Hi all,

I have read a fair few articles around this problem, but I can't find a specific fix for this, so any help would be appreciated. 

When screenshotting an image or using snipping tool, then copying it into an email in Outlook, the image always scales up in size massively. I then manually make the image smaller, and it stays that way after I've sent the email when in my sent box.

On top of this, there's an image within my signature, which doesn't double in size if it is fairly small, but sometimes seems to double in size when it is a little larger. 

I was wondering if this is to do with the high resolution of the laptop and the fact that some applications cannot scale images correctly due to this?

The Precision Touch pad doesn't allow me to click and drag. Is is faulty or is there a trick?

I'm a new user to the forums, so I would appreciate a little help here.

What's happened is that my dell inspiron 14z 5423 seems to have shut down permanently.

It hasn't been doing anything when I press the power key. In fact, it doesn't even show any signs of charging.

The light on the battery indicates it is working perfectly, but the charge indicator on the laptop isn't working.. My computer was about to run out of battery when I shut it down during the time it was working flawlessly.

I've tested the power outlet with other chargers and it doesn't seem to have problems. The laptop isn't even taking me to the boot screen when the computer opens up. Basically, pressing the power key has no effect on the computer.

Can any fix be suggested for this??

Has anyone experienced an issue whereby the laptop battery does not charge? However, it shows as being plugged in and charging. Device Manager shows no issues, and the Dell Diagnostics shows no errors. We have tried both on and off the docking station, and used different adaptors on different outlets. It would appear to be an issue on the laptop yet nothing is being detected as having issues.

Any ideas?

There are a number of E6220 laptops up at auction soon. They all have a Bios password. I do not know any service tags. Is there a way to get the password removed by Dell?

Whenever I boot my Vostro 1700, it goes into diagnostic boot.  I have to hit ESC to get it to reboot.  How do I get it to boot normally to the OS?  I've checked the BIOS settings, but can find nothing that changes how the machine boots.

When I ordered my Dell XPS 13 back in May of this year, I ordered it with a 256 GB drive knowing I'd eventually upgrade to a 512 GB drive once the new NVMe m2 drives were out. I didn't fully grasp the variations in m2 and when I pre-ordered the 512 GB Samsung 950 PRO NVMe I expected to pop it in and go. No such luck. I should have known they wouldn't make it that easy... :-(

The drive is physically compatible of course, but has the "M" key edge connector while the drive I pulled out has the "B&M" edge key connector. I'm running the A05 BIOS on the Dell, but it can't see the 950 PRO drive a the BIOS level. The on-board testing tool reports "no hard drive". So this seems like a BIOS issue.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this a matter of Dell supporting it with a new BIOS update? Or will it never work because the XPS 13 isn't compatible with this generation of M2 drivers? Looks like I need to return this either way, but if Dell eventually supports it, I may buy it again.

If it will never work, any suggestions on a 512 GB drive that will work? Would the Samsung XP941 or XP951 work? Any idea on the difference between the two (the XP951 is $50+ more).

I really want to get my free upgrade to windows 10, but its not been tested by Dell to run properly.

I did upgrade to windows 10 but had to re install windows 7 because I had several issues with it, yet, when it did work, I loved windows 10.

Will the Latitude E4300 ever be tested for windows 10 compatibility?

my dell XPS was pretty much dead one morning, wouldn't even try to power on.

Dell came out and replaced the motherboard and DC jack and now it only fails to boot about a third of the time. Seems very strange; rarely see a computer problem get "halfway" fixed like that. 

Anyway, it only seems to fail to boot when it's been left alone for many hours like overnight, when it's going into sleep mode presumably. Perhaps it is an issue with sleep mode? 

And more recently it will sometimes completely shut off randomly as if someone yanked the power cord out suddenly; no warning or anything. 

Any help is appreciated. Dell is asking me to send the laptop to them but I'm not doing that without at least looking into the issue myself first seeing as they've already replaced the hardest part, the motherboard.

I have an alienware M17XR4 THE NUMBER 2, the @, z, x,-, =, fn f2, fn f3, fn f1 does not work.did an update on my bios, update drivers for keyboard. I replaced old keyboard with a brand new one still have the same problem [:(] I checked the language and region settings too  Could somebody help me please its very frustrating

Hi my wifi has a limited range in comparison to my previous computer that was a toschiba satellite i3 that I bought four years ago.

Could it happen that I could fix the problem through a setting?

Have a new Inspiron 14 that only has a 28 gb hard drive.  Windows 10 was already  installed.  Todays Window 10 update needs more space to install it.  There is only 4 gb free on this hard drive.  I inserted a new 16 gb usb flash drive and clicked on the tab for that drive.  Nothing happens.  I also tried this with a 500 gb Seagate USB hard drive.  Once again, the update process recognizes the drive is attached but will not proceed.  When clicking on refresh I get the message that I need an additional 5.21 gb on the C drive.

What do I need to do?

This laptop is only like 5 months old. I mainly use Internet, download my pics, and keep track of finances on it, that's all.  When I turn it on it loads the black screen with 'DELL' on it and the white circles below. Then it goes to a blank black screen.  Once  a while I see a cursor or my Internet bars but it stays blank. .. can't log in or see anything. I have gone through f12 and the diagnostic says nothing is wrong. It won't let me do safe mode so what can I do.  I have already attempted discharge of static and have attempted waiting endlessly for it to do something else but it doesn't. It doesn't even give me the option to reset to factory default. What to do?

I have problem about my format cd. I used my format cd and my system ınstalled,.ı choosed language turkish but language of my computer is not turkis . and ı had some dell programs before format, but they are not load in my computer. How can uplaod my dell programs.  ı uploaded dell system detected but it doesnt work. Please hepl me.

I have a Dell Inspiron 23 5348 desktop computer with a Dell KM 632 wireless keyboard.

This keyboard has no “Fn” or “Num Lock keys.”

Everything worked OK initially, but now none of the number keys work.  When pressing the keys on the number pad, nothing happens.  When pressing the number keys on the keyboard, I get the symbols, regardless of the position of the “Shift” or “Caps Lock keys.”

Also, the “Caps Lock” key seems to be reversed.  When “Caps Lock On” is shown, it types lower case, and when the “Caps Lock On” is not showing, it types upper case.

So, I can’t even open my computer because my password contains numbers.

Also, the keyboard batteries are fresh.

I am asking this for a female friend of mine. She owns a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop computer with a Seagate ATA 500GB hard drive. It came with windows 8 preinstalled. I'm not sure why but she allowed someone to install Linux 14 nadia on her computer. Instead of doing a dual boot with both operating systems he erased the hard drive and reformatted it with the Linux operating system. She now wants the computer returned to the windows 8 operating system but has no back up recovery disk and no product key. It is my understanding that her product key may be embedded in the motherboard. Is it possible to wipe the hard drive clean for the second time, format it and reinstall windows 8. Will the install recover the product key from the mother board or will she need to purchase a new licensed copy of windows 8. Will the hard drive stand another erase and reinstall of a windows operating system or does she need a new hard drive. Thank you in advance!

Hi, i just did fresh instal on my inspiron n4030, win7 ultimate x64 sp1, but on device manager i got couple of drivers isn't working and cant be installed.

1) Pci simple communication controller

2) Network Controller

On the other hand, I've got "Qualcomm Atherros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)" installed at my Network Adapters, wondering is this the right drivers? As I can't neither go online via Wireless nor LAN Cable.
