I've read lots of posts in this forum regarding new XPS13 and just want to share my experience.
(Notice to any DELL rep, please don't bother to post anything here since the case is closed.)
As many of XPS 13 users have experienced, my XPS 13 did not boot out of box. (It was i7/16G Memory/512G SSD)
I tried following trouble shooting: installed Windows 10 from USB and applied latest drivers from DELL. Each time XPS failed to reboot and I had to turn power ON/OFF to solve this issue. Eventually I concluded that this laptop has to be replaced. Then my experience with customer support got worse.
Contacted DELL next Monday. The support line always told me that I need to wait for 15 min. Of course that is not the case and I gave up after 20 min waiting. Then I tried online chatting. I entered the queue on 9AM and there are 18 people ahead of me. Finally I was able to chat with a support rep on 3PM.
The rep insisted that I had to talk to a tech support first before they can start to process replacement. Of course that tech support was not helpful at all. Good thing is that he agreed to refer me to a department which handles replacement. Unfortunately he was not aware that I live in Canada and that department only deals with customer in states. That finished my first day trying to get help.
The next day I waited for online chat again. After 2 hours of waiting I managed to get a phone number for the correct department dealing with replacement. Then this apparently outsourced rep hung up on me while kept me waiting for 20 mins. When I called them again it seems like they cannot even figure out what to do. This is the last straw.
The only thing I can do is to return the laptop and get full refund. After this horrible experience, I decided never to buy any DELL laptop again.
Last thing I want to say is that I am an experienced computer programmer and have been using DELL laptop in past eight years. Among all DELL laptops I have experienced so far:
Latitude, Precision, XPS 15 (late 2013 model) and XPS 13.
That last one gave me the worst customer experience.
