I have ordered a new HDD, I wish to make this in same state as my current HDD, which has some bad sector issue. Is there a way to copy the files such that when I replace the HDD, it works without me having to install all the applications again.

So after getting my Alienware 17 motherboard replace 3 months after the full service warranty along with my reservation about having a refurbish mother board put in. My laptop all of a sudden blows out black smoke at which time I pull the power cord. Luckily I was present when this happen as just prior to this I was way from the laptop for 15 to 20 min.
I pull the back off to see what the heck happen and were the Wi-Fi is located it is black and underneath you can see were solder has melted and the Wi-Fi card is black on one side.
Phone tech support and informed them what had happen and was told I had to ship it back to them at which time I told them no, I want a technician to come to my house to take the unit apart so that I can see the damage first hand and when he determines what needs to be replaced that it gets installed with me present to ensure that it is done correctly.
Then informed that they could not do that and that I can either get a refund or send it to them. Are you serious this thing almost burnt my house done had I not been present. (You should have seen the black soot beneath the laptop) I am sorry my original warranty had home service so I know it can be done and I think because of the seriousness of this that Dell can at lest send a tech to my house so that I can at lest see the damage first hand.
Yes I can take it apart myself but I do not want any issues and then be blamed that because I took it apart myself that the component was damage during that time.
I've had my 9550 (i7 Touch) for about 3 weeks now and the spacebar has been one of several nagging issues.
Unless I reliably hit it dead center I get sporadic recognition of key spaces, or alternatively double-spaces.
I haven't had any luck with Dell phone support. Is this a design issue or do I have a legitimate problem on my hands?
Most of the day is spent in MS Word and Excel and the lack of a properly functioning spacebar is a severe nuisance. I've noticed the issue is worse as I hit the key closer to the sides or on the lower half (closer to the palm rest). I have never had issues with other laptops, dell or otherwise.
Do I need to call and pester phone support? Any other avenues I can pursue?
I have a problem with turning off my laptop while it's charging, when I click shut down button or press power button it doesn't shut down it just goes (I think) in sleep mode and I can't wake it up, instead I must hold down the power button to force shut down it. However, when the laptop is unplugged from the power jack it turns off just fine. The problem started when I Upgraded to Windows 10. What's the problem?

my usb3.0 functions but like a usb 2.0 speed i am transferring a movie file(14GB) but the speed is only 39-40MB/s(in my desktop usb3.0=110MB/s). I tried to see in device manager if driver is installed it says that USB 3.0 eXtensive Host Controller Driver (Microsoft) that means that the driver is from Microsoft, i tried to install the USB 3.0 eXtensive Host Controller Driver from Dell and Intel but windows says it prevented to install the driver because it cannot run on the system.

My company just bought me a new dell inspiron 14 5448 and I was planning use this laptop to run PTC creo parametric CAD software. This laptop coming without installed ATI Radeon driver, so I install the driver which provided in the dell support website. I can run creo parametric before ATI Radeon driver installed. However, after the driver installed, I can't run creo parametric and the following error message appear.
"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
Have anyone know how to solve this issue?
Looking at buying a XPS 15 9550. I can get a clean OS though Microsoft with their 2 year warranty or I can buy the same XPS through Dell with Dell's warranty but will have bloatware. Any insight on the two different warranties? Thanks!

I own a DELL laptop XPS but the resolution keeps changing every time it recovers from sleep mode or when you close it. Upon going to adjust the screen resolution, the screen becomes black for an extended amount of time. I have to restart the computer every time I need to use it. Is there a solution that can lock my resolution to the recommended settings and never have to deal with black screens?
Anybody can tell me how good is the trade market in Canada? Particularly in construction and gadgets like laptops, computers and cellphones
I've installed all available Dell updates, enabled USB PowerShare in BIOS, and fiddled with all the advanced power USB selective suspend settings. The USB PowerShare port still does not supply power after sleep or shutdown even though laptop is fully charged and on AC. Surely they tested this?!? Anybody else made it work? What else could I be missing?
Hi we have had BSODs for several Dell laptops (E7000s, E6000s) Everytime ks.sys is the file which is highlighted in the dmp files.
Anyone else having this issue? As a workaround, unplugged the logitech webcams from the dell docks and it works - no blue screens when the users undock / re-dock the laptops.
Updated the windows drivers, uninstalled / installed logitech drivers - no difference.
We have been using logitech webcams for a long time with no issues. Not sure what caused this to happen(had a windows update and a new anti-virus software deployed around the time problem started). Anyone face this issue and has a solution, would appreciate if you could post it. Thank you.

My system has been having problems for the past 4 months and have been serviced for the exact same problem for the 3rd time, and Dell Tech hasn't been successful in fixing it.
The problem it is having is that, on random scenarios(which can occur at any time), the said laptop "Loses connection" when it starts acting up. Therefore disconnecting any current internet connected applications such as Skype, and Online games.
But currently while it happens, the network connection bar is full. Meaning that it is still connected to the internet, and no problem whatsoever with the router's side (as tested on multiple devices)\
Also to add, while this problem is happening. Most applications that you try to open becomes (Not Responding)
I would like to put an emphasis that this has been happening for the past 3 to almost 4 months now.
Dell Tech tried to rectify the problem by replacing the WiFi card twice. It has been sent to the warehouse twice, and has been in-home serviced.
The Diagnostics doesn't do anything either. Both Dell Diagnostics and Pre Boot Diagnostics don't detect the problem, and I am left with a system of which the warranty is about to expire soon in the 14th of Dec, and now debating whether I should extend the warranty for 2 more years for a problem that the Techs failed to fix thrice, for these long months.
I would appreciate the help I could get here very much.

After 6 months of all day usage my inspiron 7347 get dirty, yellowish stain in the palm rest. I noticed it when it's placed under cool white light. It is ugly, and i keep thinking that it will get more yellow as it ages under my palms.
The material used in 7347 is plastic with aluminum like finish in a rubbery matte feel.
So I decided to give it a try, using soft sponge, dish washer soap to keep the sponge foamy, but not soaked wet. I rubbed on the palm rest, and the stain is gone.

problem was solved.I updated software but didn't work. I try the use Dell Datasafe Local Back Up
but computer restarting continuously and not load the files. Safe or other modes not working.

Hi, I'm having problems to install Intel(R) MEC.
It says that it has to stop installing because a serious problem occured.
How important is it to have this? I'm not sure what drivers I have installed now, but i did a clean install of windows and updated everything I could from Windows and Dell Update.

Hello. When I installed new driver for ATI HD 7450 GPU with Windows 8.1 x64 OS DELL inspiron n4050 laptop started to freeze sometimes during boot (rebooting would fix problem). I didn't had this problem before with Omega driver or Dell provided. Also later drivers made AC: Rogue view go dark. How can this problem be fixed?
