i have a dell inspiron 1526
i changed my hdd with an ssd and i want to put the old hdd instead of the optical unit.
i bought a hdd caddy and when i insert de hdd in the computer did not recognize it.
i updated the bios to A16 version, but no luck.
could anyone help me or tell me if is a problem with the second hdd, maybe the 1526 model does not support the second hdd ?

I pressed the power on button, then I can hear the fan was running, but it just ran for 2-3 seconds, then it turned off. The screen did not even turn on.
What problems I got? Is mother board bad? Thank you !

I am a retired electronics technician who just completely disassembled and reassembled my Studio S1558 laptop for a thorough cleaning, and installation of a new hard drive. I then loaded windows 7 professional. All this was done because of a hard drive failure. I used DRIVER DETECTIVE to load most of my drivers, because Dell’s Product Support/Drivers & Downloads only produced 3 of the many drivers my system required. After loading all the drivers that DRIVER DETECTIVE supplied only one would not load (R243820) as indicated by the program. I also tried to load it through Windows Device Manager (see Pic if I’m successful at uploading it), but it to was unsuccessful at doing so. According to DRIVER DETECTIVE the driver is for the Dell Ricoh Card Reader R5C833 I NF (see Pic if I’m successful at uploading it). I looked up the R243820 driver at Dell for this hardware but it to would not load following Dells instructions in combination with the directions given me in the loading process (see Pic if I’m successful at uploading it). PLEASE see the pictures of the card reader I took before reassembling my laptop. The name on the board to the card is the same as what’s on the mother board. Evidently, I cannot upload pics onto this forum.
Am I trying to load the right driver?
Do you have any suggestions, before I have to disassemble the laptop again to check the contacts and reseat the connections from the Card Reader Board to the Mother Board?
I was trying to get Windows 10 to install on my Inspiron 1110 (with Windows 7). I found a web site that said they had the drivers, so downloaded and installed them. Big mistake. Now the video is messed up; the resolution is no longer set for the wide screen. Any suggestions on how to fix it or have I trashed the computer?
The computer, bought used, has a recovery partition. If I can start from that maybe I can reload everything as it was to begin with. How do I start from the recovery partition.

Here's the thing, my laptop fell down and after some time refused web camera, card reader, and enabling video card in device Manager, it heats up quickly and the laptop turns off, it triggers a protection. The laptop is now working in emergency mode-integrated video card. The cooling fan is working at full capacity, I think that the problem in the North bridge, Please help me!

Been reading through this and no one has really solved the issue or came up with a viable solution. Has anyone fixed this issue yet as I've had the same problem. I heard some rumos about updating the Bios and the mouse/interface but no luck. Has anyone spoken to dell directly about this?
I have an Inspiron M5040, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit laptop.
Computer properties says - Installed memory-4.00 GB (3.61 GB usable)
System Summary says - Memory - 4.00 GB installed of 8.00 GB supported
Does this mean that I have 4 GB of memory, but can add another 4 GB stick of memory?

I did a factory reset through the options provided by windows 10 on my alienware 18. After the system was done, i was missing a lot of alienware software such as respawn and fx. I tried installing alienrespawn but i get a factory error 5. Is there any solution to this problem?

Every night whenever I turn off my Computer, I have got an Issue of the Battery Being Drain down to 0%
As per the internet, I have checked the Following suggestion.
Uninstalled the Following.
- Intel Rapid Storage.
- Intel Power Management
- Intel Security Agent.
As per Tech Support, i have Updated the Chipset, BIOS and Video Driver as well.
Tech Support is Letting me know that the battery drain is a Windows 10 Known Issue and nothing can be done about this.
However in my windows 7, I don't get to see any of the above 3 Options from Intel.
Apart from my Intel Graphic Drive, there isn't anything.
Tech Support even asked to Test for 1 Night to remove the battery and Keep from the Laptop and check if the Battery drain issue is REplication.
WIth the Battery being Disconnected from the Computer, there is no Battery draining Issue.
However every night I don't want the Hassel of Removing the Battery from the Laptop just to Prevent it from draining Out.
Hopefully some might be able to Help me or atleast hear my Concern here. this is getting Madining for me to having to Connect to the Charge and then only Power on Laptop.
It get embracing in front of my client that My Laptop won't power on without my Adapter being Connected.

Some people on the web are saying the dell supplied Intel RST significantly slows down the drive on the XPS m.2 drive. I've tried to switch mine to the native MS nvme drivers as they've suggested but when I reboot it says the bood device is inaccessible. I go to dos, load up the drivers and then do a system restore however I'd really like to get the speeds they are achieving. Go to notebook forum review xps 15 skylake owners thread for more details. If anyone knows how to change them without getting the boot device issue I keep running into, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Since the new update that I got this afternoon, my WiFi has become highly unreliable and intermittent. All other laptops are working fine except my Inspirion 13 series 70000. Any ideas on what should I do to fix this? Thx!

My laptop is 4 months old. I upgraded to Windows 10 with no issues. I realized my audio jack was not working properly so I put in a ticket. A Dell tech came out and replaced the mother board on November 11, 2015. 30 minutes prior to the tech arriving I was on my laptop and on Wi-Fi without issue. I have been unable to connect to wifi since. Tonight (November 13, 2015) I spent an hour on the phone with the "help desk" and he was still unable (unwilling) to resolve the issue. He told me it was the router despite the fact that my phone, my PlayStation (streaming Netflix) and my husband's 5 year old laptop are working fine on Wi-Fi. When I tried to explain this to him, his response was laptops aren't meant to get too far from the router and I needed to buy a dongle. If my Wi-Fi worked before your employee touched it and now it does not, how is that my problem? Suddenly after an hour of talking with no issues he suddenly couldn't hear me and disconnected the call. I have updated drivers, the help desk actually uninstalled the network adapter, I have cleared cookies, cache and run a scan disk. Nothing has worked.

I have a new Inspiron 15 5559 laptop. There seems to be no way to configure the BIOS to boot from a Win 10 repair disc. After a crash on my old laptop I know how important it is to be able to restore an image from my external backup drive.
Help please as I can't see how to get the optical drive listed in the boot order. There doesn't seem to be any mention of it.
