Hello,

I have recently bought dell 14z 5423 [Admin Note, service tag remove per TOU and to protect the owner. ] TD, it operates at a temp of 50 deg C on small load......The laptop seems to operate fine with battery backup of about 3.5hrs+ for small load................I feel slight warmth on the left part of the keyboard.....is it OK? I also want to know what is the temperature level which when exceeded it should be considered as there might be problem on the system?

I just got my dell inspiron 5721 and I want to keep this thing in perfect running shape for college, unlike my old laptop that had a bunch of *** on it and also a rather large laundry list of problems. so first things first; how do I manage my battery. I have heard things like keeping it plugged in at all times is bad for it. when do I plug in (or unplug) my laptop to keep the battery working like new? Thanks!

Inspiron 1464 Continuos Beeps on Boot and works normall once Windows started

I have Inspiron 1464 baught in March, 2010. Was working fine till 28-July-2013. My Battery is old gives only 10-15 mins backup. But it is always connected to power source.

On 29-July-2013 continuos beep sound coming while booting and stops when the Windows 7 is loaded.

Checked there are no "Stucked Key".

Check Memory Diagnostic "No Issues"

Hard drive working Well.

Keyboard + Touch pad works well.

What could be the issue? any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I'm a new XPS12 user (Haswell version, 29Q33), and pretty happy of this laptop. But my touchpad is driving me crazy. The problem seems to come from the HID I2C driver, code 10 in the devices manager since the first update of the intel driver i did.

I tried everything : uninstall driver, reboot, cleaning the registry with 2 different softwares, reboot, reinstall driver, reboot ; manual driver installation ; desactivation or suppression of the device and reboot, windows self cleaning with loss of personnal parameters, update to 8.1 preview. Nothing makes it work.

I tried to restore the laptop with the recovery partition using dell backup and recovery, but the screen is stretched and the left side is outside of the screen, so i can't select a full recovery without my personnal parameters (I tried many times with blind keyboard shortcuts navigation)...

I know it is not hardware because the touchpad works outside of windows (under Dell backup and recovery for exemple (even if i can move the cursor outside the screen to clic where i'd wanted to :-p )

So I want to do a proper manual reinstallation of windows (i would have eventually to get rid of the bloatware anyway), but there is no windows 8 activation key sticker anywhere. I've read that it's filled up automatically during the install because it is now stored in bios... but i need the key to download the iso from microsoft. The key in the preinstalled software (extracted by a key finder) seems to be the generic dell key, so windows doesn't take it.

I'm tired of searching how to make it work ; i was going to install 8.1 preview from scratch with the genreic key they provide on microsoft's website, but I dont want to be stuck again in a few weeks when the preview stops.

So, do you have any idea of how to make dell backup and recovery work, and how to see my windows activation key ?

Hello Dell > i have just bought my laptop (15R N5520 i7) 2 weeks ago i found that the keyboard area near the processor place is producing a few heat very few >>>> and the touch pad was well , after then the touch pad begins to be hot not extremely hot but it isnt quite hot i can feel it, it is near to be 32--35 degree C .......

and my system windows 7 starts up in about 1 minute i feel it is slow

i run diagnostics from F12 and every thing was well (max proc. temp was 61 ... and max video card temp was 52) and no errors

can u plz reply me is this temp is normal and starp upspeed is normal tooo ???

I have had an Inspiron laptop for a number of years now and recently had to have a new hard drive in it so have had all the Windows Softwear etc re-installed by a professional. The built in Bluetooth does not work however. I have found out that I need to install the driver and have found the following on the Dell site. Will this be OK to install on a Inspiron that is probably 7 years old.

It's a company Laptop so I don't want it to effect anything else. I am not on any form of network or managed system, but do not want it to effect the WiFi link I have to printers at work.

So I did a fresh install of windows xp because of other issues...anyway as soon as I logged in I went straight to event viewer and under system I have the an....

ERROR EVENT ID:7000

The OMCI service failed to start due to the following error:

I also looked under application in the event viewer and got an error that reads

Hi,

ISSUE:

I have Dell Vostro 1400 and I am facing a very wierd issue. My laptop types automatically in the search or in a browser if it is open and in any application that it can type. It mostly types "asdf;lkj" like this. Again when I use a media player it automatically increase or decreases the volume to the max. and sometimes restart the player. It again sometimes automatically locks my computer.

TRIED THINGS:

1. I have already formated my laptop many times and also updated the BIOS as I thought it as a VIRUS problem. Also, I have tried different antivirus software but all in vain.

2. I have also dislodged my laptop keyboard and using an external keyboard; but this is also not working.

3. Prior to all these I have called DELL Service for support. But they also could not offer me a satisfactory answer.

Could any one suggest me something as I am not able to use my laptop.

Hi everyone,

I bought my Dell inspiron 3521 specifically in order to develop apps for the Windows phone 8.

Problem is, whenever I run the emulator I get a message that I need to enable Hyper V, AKA hyper visor.

I've tried many things, and couldn't possible understand how to enable it. I found this article:

That tells me that in order to enable the Hyper v, I first need to disable and enable various features through BIOS mode. I tried it, entered BIOS mode, but couldn't find those features, they weren't visible.

