Hello. This is not a question but rather a request to confirm what I've tested and discovered. My son's Inspiron 15 (3521) when connected via CAT5 Ethernet does not seem capable of exceeding 50Mbps. This is similar to the WiFi speeds the same machine gets.

Background: Our house subscribes to 300Mbps internet. We have 4 computers in our house. Three computers show a download speed via speedtest.net of just about 300Mbps -- 2 Desktops and a Surface 3 (via WiFi 5G.)

The Inspiron 15 3521 however, has never tested higher than 48Mbps. It's running Windows 10 with the latest drivers. I even plugged an Ethernet cable from one of the desktops' 300Mbps connections to the Inspiron and the Inspiron still registered in the 45-48Mbps range.

So here's my question/concern/request to confirm:

Is that all ya got? Is the Inspiron 15 (3521) only capable of 50Mbps Ethernet and incapable of anything faster? That's the only conclusion I can reach based on my testing.

Lots of stories today about Dell installing a trusted root certificate (eDellRoot) onto laptops:

First , why is Dell doing this? It's a clear security breach to no known advantage to users and exposes users to potential security breaches.

Second, how can this be removed? I'm not sure simply deleting the certificate is sufficient. Any ideas?

After spending nearly a thousand dollars on a new Dell xps 13 I would think it would at least be able to connect to the internet without issues. Nope. I have to be extremely close to my router to get any wifi signal at all. Plus the added stress of it constantly disconnecting while online. I purchased this computer for school and because of this wifi problem my grades have been negatively impacted due to internet disconnection during tests and quizzes.

I am extremely unsatisfied. What good is a thousand dollar computer if it has constant internet issues...Not a quality product.

Even if this issue is able to be fixed, I should not have to scour through forums for trouble shooting steps. Get it together Dell.

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 Series computer, and I can not log in to the computer . I thought I had changed the password in start up mode, but it is still not letting me get on, so when and how do I get on my computer either by the old password or the new one.?? I really would like you to help me with this so I can get back on my computer.

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 Series computer . I cant get logged into it and I have tried putting a new password in the computer, but its still not letting me log in . How can I either use my old password or the new one to log in where do I make sure the new password is right ect. I cant remember the old password is the problem also.

When I try to turn computer on, keyboard, function keys light up but nothing else happens. I removed adapter and battery (which I had replaced with a battery ordered from Dell around 9 months ago). Still the black screen. I should say that for several years I have been getting pop up messages to the effect that I wasn't using the proper adapter, but since I was using the adapter that came with the computer, I ignored the message. To my peril? Any help muchly appreciated.

Hello there,

about a month ago i purchased a new dell inspiron 15 7548 with touch display, and currently i am facing an issue with the LED light located under the touch pad that indicate when the laptop is charging. It randomly started to blink yesterday 23rd Nov, and it still happens when my laptop is charging.

If there is anyone who experienced this issue please tell me how i should go about this.

P.S. it so far do not seem to impede anything on my laptop but i just can't tell if my laptop is charging anymore now.

I have recently bought a dell xps 13 skylake (9350) which runs on windows 10 version 1511. Due to the poor wifi connectivity of the Broadcom 1820 card, I have installed Intel's wireless 7265 AC and bluetooth 4.0 card. After physical installation, the wifi and bluetooth worked out of the box. There is however one problem:

Bluetooth cannot be switched off, through the action center or through the settings menu. There is no option to slide bluetooth on or off.

This means that it is continuously searching for bluetooth devices, even when I'm not using lets say a bluetooth mouse.

It seems to be a driver issue, since updating the driver through device manager gives me an error that says:

Inspiron 5000 17" Issues

Just received my new Dell and I'm having mixed feelings about it.

As a long-time Dell user this one doesn't feel quite right, but it could just be the Windows 10 installation

Issues so far based on my first night's usage

1) The laptop seems infested with ads. Every 5 minutes or so I get a short burst of news and and ad via the speakers. There is no sign where this comes from or how to stop them

2) The Edge browser seems OK but there is always the ad background and I can't see how to remove it. Oh, and Candy Jar is all over the place with popup ads

3) When I went to the Dell website to check on a potential new purchase, the graphics gave up with a warning notification first, then a blue screen telling me there was a VIDEO-SCHEDULING-INTERNAL-ERROR followed by a shutdown and reboot - for 3 times

I'll give it another day or so then I might just have to sent the thing back as not fit for purpose.

Is there an official solution to this?

Yes I've seen various posts where people suggest disabling/removing various Intel drivers software but it seems very hit and miss (and in my case completely miss).

I don't understand how a driver (which should only be loaded when the OS is running) can cause this problem when the machine switched off unless the BIOS is allowing something to keep running and defaulting to a sleep or hibernation mode rather than actually shutting down?

It's not like its easy to remove the battery on this model to prevent this problem so I'm going to guess the most likely fix is a BIOS update that makes sure the machine is really off when you tell it to perform this function.

Please can this get fixed as I'm utterly sick of coming back to find my battery has completely drained even though there were no indications that the machine was doing anything.

Hi,

I have had this issue for about a year or so, but I haven't had to use my laptop extensively so I kinda settled for the fact that I had to operate the laptop with a charger plugged in at all times.

What happened was that I plugged in the laptop at the University and it suddenly gave me the 'Quickset' message that the adapter wasn't of the correct watt (I believe 130).

Now I am also getting another 'Quickset' message that tells me that the battery is not recommended model number, which is really odd as the battery hasn't been touched once since I got the laptop.

What exactly is going on here and is it possible to fix this?

I have installed touchpad driver but could't find the dell touchpad tab in mouse settings. I tried to open DellTPad.exe but nothing appears.

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 13 which is great, however i keep getting crashes where i have to hard reset the machine. On reboot i get the error message "no bootable device found". I also had the issue with Windows 10 upgrade where the upgrade goes really slow. A firmware update provided by a Dell rep fixed this issue but i still encounter the crashes.

After searching the forums i think that this is a specific compatibility issue with the SK Hynix 512GB SSD that comes pre-installed and Windows 10.

Any advice on workarounds or a way to get the drive replaced by Dell would be greatly appreciated as i am tempted to return the machine back to the store, but i really like the laptop and want to keep it.

Hi all

I am using Dell Vostro 5470, it has all stock peripherals and after latest OS installation i noticed that there is no clue that It has a BT device inside.

before last OS installation I am sure I was using BT to connect with BT Headset.

Now at device manager or newtwork devices in shell manu also in network and share center there is no sign of it.

Bios is up to date. I did discharged Static eleectricity. installed latest drivers both from dell and intel websites for N 7260 wifi adapter.

No BT device detected yet.

How can I fix this without reinstallation of Operating system?

I tried everything to revive a salvaged XPS M1210 but could only get it to run for a few hours, or minutes, or even seconds before it would crash, and crash, and crash.

I was going to give up, but decided to take a last drastic step I found on the net. I stripped down the motherboard and baked it for 8 minutes at 385 degrees . It's called a "solder reflow". It melts and reconnects faulty connections.

Four days now without a glitch (fingers crossed), and this 8 year old laptop is running windows 10 like a champ. Voilà!

I have an Inspiron M5030 that just started beeping on startup and all I get is a black screen. It beeps 7 times and never boots up. I have a feeling it's toast....is there anything I can do? How do I recover all the documents/pictures I had stored on it?
