I have reinstalled Windows 7 Pro x64 on a new E7450. I have not used the recovery partition as I prefer to have a system fresh and clean.
After updating all the drivers from the 7450 download page, I have one more item in the Device Manager that still shows up as Unknown Device. It's hardware ID is INT3420 and I have no idea what it could be. Any ideas and ideally, a download link?
Again it's Windows 7 Pro x64, not Windows 8 or Windows 10. Thanks!
Hi guys ..assalam o alaikum.. I've a Dell inspiron 3542 laptop with a month warranty remaining. Yesterday I was playing a game ..after that shut down the laptop and I opened it again after 20 mins..when I pushed the power botton ,it refused to power on..I connected power ac adaptor..and I saw a message on black background "this battery is temporary disable, press F2 for BIOS setup and battery health details".. I removed the battery and connected with power ac adapter..this time laptop powered on ..then I searched on Google about my problem.. I found that many people are here having this problem.. I read many posts & replys on dell community and other websites..I found many tips and then I tried them one after one..
1- I tried taping onside of ESC key to F12 but problem still existed
2- I removed battery and ac adaptor, then pressed power botton for 40+ seconds then put battery and tried to power on but problem still eeexisted
3- I went to start>windows search>device manager>batteries then I uninstalled both drivers then powered off then tried to power on laptop but problem still existed
4-I updated BIOS with A08 version.previous version was A03.then shut down then I tried to power on but problem still existed
5- I went to start>update & recovery > reset your PC>don't remove data only refresh.. Then I completed reinstallation of windows in this refresh.. After completed I tried to power on but problem still existed.
I've recently upgraded to windows 10.
I got this problem after 2 weeks when upgaded
I'm really worried about this problem ..plz suggest me any solution to get out of this problem.

ever since my inspiron15 updated to windows 10 from 8.1. I can seem to use the dvd/cd drive. it does not appear in my pc, nor in device manager. when I scan for hardware changes it still does not show. the drive did work once, but has since disappeared from the laptop . any ideas ??

The HDMI port worked well under Window 7 and was used daily for presentations.
Since the upgrade to Windows 10 no signal from the port is recognised by projectors or TV. This is a major embarrassment as much company kit has no VGA inputs.
What solution is recommended other than scrapping the laptop. Reversion to Windows 7 is not company policy regrettably.

I took my Dell xps14 away with me to America and I noticed that as the days went on the recovery partition drive kept flashing up on the screen. This started as a couple of times but got more and more.
Now, when I turn the laptop on it boots past the dell logo but then hangs on a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen. I can boot into the setup screen and I've noticed my boot options have decreased to just hard drive and network, no usb etc
I am unable to boot to the advanced menu option via the f8 key as it just sits on the blank screen.
Any ideas? Could it be a hard drive fault or a motherboard fault?
I have booted via the f12 key and run the diagnosis which shows it passes all tests including the hard drive one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've just found an hardware/construction issue on my Inspiron 17 5748.
I've noticed, when I'm working on battery and I'm pushing with my fingers near battery connector, my laptop is shutting down immediately.
When I'm working connected to power outlet, I'm getting no issue at all. I think my laptop is working not from battery, thats because I'm getting no issue.
So, what to do? I think it's an construction failure. Warranty is covering this kind of issues? And if Dell will change my laptop to new and the same one, I think issue will still exist.

Hi, I have had a Dell XPS 15 9540 for a few months now. Some weeks ago I began getting the message along the lines of the battery charging is disabled, please restart and try again when the temperature is operational. The machine won't work without the power cable. Have seen this problem posted before on different versions of the computer and I have checked AC adaptor on Bios (says "130W") and updated the Bios to the latest version.
Any ideas as to a solution for this?
My Inspiron 15 3542 is so slow starting up. I have ran Dell Diagnostics. I have ran the factory recovery.
I have Windows 7 ordered it with Windows 7. I think now dell has started loading junk ware and it reinstalled this junk ware when you run the recovery. Here is my plans. I have a Dell Branded Windows 7 DVD sp1 from another computer. I have thought about wiping my drive and reinstalling with the Dell OS DVD i have to get rid of the junk ware. Does this make sense to anyone has anyone done it? Actually I just remembered Dell sent the Windows 7 OS DVD I have one unopened then found the one from another computer. I just have a question the driver disk they sent with the OS DVD is bootable.
That meaning if left in the drive pressing F 12 and choosing the DVD to boot it boots to a Command.
I am asking this because I was wondering if the Diagnostics run from a partition? Or maybe it is from the BIOS? Is there a way to run them from the DVD? My old laptop allowed me to make a Dignostics on USB flash. I did not see an option for this I hope someone can reply.

i have a dell inspiron 11 3000series that i traded for another dell computer . and it wouldnt let me boot up or anything so i ran test on it and everything worked except the the"hard drive" so i disconnect the hard drive , did some initial tests on it and all it does is stay on a black screen , but its still responsive , what should i do.

I have the Dell Inspiron 7720 over 2 years. Most of this time I used it in a desktop mode with connected charging and it had been satisfied me. But now I needed use the laptop only on battery and appeared next two problems:
Insufficient battery capacity: When I bought the laptop, battery on 48Wh was enough for 2-3 hours. Now work time by battery 40 - 90 min.
Insufficient battery discharge rate: battery have 97W/h (one cell max discharge rate 4400mA/h, 4.4 * 3.7 * 6 =~ 97 ). When the charger provides about 130W/h. Through that my laptop power off with almost full battery.
For me is strange that these powerful laptops have been installed weak battery. The lack of alternative powerful batteries is also strange. Never needed more battery life?
To resolve these issues I need answers to the following questions:

Hi, I've been using DELL Latitude D360 which I know is a 2006 model. I bought it from my cousin and I found out that it's battery has an extension of another battery. When I checked the battery status I found out that battery #2 is not yet installed and of course battery #1 is the main battery so it's the only one that can be charged. I want to install the second battery so I can use my laptop for a longer period of time but I do not know how.

The function keys (Fn plus a labeled key at top of the keyboard) on this Dell 17R Inspiron laptop now fail to work.
Shortly after the 1 year warranty expired I had to replace a failed hard drive. I removed the Dell provided Seagate drive and now have a new WD drive. I used the Dell USB memory device to re-install my Windows 7. The re-installation appears to have worked except for the Fn keys, where no instructions were provided. This means the function key to turn on/off the WiFi function no longer works. (The same goes for other hardware functions.)
Where do I go from here?

My question is; will a 9.5 mm (height) drive fit in the laptop. The current drive is 7 mm. I could not find any information about this.

I have an Alienware 15 2015 model and just recently started playing a game that requires mouse input along with keyboard input but the touchpad seems to stop responding while pressing keyboard keys. The touchpad still senses the input, just doesn't translate it to pointer movement.
The solution?
Tune down or turn off palm sensitivity of the touchpad.
I hope this helps someone, after calling support I was told it was a Windows thing and nothing could be done and use an external mouse.
