E7440 / Gobi 5808 Verizon LTE Windows 10 ent x64 not working

As of now I can see the adapter in device manager but it is using the generic MS driver for a broadband card yielding an adapter in network connections but nothting under cellular settings in network & internet. Needless to say you cant make it connect to Verizon.

Forcing it to use the sierra wireless 5808 driver just says device cant start.

Had the same issue with my venue 11 pro and the technical preview.

Anyone know when dell will release a driver update making the gobi 5808 and e7440 compatible with win 10 x64? This is a factory dell setup. It came with the card installed and has worked just fine with win 7 -- win 10 different story.

Hi, I have a D630c with A19 BIOS and would like to know if I put a T9400 (which is a 2.53Ghz, 1066mHz, socket P) should it work with my motherboard and will it work my existing memory which is a 2GB PC2-6400S 800mHz module.

I know that the memory works fine with a T7250 cpu installed but when the T9400 is in it won't boot.

Also, because I have choosen the wrong socket P processor for an upgrade may I know which socket P cpu's are compatible with a D630? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors

Inspiron 15 very slow

G'day, my Inspiron15 has been playing up since ive got it and I just put up with it but now it's getting much worse. When I start it it sometimes take ages to start up to the point that it's useable. Other times it's ok. Sometimes the only way to get it to work is power down and remove battery for a while then it may work first or second time. When it does start up and I go to select an icon or a favourite it is slow to highlight and the curser is jumpy as it moves in small stages. Would this be a ram or bad processor issue or something else.

Thanks

DELL XPS 13 (9493) - Bluetooth Wifi Conflict - Degradation in service

$

Hello,

I have been rocking my Dell XPS 13 laptop since June, and so far I really don't have any complaints with the PC itself (OS on the other hand....). However, one thing that hasn't really worked at all since day one is utilizing Bluetooth while my Wireless is enabled.

So far from testing I have found out:

*Both Bluetooth and Wifi enabled = Intermittent packet loss for both connections.
*Either one disabled = The enabled hardware works as intended.

Here's a scenario I just did testing out the performance both while streaming music over bluetooth, and while not streaming over bluetooth, here are my bizarre results:

Streaming a 6minute song when performing a SpeedTest at: http://www.speedtest.net/

  • Initial Ping: 23ms
  • Download Speed Result: 0.08Mbps
  • Upload Speed Result: 0.69Mbps

Results of Speedtest while not streaming anything over Bluetooth:

  • Initial Ping: 12ms
  • Download Speed Result: 10.77Mbps
  • Upload Speed Result: 5.97Mbps

Simple PING test (count:50) to Google.com while streaming audio over Bluetooth:

Ping statistics for 173.194.33.135:
Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 42, Lost = 8 (16% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 10ms, Maximum = 3051ms, Average = 355ms

Simple PING test (count:50) to Google.com while not streaming audio over Bluetooth:

Ping statistics for 173.194.33.160:
Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 46, Lost = 4 (8% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 8ms, Maximum = 455ms, Average = 28ms

(To be fair, I almost always get a few dropped packets when looking at network traces, but for the most part with general use I can never tell it happens).

All of these tests were done without me moving my laptop. Router is 10feet away, with nothing obstructing between the laptop and the router.

Few things to note:

I see significant performance impact when doing even the simplest task that requires an Internet Browser. However, small Pings results in less performance impact.

When I look at perfmon, oddly enough Windows says Bluetooth is "Not Connected" so I can't see how much data is being transferred. No idea why.

Specs/Drivers:
OS: Windows 8.1, fully patched as of 09/23/2015
DW1560 Bluetooth 4.0 LE. version: 12.0.1.330 (Date: 3/17/2015)
Dell Wireless 1560 802.11ac. Version: 6.30.223.262 (Date: 3/12/2015)

Again, it seems that the wifi network adapter itself works fine. Once I try to stream anything over Bluetooth, then start to transfer data over wifi, I see significant packet loss. It makes using Bluetooth impossible unless I disable my wifi.

I appreciate any assistance with this. I doubt I'm the only one running into this issue, but I couldn't find any solutions, or fixes to any other posts remotely related to this.

Thanks.

Latitude E6400 Mousepad not working

$

I purchased a second hand E6400 laptop and loaded it up with Windows 7 professional.

