Hello.

There are 2 problems:
[b] 1. [/ b] The problem with fonts in programs by DELL. It looks like this:

Canada to explore computer industry

I am travelling to Canada to explore the industry that I work in (I am a computer engineer). I plan to visit Ontario and Alberta including the cities of Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton. In addition to visiting these cities can someone please recommend where it would be useful to visit in order order to find companies hiring computer engineers?

Dell M6800 not up to the task! Amd firepro m6100 bugs and crash, drivers problems. My review about this "World's most powerful 17” workstation with best-in-class power and storage."

I've been the owner of the dell M6800 for one year now. One year of troubles crashes and problems. The problems come from the dedicated AMD M6100 FirePro graphic card.

On the first day I received my laptop with Windows 8.1, I installed my usual CAD software and it had crashed. “The graphic driver stopped responding and was recovered”. After a week the support it turned out that turning the switchable graphics off was the only solution.

How is it possible that on a computer like that, dedicated to professionals, very expensive... crashes on day 1?

How is it possible that the only fix is removing capabilities that are advertised by dell and payed (a lot) by the buyer?

How can such a PC still be sold by dell (many years later), without any fix?

But until now everything was ok. Disabling the graphic card turn out to work just fine for me. Until I decided to switch to windows 10. The problems are back, and they are worse: they are also present with switchable graphics disabled.

When I start my computer the screen is corrupted and I have to go to sleep mode and start again. But even then I still have problems with some software and I get the message: “The graphic driver stopped responding and was recovered”.

I was reserved about the update to windows 10 however on the dell website there is a list of computers tested by dell with windows 10 and they say my computer has been tested:

http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297954/EN

And now I like it quite well, and I use the developer’s options for my work (building windows 10 universal apps with visual studio): I don’t want to go back to windows 8!

I've been in contact with the support for over 1 month now:

1 they are unable to find a solution

2 they made me try all the drivers they could find: none turned out to be correct

3 they will never admit that the product has a default and always reject the fault on me

4 they say they cannot support my system because I changed the operating system

5 they make me wait one week between each time I send a mail and I have to remind them or I would never have any news

How is it possible for an enterprise grade workstation that 4 months after the debut of windows 10 no dedicated driver is available?

How is it possible that people paying that much for a laptop are treated like that?

When it comes to selling and making money dell is all in with windows 10, but when it comes to supporting pro users, nobody’s here to help.

Furthermore, I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation here are some other posts about the subject:

But that’s not all, I’ve also have BSOD when I run torrent based application with error PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. A lot of people on the web report that this is due to network driver issue.

Finlay my 4 core 8 thread i7-4700MQ, is now only recognized as a dual core processor. This is maybe due to the intervention of a technician. He changed my mother board and my graphic card. Other than this new problem, no change with graphic bugs.

If you are interesting in buying a dell workstation, my advice to you, don’t! You won’t get what you pay for!

Now if someone has a solution, I would be glad to hear it!

If you have the same problem, please comment this post, maybe when can make dell do something.

Dell Inspiron - four beeps - no boot

Hello, I recently replaced the system board in my Inspiron 15R. The original symptom was that it had no power and as soon as a power cord was attached, the blue LED on the power cord went out. I had tried removing the battery, tried another known good cord with same result. I thought I had successfully replaced the system board but now the symptom is that it beeps four times, then a pause, then the same four beeps and the pattern repeats. I tried removing the ram one stick at a time, with same result, tried two other modules from a known working machine. I thought the four beeps indicated a memory problem but is there another issue I should be looking at?

Thanks,

Bill

Dell XPS13 (early 2015, 9343) fan sounds like a little lawnmower

My Dell XPS13 - which I love - has just started sounding like a small lawnmower when the fan turns on. Previously it was very quiet with just the sound of moving air. Now quite often there is a noticeable throb, as if something catches against one of the fan blades.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for fixing it? My 12-month warranty has 2 months left. To be on the safe side, I am considering making a claim before it expires.

Dell XPS 13 L321X - Stuck at Dell Logo

Hi,

My Dell XPS 13 laptop is stuck at dell logo. Pressing Fn keys (F2 and F12) does not help either, no response.

I do not hear any beeps when laptop is starting. No fan movement. The keyboard is working as when I use the Fn key to increase/decrease brightness, the brightness does change. The backlight in the keyboard is also on.

