service Code and Express Service Tag. I am not using the Dell Update utility. I have found several of the drivers /updates on the Dell site have either the same or an earlier version number than my laptop, but the Dell release date may be more recent with some files. Also, some files on the Dell site are the same version with an A00 suffix. The BIOS file seem to be consistent. What is the latest file - file version or release date?
Upgrade Dell Precision M4600 from Windows 7 to Windows 10
Has anyone had any luck upgrading their Dell Precision M4600 mobile workstation from Windows 7 to Windows 10? I have tried twice (two months apart) and it has failed both times. It seems to work at first, but then after the first power down/up I get a flashing screen during Windows 10 boot up that I cannot get past, unless I launch in Safe Mode.

Precision M4600 - Sudden loss of video + audible electrical noise (internal)
Dell Studio 1558 - Windows booting and video display problem
Most of the time now, this machine won't boot. I ran the pre-boot hardware diagnostics TWICE, and it passed all of the different tests. No video problems, no hard drive or memory errors, nothing.
There seems to be some kind of video driver problem, at least that's what the sometimes-appearing BSOD suggests. I ran a Windows repair a few times, which seemed to temporarily fix the problem - but the failure to boot returned after the machine was turned off and rebooted a few hours later. Sometimes, when the no-boot occurs, I can hook up an external monitor (no display on the laptop at all - black screen) and re-boot into Safe Mode. This laptop is running the Mobility Radeon HD5470.
This laptop was purchased directly from Dell, and came without any Repair or Restore disks.
I am thinking of somehow re-installing Windows, but I would lose the copy of MS Office 2010, and of course, no restore disks for that, either. I could retrieve the Office key, but there is no restore media with which to use it.
I read on these forums that there is a Windows Repair DVD that exists for this machine. Does anyone know how to get one form Dell?
TIA!
Laptop won't shut down and restart properly
My laptop is Vostro 5470, works with Windows 8.1.
The laptop won't shut down, the screen goes black, but the lights are on, so basically it keeps working. Pressing any buttons won't help, so I have to keep pressing power button for like several minutes until it completely shuts down.
Restart won't work as well. Insted of it laptop just shuts down with a terrible beep sound. It causes a lot of troubles, I can't even download and install new drivers cause it requires a restart, and well... that doesn't work.
Is there anything I can do about it? It's been a month or more since the whole thing started.
Alienware x17 displays won't work
Yesterday my Alienwares screen went black when I left it alone for roughly 30 min I tried restarting it but my screen still displays black
When I restart it I get no image at all not even in boot up but I can hear my computer get into Windows 10 and my skype log in pop up the screens backlights lights up but no image, for whatever reason it won't output onto a external monitor anymore either, it would yesterday, but it will still work perfectly when using the HDMI input leading me to believe the LCD isn't broken and I don't believe the graphics card is broke either because my computer does fully turn on, then again I'm not super knowledgable on computer parts.
if anybody knows anything it would be greatly appreciated, my warenty Just ran out last month and I'm really hoping its something I could fix myself. If it helps the graphics card in it is a AMD Radeon R9 M290X
