When I connect a 2nd monitor to my laptop the resolution goes higher on the second screen but only if I close the lid on the laptop So I have to keep the laptop lid up even though it's not being used. Why? and how can I correct this. Thanks

Scrolling
My old Dell D630 suddenly refuses to page down or scroll. When I open a page and try to page down, it immed[ately returns to the top of the page. I have replaced the touchpad, Windows, memory, reflashed bios, diabled the pad and used a mouse,. If I attempt to read my kindle, it will return the previous page untill it reaches the beginning. I can't do much in the bios because I cant access anything eccept the page as opened. Help

Is there or is there not a Dell Quickset app for Windows 10?
I recently bought an Inspiron 17 5000 (5758) and am trying to figure out how to extend the time that the backlit keyboard stays on. It currently goes off almost as soon as I stop typing.
If I bring up the Windows Mobility Center, there's nothing there about the backlit keyboard.
I've been back and forth with tech support, who most recently told me where to find Quickset (it's supposed to be at C:\Program Files\Dell\Quickset), but it's not.
I tried downloading a Windows 8.1 version of Quickset, but it wouldn't install on my system.
Anybody else had any luck with this?

XPS 15 9550 Base Wobble?
I am experiencing a slight yet very noticeable wobble on the front left corner of the laptop base. Every time I rest my wrist down to type I can hear and feel it "level out" on the surface it is setting on. I've checked the rubber "rails" on the bottom of the chassis and everything seemed normal. I purchased this originally on November 25th from Best Buy. The machine had faulty internals so I had to return it already and I received this machine that has the wobble. Anyone have any ideas?

Dell INSPIRON 1564 showing Operating system not found - Urgent help
Hi,
MY Dell INSPIRON 1564 is not able to start, taking around 5 mins to go from the DELL LOGO SCREEN and then in black screen it shows some patents and then showing media failure, Operating system not found.
Before this I have installed Windows 8 and Ubuntu in dual book, itvwas working pretty well but don't know why it can able to restart.
I did the diagnostic test, the test is showing DST Test- No hard drive detected.
I checked in the BIOS it's showing the FIXED HDD AS TOSHIBA W......AND SIZE OF HDD AS 320 GB but don't know why it'a not booting even I tried with window 7through USB boot when tried to reinstall windows

Video Scaling issue (XPS 15 9550)
I recently purchased an XPS 15" 9550 and after setting it up there are several programs that open into very small scaled down windows that you can barely read. I have updated video drivers and Windows 10 and no change. Dell support is had me restore to factory settings but nothing changed.
Any help would be appreciated--thanks!

I reinstalled windows on my parents system and now it keeps asking for a password and I cant get back into windows. It took me to the windows login screen once and she didnt have her user password, and now I cant get back there. It says this computer system is protected by a password authentication system. You can not access the data on this computer without the correct password. I have a password, but it will not accept it. I am at a loss as to what to do.
Any help or direction would be helpful.

Inspiron 13 7359 not detecting tablet mode change
I have a new Inspiron 13 7359 and everything works good except for when I use it in tablet mode or go back to laptop mode. It will not automatically switch modes. i have to do that manually. In the settings under System>Tablet Mode> When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off is set to
"Don't ask me and always switch."
But I have to manually enable tablet mode when I use it as tablet and then when I switch back to a laptop I have to manually disable it.

I want to upgrade Dell Inspiron N3040
My laptop is currently out of warranty (expired), & I'm free to upgrade the hardware myself as I've upgraded couple of other things before. Service tag: 88x0lp1
I have 3 questions about the laptop upgrades.
-What is the max/compatible RAM upgradeable? From what I've seen from doing a bit of research, it said 8GB (2x4).
-What is the max/compatible CPU upgradeable? I've seen some users with i3 Intel cpu, but I prefer a good GHz if possible or even better like i7.
-What is the max/compatible graphic upgradeable? I know they are onboard, and I'm willing to do those change myself.
I tried to find the complete information but I only found a manual with a few how to upgrade information. My only next thing to look at is the motherboard manual if any.

Inspiron M5040 HDD failure
Hi,
I am seeking help to find a replacement part for a failing Dell Inspiron M5040 laptop. The service tag is available upon private request. On the laptop, I ran the ePSA and the return codes are:
Error Code 2000-0142
Validation 14017
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N 224NT4C3T, self test unsuccessful. Status = 7
It appears the HDD needs replacing.
Any tips, part numbers, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Laptop not detecting any pendrive
I have inspiron 15 R 5520 and i am using windows 7 32-bit os, my laptop could't detect any USB like pen drive, mouse and modem etc. what should i do for that? Those pendrives are detected by other laptops.

xps 15 9550 cpu throttling when plugged in
I have core i7 6700hq version and noticed three different CPU power management profiles:
1) AC adapter plugged in, you turn laptop on or wake up from sleep and get steady 3,1Ghz on all cores under load.
2) No AC adapter - 2.7GHz on all cores under heady load
3) AC plugged in after system boot, CPU immediately throttles down to max 1.7GHz until I reboot it or do sleep / wake up exercise.
I checked power management setting in WIndows 10 and it's set to active cooling when plugged in but still 15W@3.5GHz.
What's wrong here?