I have removed the battery..drained the residual power by holding for 15 secs. Reconnected the power and tried again, still no success.

I connected the SSD hard drive to a different computer using SSD adapter and I can browse my hard disk contents. After removing the hard disk, I still not hear any beeps from the laptop.

Any suggestion? Please advice.

Thanks,

Rajnish

To many problems

I purchased my laptop about 6 mounts ago and I was pretty exited finally getting away from apple.  I wanted to play games but still needed the portability.  So I thought that the  alien ware was what I was looking for.  A couple days with having it, problems with the audio and microphone started to come up and there is nothing wrong with the laptop brand new held it like it was my baby.  These problems where only getting worse people are complaining about noises from my computer.  Sometimes half way thru a video the audio will just turn off and I half to restart it and hope it works again.  I really tried to like it paying so much for it, but i would not recommend this product.  I wish that I would have returned it within the month so I could get my money back.  But I spent to long fixing issues and missed that time.  I was just wondering if anyone else is having all of these problems because I am extremely dissatisfied.

XPS 12 USB ports not working on Windows 10 after updates; should I revert back to Windows 8/8.1

$

Two year old XPS 12 received with Windows 8.0, upgraded to 8.1 and did a clean install of Windows 10 (including removing the partition) two days ago.  I have a "recovery USB" drive that I created when it was received directly from Dell (the original Windows 8.0).

Problem: the XPS no longer recognizes the USB ports.  I also have two USB hubs (2.0 and 3.0) that were working fine.  Dell says that my specific laptop is compatible with Windows 10.  I'm unable to re-connect my Microsoft mouse, Dell touch monitor (the USB touch component), iPhone, etc, etc. directly on the USB connection or via either hub.

The Dell Assistant tells me to install application (2), drivers (11), BIOS (1) and I have (in the installation order), rebooted numerous times.  However after doing all of the updates, it tells me to install the same ones again and again and again.... why is that and how do I get an accurate list of what needs to be reinstalled?

Is there a problem with USB connections under Windows 10?  I bought (and returned) another laptop with factory installed Windows 10 (Lenovo), connected everything successfully, did all the updates..... and it's USB ports stopped working after doing the Windows 10 updates.  Would it be safer to revert to Windows 8.1?  If so, can my recovery USB drive (8.0) do this, even though I removed the partition when doing the clean installation of Windows 10, and how do I do this?

Final question: is it best to get all updates directly from Dell rather than Microsoft?  I presume that Dell tests everything before making them available.  Some of the updates that I did directly from Dell (see above) told me that newer drivers were already installed on my laptop; I used to do all of the updates from Microsoft but now I installed the older ones from Dell because I assume the ones from Microsoft are not tested/supported and could be the cause of problems.  That happened to me in May 2015 when (under Windows 8.1) I had to reinstall Windows (8.0, and then do all the updates) due to a conflict of touch pad software that caused a fatal crash of Windows and continuous blue screen of death (BSOD) that was impossible to get around.

Thank you in advance for any assistance,

Bob C

Dell Inspiron 7548 USB 3.0 Problem windows 10 x64

Hi

I bought the Dell Inspiron 7548 on the February this year (2015) and i never got my usb 3.0 port working correctly.

Basically what happens is that every time I plug a usb 3 stick or an external hdd (in this case a 2.5 hdd) i get the micosoft pluged in device sound and immediately a unplug sound. This is something intermittently until I completely unplug the device. Needless is to say that the device does not shows up with stability on the computer. (Basically the safe device reject on the lower right corner of the windows bar also shows up and disappears guided by the plug and unplug sound).

I think I tried everything. From having my laptop with all the power options settings to High performance...from disabling power saving on each USB device at device manager...as well as disabling powershare and emulation at bios...as well as enabling debug mode which makes the USB 3 port turns to a USB 2 port..obviously this is not what I want.

Also. USB 2 port (the only one on this laptop) Works just fine with anything I plug.

I am leaving a video so you can see my problem:

Also a screenshot from USBdeview which you might find helpful:

hope to hear from help from you guys

Inspiron 14 3000 3452 - windows 10 can't update

I can't install the 1511 Windows 10 upgrade.  Not enough free space.

I can't remove anything, just windows installed. I tried an additional removable USB drive, still no success.

If there is no way to do all the MS Windows updates, why would Dell sell a system with only 32Gb installed?  There is no upgrade path for the Inspiron with an 32Gb eMMC  HDD.