The mousepad didn't work, so i couldn't click terms and conditions on installation. To get the Windows 7 to load up I went into the bios and clicked on "serial mouse" and this enabled me to load Windows 7.

Now I want to enable "Touchpad-PS/2" in bios to see if the touchpad will work.

The problem is after pressing "F2" to enter the bios the touchpad does not work (because it is turned off) and the USB mouse doesn't work whilst in the bios menu either, so I cant change the setting (no way to change the radio button setting).

Any help appreciated.

Perform Windows 10 clean install & delete Dell Recovery Partition Windows 7 ?

Hi,

  • The original Dell Recovery Partition on my laptop (2013 model) is a Windows 7 version
  • I also created a Dell Restore Media (Windows 7) on a USB stick.
  • However, recently I upgraded to Windows 10
  • Assume now I create a Windows 10 clean install on a USB stick
  • Also I downloaded the required Dell Drivers on a USB.
  • I also got the Win 10 activation key
  • And I want now perform a clean WIndows 10 installation

Questions to be answered:

  1. Screenshot above, I assume this my current Windows 7 Factory Recovery File?

        2.  Do I first need to delete this Recovery (D:) ?       If yes, how?

         3. After the removal, would I still be able to use my current Windows 10 (with no problems, in the period of time before the Windows 10 clean installation)?

        4. Any additional suggestions/tips?

Thank you in advance!

ID for system image partition

hi,

I just want to know if someone is so kind to type 5 lines of commands and get the ID for system image partition for me.

I have an Alienware 18 laptop and the problem I have is that I lost all partitions on my H.D.D including recovery partitions and I`m trying to rebuild them by my self.

As far as i remember there were 2 recovery partitions there, one  was 400 MB and the other one which system image was mount on  was something around 8 GB. now what i need is the ID for this partition.

to get it you have to do the following:

open cmd

type Diskpart

list disk (if you have only one HDD you don`t need to do this)

select disk X (X= the number of hard disk which have recovery partition on it)

list partition  (here you will see 2 partitions which their type is set as recovery)

select partition X (X=the number of partition with system image installed on it)

detail partition

now it will show you the partition`s details, if you are so kind please copy/paste them here.

Laptop no longer shuts down

$

Hi,

My Dell Inspiron 7000 17R laptop was recently upgraded to Windows 10. With the installation going smoothly, the only issue I have noticed is this one. The laptop now refuses to perform a complete shut down or hibernation.

When the laptop is set to shut down or enter hibernation, the hard drive stops spinning and the CD ROM slows to a halt. However, the keyboard stays lit and the CPU/fan continue to run. There are no other status LEDs that blink and the computer does not respond to the keyboard or trackpad. At this time the monitor is also completely black with no sign of life. Pressing and holding the power button will turn off the laptop and tapping it once more will boot it back up as if everything was okay.

I have upgraded all of the drivers to Windows 10 from Dell's support page for this laptop, including the BIOS.

I have ran CHKDSK, Memory Checks, cleaned the hard drive, reinstalled some drivers, yet the issue still remains.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

Again...the computer runs fine, but when entering shutdown or hibernation causes the computer to turn off, expect for the keyboard LEDs, CPU, and fan.

Thanks!

Already Discouraged

I purchased an expensive laptop in 2013. I also purchased and am still covered by an extended warranty. The laptop is officially defective... over the course of two years, the motherboard has been replaced four times, the ac port has been replaced 3 times, the OS has been replaced in the past week, and the laptop still is completely nonfunctional.

I really just want it replaced (or my money back), but I can see from the experiences listed here, that could be a harrowing ordeal, and I don't see why.

Clearly, I paid numerous hundreds of dollars for a defective product, and an extended warranty that I shouldn't have needed to use so many times. Why might this be difficult for Dell to make right?

Yes, I know, I haven't given you any specifics here, I just want to know what on earth has to happen to a laptop before you realize there's no fixing it and you should replace it, or refund my money. How many more motherboards could I possibly try? At this point, there is almost nothing left of the original laptop I purchased, except the plastic box the rest of the hardware comes in.

I'm very disappointed and discouraged as I realize, reading through this forum and other online customer service reviews this morning, that dealing with Dell on this issue is likely to be a terrible experience. I sincerely hope not, but I am not hopeful.
