I have the Inspiron 13 7000 series 2-in-1 for almost a year and i also have the ghost touch issue. I called dell for the issue and they tried to see me 300 dollar software and hardware warranty. The tech i was talking to was trying very hard to convince me to get the warranty that she went to a point where it sounded like dell makes a very bad laptop and buying extended warranty is a must  hahahah. I said i still have some time before my 1 yr factory warranty expire. I like the features in this laptop I'll use it as much as i can and move to buying mac after this. Not coming back to dell again after this. 

I personally feel that this product is a factory defect and should have a recall for the product. Dell should also acknowledge the issue and fix through recall rather than trying to see warranty for the issue.

Hi,

I'm a student and I have a Vostro 5470 laptop. I wish to develop a program that can collect fingerprint data from the fingerprint reader of my laptop. Unfortunately, I am not able to find any SDKs that support my needs. Anyone has experience on this? Please advise. Thanks!

Why is it turning on and off whenever computer is on.  Feels like privacy invasion into my home...Help? with settings, suggestions, what to do?  WandaBug in Alabama, Just purchased and set up. And now ready to use, but noticed the Camera built in is turning off and on the entire time I am on computer.  Have I missed something in the set up? Thanks to all in the Forums and Community that can help.  None computer Savvy individual.

Hi, my name is Kevin and please assist my problem below:

I'm and Indonesian and I just joined with an Indian Company and be given an inventory (second hand from my superior) of Dell Latitude E5430. The OS is Win 7 Pro 32 Bit. This laptop originally came from India and i'm not sure whether they can do the repairing in here in Indonesia.

There are 2 problems with this laptop:

1. The battery life is terrible and i need to charge it everytime i want to use it. I noticed that this can be fixed just by buying a new battery and i'm sure it'll work. So no problem.

2. The laptop cannot be shut down at all. The system just run the shut down loading process no matter how long did i wait. I actually wait from night till the morning and it keeps doing the loading process. Can you please advise what should i do to this laptop? Because every time I finish my work here, i need to save my laptop to the Sleep Mode. Of course its not convenient and it's not good at all for my laptop.

Hello,

I've just done a clean install of Windows 10 Pro 64 bit on my Precision M4800, and I'm wondering what I should reinstall in terms Dell Applications and Drivers for the system. In particular I have AMD FirePro M5100 FireGL V, and I'm thinking that I'll need to the install the driver and catalyst control center for this.

Here are my system specifics:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4800MQ CPU @ 2.70GHz

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

AMD FirePro M5100 FireGL V

Realtek High Definition Audio

Intel USB controllers

I believe there is an Intel wireless card as well

Hello

I'm trying to (currently A04 version) update the BIOS on my laptop Dell e6420 to the A22 version, but appears message that previously have to upgrade to the A05 version, the problem is that the BIOS version is not available in the DELL website.

this laptop isnt mine its my uncles im his tech guy i just need help to figure out what it could be wen hitting the power buttion it makes this buzzing noise and then its shuts off after 5 seconds

My windows 10 OS would not load. Ive run system restore, diagnostics from safe boot, an OS repair option and now Instant Restore, none fixing the problem. Obviously something wrong with windows 10 but instant restore says it "may take several minutes but has been going for over 2 hours. Is this normal for it to take this long or has it frozen? Any other suggestions to try? The laptop is a Inspiron 3147

I am trying to update to the latest update from A03, but the BIOS updates on the Driver Download page require A04 be installed first.

BIOS  A04 is not available on the page. Can I have a link to the BIOS A04 please.

Hello Dell Forums,

I have a question that I hope one of you can help with ... It is which processor would be the fastest one to upgrade my Dell E6420 with? I'm considering this one:

ark.intel.com/.../Intel-Core-i7-2670QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz

however, if possible would like a higher base frequency while retaining the No. of cores and 6 MB cache or higher. Anyone have experience with what is possible - maybe a newer generation i7 fits in and works reliably (which is mandatory)?

Also, is it possible to put in RAM that works at a higher speed than the specified speed (1333 MHz)?

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for any insights [:)]

I have had a number of problems with my Dell XPS 9530 machine. It is less than a year old.

- The mouse was extremely glitchy. It would work for max 1-2 minutes when I power on the machine. After that the pointer would disappear and the only method for interaction with the machine would be through using the touch screen.

- The power button was also temper mental. Sometimes it would take numerous tries to get the machine to turn on.

Last night I decided to backup my important data (photos, music etc) and when I attempted to power on my machine it would not come on. It was totally unresponsive - no power light, no fan, no keyboard lights etc. I tried a number of times as I was aware of the problems with the power button but to no avail. I also tried plugging into a power source but I have had no luck! 

I'm a software engineer so would consider myself an experienced user. This machine is less than a year old and I have not used it for any programming or anything compute intensive since I purchased.

Please help!

Just got my new E5450 and decided to re-install ubuntu to take advantage of full disk encryption and piece of mind that no bundled packages have been included. Install goes along fine right until the end before I get the error  “[Errno 5] Input/output error” next the installer quits and I have an unbootable disk.

Tried 

- Full dell diagnostics to eliminate hardware fault. 
- USB install 14.04
- USB install 15.10
- USB Live boot then install 14.04
- USB Live boot then install 15.10
- CD install 14.04
- CD install 15.10
- CD Live boot then install 14.04
- CD Live boot then install 15.10

Always the same error. 

Want to know this Dell Battery is original or not

Hi,

Recently purchased the XPS13 9350  (6th gen intel  i5). Right from the start the  computer had an issue with a flickering screen. Sometimes it doesn't flicker, sometimes it is very bad. I have run the diagnostic tests for video card, motherboard and screen, and it all passes.    I have also opened a dell support ticket and no responses yet.  All the drivers have been upgraded to what is currently available on the dell website.

Any thoughts  would be greatly appreciated :)

my dell n4010 suddenly gave up on me yesterday the display of laptop (and his external monitor) got weird vertical lines with pi characters , i searched the internet and found out that one of the reasons maybe is his onboard graphics chip is failing. my question is is there a way to disable the onboard AMD graphics chip and switch to  the intel HD graphics card that is built in in every i-core processor? thank you for reading and hope you could give an answer thank you..

Hi guys,

I recently have a very strange trouble. When I'm working with my Laptop, it randomly shuts down with no reason. I think that is a hardware issue, because when I reboot my laptop, it only shutdowns and the no power up again.

Sometimes I need to disconnect the battery connector, push ON button, and then reconnect the battery and the the system powers up normally. I tested the system through F12 but shows no errors.

Anyone with the same issue? Any help about this?