Has anyone been successful in completing the 1511 upgrade?

Thanks,

Joe

Help me decide what hard drive to buy for my E6400

Hi,

I have an E6400, and was thinking about buying a bay with hard drive. Device manager is showing that I have "standard dual channel PCI IDE Controller" and "Ricoh MMC Host Controller". My other drive is "Hitachi HTS723225L9A362 ATA device".

I was wondering what to buy and what is compatible. For instance can I buy SATA III drives? or is that a waste or even incompatible with my controller? Can I buy the ones that say 6 GB/s ? etc etc

This is the one I am looking at right now. I can get a used one for $44:

HGST Travelstar 7K1000 2.5-Inch 1TB 7200 RPM SATA III 32MB Cache Internal Hard Drive 0J22423

Grateful for advice whether this is a suitable hard drive

I was wondering if I could put a dedicated graphics card in my dell  Insperon 3521. I saw that the dell 5521 has an amd Radeon dedicated, and that the 5521's motherboard also works with the 3521. Does the 3521's motherboard have a connection for a integrated graphics card? If so, what. Thanks for the help.

WiFi disconnects automatically in my Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop (5558)

Hi,

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop (5558) in October 2015 from the Dell store in Amazon. It was shipped with Windows 10 pre-installed (I didn't have to upgrade). The laptop is generally functioning very well and I don't see any hardware issues.

The one issue I'm facing since the time I bought my laptop is that the WiFi disconnects automatically (after a while). There's no specific time period at which this happens, but it happens nonetheless if I leave it alone for a significant period of time (anywhere b/w 30 minutes to a few hours). I mostly leave the laptop on (throughout the day). Each time the only option I'm left with is to restart the laptop which fixes the issue.

Another thing that I observed whenever this issue happens is that all options regarding WiFi don't work. For eg: I tried disabling and enabling the WiFi driver. I clicked on the disable option multiple time and it doesn't do anything. However, when I restart the system, the driver is disabled and I have to manually enable it for WiFi to connect.

Other Devices: I used to have a Dell XPS 13 before and it used to work fine and my office laptop is a Dell Latitude and it doesn't have this issue either. I also connect my phone (Samsung S5) and tablet (Nexus 9) to the same network and no issues.

Details:

Laptop: Dell 15 Inspiron 5000 Series (5558)

OS: Windows 10 (shipped with laptop in Oct 2015)

Internet: Comcast 50 Mbps

Initially it was fine, but, now this continuous restart now and then is getting on my nerves. I've tried googling for this issue a lot and played around with most settings (including setting the power setting to maximum performance, so please don't quote that solution). Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks

E6420 with Win10 problems

When I had Win10 on my E6420 I had such problems:

  • keys for brightess didn't work, I had to restart or turn laptop into sleep mode and then wake it up to make the keys work again (keys didn't work when I turn on my laptop, I had to restart it to make them work)
  • the boot time was very long. when I enter the password it takes long time to load all the startup programs,  when I got win7 it takes about 5 or 6seconds to load all programs, even skype, antivirus etc to load succesfully and then I can go. but on win10 i have to wait 15second till everything open, even skype is loading about 10second, in win7 i got it immediately, i dont know why does it take so long, unsupported graphic drivers or what??
  • in devices I have 2 audio devices which are called the same hd audio device, and sometimes one of them is automatically turned off, when i try to uninstall one, then it is automatically installed again, but then still turned off (whats the point??)

I don't know if was it beacuse not supported drivers, bios, chipset or whatever. I want to know if it is fixed now or if it will be cuz when I upgrade to win10 I dont want to restore again to win7 in due to these problems.

Any plans to fix this, Dell, so I can actually USE this warranty support to fix my XPS13 (2015) with an  increasingly defective touchpad and double spacing keyboard?

Possible to mix memory sizes on Inspiron 15R N5110?

$

I have an Inspiron 15R N5110 that came with only 3GB memory, configured with a 2GB stick in one slot and a 1GB stick in the other.  I would like to upgrade but want to spread the cost out a little.  Would it be possible to just replace the 1GB stick with a 4GB stick, leave the 2GB where it is and end up with a total of 6GB?  That should be enough for what I need to do with the machine and I figure I can always replace that 2GB stick later.  Would a 2GB and 4GB configuration work on this machine?
