After enter BIOS menu, if I want to restart from ctrl+alt+del key combination, the computer would go black screen and never restart. I have to press power button again to force shut off the computer. In more detail, after I press the three keys, the power button light slowly go dimer and dimer until off. Then power button light turn on completely. Then nothing happens......

Another issue is that sometimes the computer does not shut off completely, meaning that keyboard light and power button light is on while other parts seems complete off.

These two issues may not be critical, but really annoying. I suspect it is BIOS related bug because it happens recently, probably after I upgrade my BIOS to A05.

Hi,

I have asked this question before but since the problem is still there I post this again.

I have a dell studio 1535, Vista home premium

Suddenly  the keyboard stop function.

I have to shut down the computer physically and reboot and then it function again for a vile.

I have downloaded and installed the BIOS and the Shipset as suggested earlier, but this did not solve the problem.

I should be very glad if somebody can help me.

Hi, I can't access to my wireless network because it seems there is no more wifi card install on my computer.

I perform the INTEL PROset Wireless diagnostics and the first test on hardware failed caus pilot problems.

When I'm looking for the card I can't find it as hardware (but the card fisicaly is connected)

how to solve the problem?

I updated windows 7 to 10 on this laptop.

It works fine, except that the brightness of the screen can not be adjusted anymore. Dell is not supporting this product for Windows 10, which I think is odd, since it is only 4 yrs old and a high end model.

Is there a solution or work around? Downgrading to windows 7 again is not really an option.

Any help appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

I have an XPS 14z.  I don't belive Dell makes batteries for this computer any longer.  So I purchased an OEM.

I have tried three.  They all yield the same time, i.e., 90 minutes. 

When this computer was new it got more than that.

Win 10, 256 SSD i7

May I kindly ask if anyone has any suggestions?

The reasons why are a long story I won't go into, but I removed the HDD out of my M731 Inspiron, (running W10) so I could put a different hard drive in long enough to boot up and locate a saved file. After replacing the original HDD and rebooting, I am having problems connecting to the network router. Some of the problems are:

router "A" does not show up in list, router A does show up but disappears when trying to connect, "ANY router" connects with only "Limited" connection, PC will no longer auto connect to any network after resuming from sleep or restarting, very seldom but will lose connection for no reason. 

Most of my problem is with one particular router (router A), but does affect any wifi connection. When I'm not able to connect to router A, I can connect to either my phone's hotspot or my son lives next door and I can connect to his router no problem (but again will not autoconnect even though the auto connect box is checked). 

There should be 4 networks visible, two of those (three with phone), I have access to, clicking on any of the networks will cause all of them to disappear. Sometimes I try to connect to all three the second or third time and can only get a limited connection, so I have to dis/re-enable the wireless adapter, which will allow me to connect to at least one of them. 

Before swapping the HDD's, when the pc would resume/wake up, it would auto connect to my preferred network no problem, and now the other devices in the house will connect to any of the connections with no problem, it's only my pc that has a problem. 

I have reinstalled the WIFI driver from the enclosed disk, and I have downloaded the newest driver from the Dell support site, with no luck, it seems that there is a setting somewhere that I have forgot about. Since the drivers have been reinstalled, I wouldn't think that was the problem, the fact that I can always connect to other networks (even after the second or third try), confuses me. Yes, the problem does affect all networks, but why is this one so much of a problem. After being connected to a different network for about 10 minutes, I can then click on Network A, and it connects perfect, but ONLY after connecting to a different network first. There are times that Network A will connect the first time, which also confuses me, it should either connect or not connect, a random connection does not make sense. 

I know it has to do with swapping the HDD's, but I can't find a reason for the problem, do you have any idea's?

Recently installed Win7 32bit in my new Inspiron 3542. Installed chipset, IME, Quickset.

But i'm unable to change display brightness. In control panel also setting is not visible. Volume keys are working correctly.

Plz suggest a solution.

