Hi,
I've purchased a Dell Inspiron 3521 two years ago.
Already, it has been repaired 4 times (!) and there are still problems. Let me explain:
First of all, I've replaced the HDD drive with an SSD and I've also added 2GB of RAM. (these upgrades took place after the first repair).
I've contacted the local support many times, and they do not want or they can't solve my issue. My problem is that the touchpad gets warm, and I can't use it after half hour, because I'm rubbing at a plastic piece at 50 celsius degrees! I don't know what's wrong with my laptop, but this issue has probably caused the overheat problems that led to 3 motherboard replacements!!
Each time after a repair, I called the support and informed them that the problem was not solved, and each time I felt embarrassed about asking my rights (the machine was still in warranty).
The last repair took place a week ago, where they changed my motherboard and heatsink. I called the support the next day and informed them that the issue wasn't resolved. For some reason they didn't log the last heatsink replacement, so they decided to change it again (2 times in a week).
Two days ago, the technician run the diagnostics and the laptop reached a temperature of 56-57 degrees, which I believe it's normal. They also replaced the palmrest (all the plastic part including the touchpad). Ofcourse the technician's responsibilities did not include actually using the laptop to examine if it's usable, so everything was "ok".
I've tested the machine earlier that night, and tomorrow morning I called to report that the touchpad was still warm after half hour of use, whilst the rest of the laptop was cool. This half hour, I was browsing the internet and watched youtube videos, nothing too much.
I called the support to report this (again) and they asked me to remove the extra parts that I've added (SSD + RAM) and run the diagnostics again. Not very surprisingly, the laptop reached 64-65 degrees, instead of 56-57. When I told them the results, the response was that I'd better keep my extra parts on the laptop, and they would call a supervisor.
Today they sent me an email, saying that there's nothing they can do anymore.
To sum up, I've had my laptop repaired 4 times in 1 year, and 1 week after the latest repair, I'm forced to use a mouse device and always keep my laptop on a fan base, and all these whilst using the parts that I've paid for!!
Can somebody contact me and help me resolve my issue?
Is there anything I can do or should I look for a new laptop (after my latest experience, of course it won't be a Dell) ?
Thank you in advance,
Alex
