Hi Guys
Newbie with a problem I'm afraid, I have a Inspiron 17 7000 series and I am really struggling with the keyboard, in my office there is a lot of natural light and as a result it is really difficult to see the keyboard details and the backlight make no difference at all.
has anyone else noticed this? is there an alternate keyboard?

I have a Dell Inspiron 3542 notebook. I have had it for 2 months everything was great until all of a sudden this happened: Whenever I shutdown or put to sleep mode my computer I cannot start it again until I remove both the battery and the AC adapter.
I have found people having similar problems and it's something that the battery "dies" even though it is fully charged. I do not exactly know what the problem is, nevertheless how to solve it.

I have an Inspiron N5110. Service tag<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. After the upgrade the computer would boot to the sign in screen but after I signed it, within 30 seconds it would go to a black screen. I troubleshooted and found that I needed to reinstall my video adapter. I tried to do this but the black screen would come up even in safe mode. I decided to reinstall windows 7 from a usb drive that I received from Dell several years ago. During the install an error came up about a password issue and it stopped installing. When I went into my CMOS setup there was an admin password that had not been there previously. My ability to use a USB for booting was locked out and not available when I pressed F12 for boot options. Can this password be overridden since it was not my doing and I have no idea of what it could be?
i am using dell 3521 dual core from few year before.the problem is my bios is working but not fully.i can not change boot options and also no access to change optimal default setting. these options i can not select.
When I start my lap only Dell logo appears. When I diagnoise, it displays as hard drive failure. Once again when I restart my lap it displays as preparing automatic repair. I tried a lot. But nothing happen. so I want to know whether it's possible to retrieve all the data from my internal hard drive. Give me some suggestions.

I have contact Dell tech support on a couple of occasions to inquire about the best way to optimize the battery for a longer life. As is true to forum in the Dell Tech Support world I got several different answers.
I use my XPS all day. What I want to know is how is the best way to use a laptop and not reduce the life cycle of the battery.
The AC adapter will not be plugged in 24/7, only during work hours.
Can anyone provide incite on what are the best practices for getting the best from the battery (in terms of lifespan).
I would prefer to use AC all day as this way I can increase my screen brightness.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I need help, we have 250 Dell Inspiron 11 3147 devices. We have the Miracast Wireless Display adaptors as well that are plugged into our Projectors in the classrooms. I am running Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
I cannot get these 3147 to pair with it, i go to devices, project, add wireless display, i select my device in this case it says MicrosoftDisplayAdaptor_B1 then it says follow any onscreen instructions etc... then says That Didn't work try adding your MicrosoftDisplayAdaptor_B1 again, or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions.
I sat on phone with dell for over an Hour on friday and they didn't even know what i was talking about and the same goes with my phone call to Microsoft.
I also have Asus T100TA Tablets here and they connect to the same projector with no problems.
I need help any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I have an Inspiron 17R and it is not quite 2 years old. After shutting it down last night all was well until I went to start up the next day and get nothing, the screen is black and the power light is on. Help

Does anyone know if any of the dell laptops- specifically the new XPS 13 have the connected standby/ instant go feature.
Where it makes it like a smartphone in that when its not used for example 2 mins the screen goes black(in to sleep mode) but will wake if an email or a chat windows opens, so it is still keeping a wi-fi connection in sleep. See here

I have a Dell Inspiron14 3000 series which was bought last year in Bangkok and it came with Ubuntu OS. ( I am not sure which shop as this laptop was bought by my friend ). However as per request the shop owners have installed Windows7 OS and I was using it till yesterday.
I clicked on automatic updates of Windows that was alarming in my system after the installation of Windows Update, my laptop got restarted and it is not entering to Windows7 OS. Currently I am not able to do 'System Repair'and 'System Restore'or 'Can't boot the system in Safe Mode'as well.
I had ePSA diagonostics run as well and it passed both the normal and extended tests.
I don't want any data to get erased as I didn't have any back-up of my data.
Can somone please help me now how to resolve this issue. I don't have Windows7 32-bit OS as well handy.
I have upgraded to windows 10 and have two unknown devices.

I have a dell Inspiron 3520 and i face a very strange problem. It is 2 years old and lately it does this strange thing. The boot settings should be on UEFI mode to work and boot normally. But even if the battery is fully charged and i suppose the CMOS battery is good since is 2 years old, when i shutdown the laptop and leave it for a minute...at the next power on it does not boor and in the bios settings at the boot settings, the boot mode changes from UEFI to Legacy by it self. I change it to UEFI, save the changes and boot normal. If I shutdown the laptop for a minute, at the next power on it does the same change in the boot optopns, from UEFI to Legacy. All other options and also Date and Time are ok, they never change. Only in the Boot menu is changing by itself....Firts time i see something like that. I have update the bios to the latest version, A10, but nothing changed, still makes the same thing.

Several years ago I purchased an Inspiron M5040 (Service tag available on request). This was right before Windows 8 came out and a free upgrade to Windows 8 was included with the purchase. I did upgrade to Windows 8 and have been using it. However, I would like to wipe my system back using the factory image (my personal files have been backed up to an external HD). However, the Datasafe Local cannot find the recovery partition, and when I boot the windows 8 repair, it cannot find the factory image. I have a copy of a Windows 7 DVD and have tried installing the image that way as well, but it cannot find a valid image to use. I have not altered the recovery partition at all. I think I might have read somewhere that if you upgrade the OS, then it breaks the links to the recovery partition, though I could be wrong about that. While I do have a copy of a Windows 7 DVD, the key on the bottom of my laptop has worn off. I know that there is something in my recovery partition because the disk management snap in says that I have 5.84 GB free out of the 14.6 GB available on the partition. I have used the command line to browse the partition after assigning a drive letter to the partition, but I cannot see anything beyond a "Recovery" folder. Everything else seems to be hidden. How can I access the factory restore image and restore my laptop back to factory settings? Any help and assistance would be greatly appreciated, and I am happy to provide any additional information as needed.

My dell 14z freezes on the dell logo when I try to reboot or restart the computer. I googled the problem and it sounds like a very popular issue with this computer. I tried all the possible fixes with no success. Has anyone come up with a solution? I even tried upgrading to windows 10 to see if that was the problem. No luck. Also the keyboard does some strange stuff. Has Dell did anything to help with this problem being it is so wide spread? Thanks in advance.