Needless to say I'm pretty pissed about the situation lol, and I would definitely appreciate the help, so anything you might know is gold to me.

Please reply and help me start my experience with Dell on the right foot...

I am struggling to update my XPS 12's BIOS.

It is currently on A04 and need to be flashed to A07

I have downloaded the BIOS 9Q23a07W.exe file.

From what I under stand the "W" at the end means it is a Windows install, but I'm not sure.

When I boot from USB drive and try to flash BIOS, it give an error message that this file cannot be run in DOS.

I can't start the system normally because there is an issue with my Windows 8, THUS I need to update the BIOS.

I have done what is asked in the driver support site with no luck

"Run the BIOS update utility from DOS environment, if UEFI Boot mode with Load Legacy Option disabled Non-Windows usersRun the BIOS update utility from DOS environment, if UEFI Boot mode with Load Legacy Option disabled Non-Windows users"

I have tried to create a windows Live CD, but it will not boot into the CD.

I have tried to boot to a Linux flash drive and run the BIOS, but no luck.

I have even extracted the BIN file and ran the Flashit utility but still no luck.

now last time i was here i just got smartasses who thing they knew everything but didnt know the one thing my problem an it wasnt from the lack of tellin them what it was just no one read now this is simple i re-installed windows 7 pro (WITH THE COPY PROVIDED) set up all the drivers an background deives but when ever it goes to sleep (NOT SHUTDOWN) the moniter doesnt come back (I have a 2nd monitor pluged it an it does come up but comes up as the only one pluged it. i mean the inbiuld one is showin up at all. now i'll probable fix it myself before anyone here could even read this (as in bad spellin) but hey cant heart to try

I'm trying to re install windows 7 to my inspiron 1564 and when it gets past the button that says install now it tells me i dont have drivers for my disk drive on my flash drive so i downloaded the drivers from the dell site as an exe and put it on my flash drive went to the folder it was in and it still told me i didn't have them, can anyone tell me what drivers i need and how to get them on there. I'm trying to install using my flash drive

So, I just installed new RAM in my Inspiron 1545 laptop. After booting up, the screen displays a psuedo-error "The amount of system memory has changed. If you did not change your memory... To resolve this issue reseat the memory." I have tried this and received the same message. After discovering a question of similar nature in this forum, I have waited for over half an hour with the DVD drive out, only for my computer to do nothing but sit with this message.

What am I doing wrong?

I have bought a Dell Inspiron 15r -5010 before two years and 5 months.

I am having a problem that does not turn on when i push the button and after a minute it makes 4 beeps. i have to try it for 3 to 4 times to open and then it works perfect.

Unfortunately the 2 years guarantee have passed and i contact Dell to see what is the problem and how to fix it.

I speak to a rep and she told me that it appears to be the mother-board and the cost for it is 340 euros and she could not do anything else because the guarantee has expired.I told her that i think it's very very expensive but she answer that this is the price !!!

so i decide to send this complaining letter to the company:

I have a dell Inspiron 15R,model 5010-3486, and i choose to buy this product because i am a mechanical engineer and i wanted a reliable laptop to use it for my work and that's why i paid for it 1.050 Euros.

The warranty ended in 29/01/2013.

Since then it occasionally appeared a problem that when i started the laptop it didn't open at once but after 3-4 seconds. Two times it didn't started and after 1 minute made 4 beeps. But when you tried again it worked just perfect.

About o month ago this problem started to appear more often. So i decided to sent it into a technical service to fix the problem before something bad happened, because the laptop is very important for my work and i can not afford the risk to run out of it. The technical service told me that they couldn't find any obvious problem and this kind of problems caused by the motherboard that costs about 300 Euros, and it's better to recycle it and take a brand new laptop i5 or i7 for 450-600 euros but not Dell .

I found the cost of the motherboard outrage, and i thought that maybe the service wanted to earn big money of my bad luck or sell me a new laptop. So i called the international calling center of Dell at 2108129800 to discuss about my problem and to find out a solution and the cost for it. I spoke with a rep that told me that she couldn't do anything because the warranty was expired and the cost of the motherboard is 340 euros.

I felt very sad of my decision to buy, in my opinion, a reliable laptop for my work so i don't have to mind the possibility to run out of laptop and have a problem with my work especially so soon.

So if you were in position what would you do?

Would you pay about 350 Euros to fix a laptop that cost you 1050 Euros, after 2 years and 5 months, or buy a new one for 500 to 600 Euros of a cheaper brand?

This happened about 3 weeks ago... then i searched about others that had the same problem with me with Inspiron 15r-5010 and i find out that many people are having heating problems with this particular model. So i wrote an other letter where i send the links with the same problems that i Have from many other people.

So far i don't have any reply from the company for the letters i have written,

but two days ago they send me a question-mark from TNS on behalf of Dell about the costumer service and how satisfied i am from it....!!!!!

Do you have any suggestions what to do???

Is it worth it to fix this Dell with the problems that appears to have or i should buy a new one??? Dell or an other brand???

I am using it for my work an i need to have a reliable product!!!!

Does anyone know where I can find the service manual for the Inspiron 7720? I have found pdf versions of Dell service manuals on the Dell website for other laptops in our organization but cannot find this one and I need the disassembly instructions so I can replace the power connector and bottom case.
