My Laptop made a screeching noise when the power supply was plugged in
Dear friends,
My Dell Inspiron N5010 started making a screeching noise today when I plugged in the power/adaptor chord to charge my laptop. The noise would stop when I unplugged it, and then start again when I re-plugged it.
But when I am charging the laptop when it was turned off, I am not getting any screeching noise.
But the moment I turn-on the laptop the screeching noise starts again, and continues throughout the booting process, stopping only when I unplug it.
Can anybody tell me the cause of it?

Windows 10 on Dell Latitude E6420 Laptop : Black screen after installation
I installed windows 10 pro 64 bit on my dell laptop latitude e6420 (previously it held windows 7 64 bit) through online update on Microsoft recommendation.
After installation it rebooted and I got the dell logo followed by windows 10 logo and then black screen on my laptop.
I plugged in my monitor which loaded as soon as I inserted it
I can work with the computer on my laptop with the monitor but my laptop screen is not working.
Windows was working fine I was able to access net and tried to update all drivers but It showed me that all drivers are up to date.
I was able to run all my applications smoothly only my laptop screen was not working. what are the steps should I Follow to make my laptop screen work back normally.

CPU going berserk!
This is a Dell XPS L502x, with a Core I7-2630QM CPU.
In the last couple of days I have been using it effectively as a desktop, using the mains adaptor with a monitor plugged into the HDMI port and using a wireless keyboard/mouse(whether this has anything to do with it I know not, but it is only after I started doing this that this problem emerged).
The fan has started running pretty well all the time at almost full blast, even when I am not running anything much(before it only did so when running power-hungry software). Checking the CPU I see that it is running at 2594 MHz most of the time even when the system is more or less idle - which would of course account for the fan running fast - core temperatures are in the mid 60s C. I haven't knowingly changed any settings and power management is in balanced mode.
I have noticed before that this machine does have a habit of changing settings without telling anyone - a while ago I noticed that it was running slow & eventually discovered that all by itself it had decided that there were only 4 rather than 8 threads!
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might have happened & what I can do to calm it down - obviously I would only want it to be running this fast when running something demanding?

XPS 12 9Q23 Keyboard Issues
Trying to solve a problem on friends Dell XPS 12 9Q23 laptop running windows 8.0.
Keyboard appears to be putting out wrong charecters, for example when I press lc 'u' nothing appears, when I press the lc 'p' 'ip'. When I press '¬' '~' appears, also Backspace key does not work, buy Delete key does. Also Spacebar does not work.
Have all Windows 8.0 and Dell updates installed, also have English Keyboard Layout installed.
This is driving me nuts!!!! Does the KB need replacing???
Any help, suggestions most welcome.

Dell latitude e6420 order of installing drivers
Hi.
I just made a clean installation of windows7 and I noticed in 'device manager' that I havent installed SM bus controller or something like that. I found on the net that I need to update the chipset. I went on webpage of my product and run autodetect and auto update. Yes, it updated the chipset and sm bus controller is now installed but everytime I go on the page and try to autoupdate again it still says that my chipset is out-of-date. No matter how many times I update it, it says that it still needs and update. (yes. I also tried to installl it manually, after finished instalation it says that installation finished succesfully but dell system detect still says that my chipset is outdated). I'm going to make another clean installation but now i want to install drivers in correct order. Firsty I need to install dell system software and then chipset. I will do it manually, I have downloaded it and I will install it before I install wifi driver. But, then I need to install other drivers. Can I just install wifi driver and trust that dell system detect will install them in correct order?

i am thinking about installing SDD as a main drive and leaving the original one as a storage drive. Although, i can't figure out supported versions of SATA. Does my laptop has support for SATA III?

Brand new Dell XPS 13 keeps freezing for seconds at a time
I just received my new Dell XPS 13 but it keeps pausing for long periods at a time. The trackpad/keyboard/touchscreen become completely unresponsive. After 25 seconds or so, they system might come back to life for a few seconds before becoming unresponsive again.
I've tried uninstalling the Mcafee software which didn't seem to help.
Config: Dell XPS 13 9350, Windows 10 Home.

Latitude 13 7350 2 in 1 - buzzing noise on CPU activity
I bought a Latitude 13 7350 off the Outlet (8GB ram, 256GB SSD, LTE card) just over ten days ago putting me near the end of the 14 day UK return window and annoyingly it's developed an intermittent fault where it makes a noticeable buzzing sound from the keyboard/base section. It sounds similar to a hard drive noise but louder and obviously not a hard drive since there isn't one in the machine. It seems to be getting more constant and related to CPU activity, it's loud when loading a webpage then goes quiet until I scroll the webpage.
Disabling the backlighting and taking it on/off charge doesn't seem to make any difference so I'm not sure what could be causing it, my concern is niggly little problems like this can be a pain to sort in which case I may be better sending this one back and trying to get another. I realise this seems to be a rare machine but thought it worth checking first to see if anyone was aware of this issue, certainly none of the reviews mentioned it.

Error code
My inspiron randomly stopped working.I get this blue screen that says "an error occurred and the error can happen when a removable device is removed while it's in use or failing. Properly connecting ang removable device and restarting your pc may fix this problem." The problem is, I didn't have my computer connected to any device...
0xc00000e9 is the error code.
I attempted to enable safe mode, but it didn't work. It says the operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.
Then I ran a diagnostic test and the hard drive test said test results fail error code 2000-0142 validation 17372 self test unsuccessful. Status=7
How do I fix this??

Inspiron 1545 recovery problem.
I've had my laptop a couple of years and it has started to run extremely slowly to the point its unusable. I have tried uninstalling programs but this is virtually impossible, It took over 2 hours to uninstall one program so I'm thinking that the only option is to reset back to factory settings, however,
I cant find the dell recovery partition so I think it must have been deleted at some time and the laptop came with windows installed so I have no discs. After days of searching online, I can only find that I need to press F8 and repair computer BUT that doesn't work either, I have no idea what to do, I am not a computer master so if anyone could help me it would be appreciated,

Clean Install
I have Latitue D810. I would like to wipe the hard drive and start out fresh as when laptop was new.
I have the re installation disk for windows but not for sure that after wiping the hard drive if all the information is on it to load complete windows os. I have found some of the information for drivers on the Dell web site. If windows will load off of the reinstallation cd and I down load information from Dell web site am I good to go?
Suggestions on proceeding to wipe the drive and install windows and drivers. I understand that I will need copies of all programs I want to load back on. I would like to start like I bought the laptop. Thanks

dell m6600 wont startup
Hi
My dell m6600 crashed with a white screen and wont startup after that, i tryed removing battery and ac power, press power button for 30sec, pressed fn + power button and hdd, battery and wifi led lights up and after a sec wifi led turns off, hdd and battery led starts to blink??

Plugged in, not charging
I've got the "plugged in not charging" problem on my 1545. I have downloaded the BIOS update as I saw that was a possible fix; however, it errors out saying the battery has to be at 10% to install the update. Mine is at 0% because it won't charge. Catch-22. Suggestions? I've tried uninstalling the battery itself and then plugging it back in and having it search for drivers but no luck. I've even tried the "tapping by the Inspiron logo" fix I saw posted somewhere.

Dell Inspiron 15 5547 Issue
Dell Inspiron 15 5547 Laptop issue... I bought this laptop in the month of December 2014 and I have warranty up to December 2015. Last week I noticed a damage at the right side corner of the laptop just below LAN port. Its just because of a screw. There was no screw and I din't noticed it till last week. Yesterday when I called customer service they said like they will not cover it under warranty and we have to pay for it in-order to get it repaired. I explained them it was damaged because there was no screw.
When I went through forums for this laptop in dell support website, every post is regarding this issue.
I don't know what to do. If I get this laptop repaired what if this same issue arise again. They will not give any warranty for this. This is not a physical damage. This is just mistake by the DELL.
Why does DELL doesn't care about their customers?
As we purchased DELL products, do we have to face this?

Laptop internal fan not running
My 4 yr old dell inspiron n4010 laptop's (out of warranty) internal fan is not spinning...
this is causing my laptop to overheat ,hang and then abruptly shutting down....
I have tried cleaning the fan,checking the connections,updated drivers..still not working