I am back again with this Dell laptop ()S- Windows 7).  After my last couple of posts/threads everything seems to run fine,

As regards the battery on this machine are there problems with this particular model ?  Work solely with the battery and on checking it always shows that the battery is running down, ie % and minutes left. Plug into the mains, and the icon shows that it is 'plugged in and charging'; check that and it shows the % increasing.

Yet, even after plugging into mains and carrying on, frequent checks shows increases in % until reaching 82 or 83%, and then it just sticks at that figure, and it never increases above that fig. ie 82-83%

New battery needed ??

I apologize if this has been posted somewhere. I searched unsuccessfully.

I have an Inspiron 15 3000 Series with Windows 8 that I have not used and I'm considering selling it. I need to reset it to the way it was when I received it from Dell 4 months ago. I'm assuming that's a "Factory Reset."

There's nothing on it that I need to save (documents, pictures, etc.). I did hookup my Outlook email to my Internet provider and made some changes to the screens, deleted some tiles, etc.

Can someone help? Thanks in advance

Hi guys i wonder if somebody could tell me whats going on, I have an inspiron 1525 running vista (but also tried it with another drive running windows 7) it no longer has any display on booting though i can see a backlight and hear the windows sound. i ran diagnostics and got the error LCD EDID unable to access EDID EEPROM.but this is the bit that is getting me, if i hold down D when i boot it boots absolutely fine and the display is perfect !!

                                               Any Ideas ?

I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3147, recently when I plugged in the charger, it wouldn't go by a certain percentage, so I decided to unplug, when I plugged it back in it said plugged in, not charging.  I

I tried everything, plugging it back in. Bios is updated, and a quick check of the battery says that is working fine, so I put it on sleep mode, when I woke up this morning and turned on the laptop, I put it in to charge it worked and has been working since.

I am writing to you to see if I can figure out what the problem was and if there is a solution to this problem, I tried looking the issue up without any success.

We purchased an E7450 recently. It is having intermittent problems since day one. It will sometimes fail to boot up, or even not power on even when the battery is fully charged or plugged in. After troubleshooting various components, we realized if we remove the battery, removed the palm rest screws and reinserted the battery, it worked fine. Once we put the screws back, the laptop failed to power up.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

My laptop's battery was working perfectly with 8.1 and laptop was turning on after I put it to SLEEP.

After upgrade to Win 10, I started to encounter problems with battery drain and my laptop would not wake up after SLEEP.  I would have to HOLD the POWER button down and the computer would RESTART.

After charging my computer fully I would SHUT DOWN, and then 8 hours later the computer would not turn on (battery at 0% or 1%).

When I would put the laptop to sleep, my laptop would not wake up after clicking the power button.  I would need to hold the power button for the computer to RESTART.

I have seen suggestions from the community but I really would like to receive a response from a DELL representative so that I do not make any mistakes.

Please let me know what should be done to fix this problem which forces me to carry my power cord with me everywhere.

Recently, I've been having an issue with my XPS L521X laptop that's about two years old.  The power button is set to send the computer into hibernate, and it does this just fine.  However, it only stays like this for thirty seconds or so -- then, the system seems to start up again (drive spins, fan at full power, keyboard backlight on).  It gets very hot when in this state and drains the battery quickly.  If I push the power button again, it goes into hibernate for good.

Any suggestions to resolve this problem?

When i plug in the charger and hit the power button on my laptop nothing happens. i can see the power LED flashing but my laptop wont turn on. Neither my laptops fan run nor the cd-drive. it feels like my laptop is not getting the power supply at all. i checked the power supply charger and everything is fine. i also removed battery and did the 30 second trick but it won't start what should  i do?????? please help

Till yesterday my laptop was fine but now it won't start. Neither my CPU fan runs when i hit the power button nothing happens, just the power LED flashes. i don't know what's going on and i have checked my charger and mains but everything is fine. i have also tried the 30 second power button trick by removing the battery and ac charger plug but nothing happens........ please help me figure this out......

I have never seen in all my years of using a computer more Inspirons, Vostros, Alienware and XPS having so many issues that it makes my head spin.

Does this tell any of you anything?

I use Latitudes and you rarely see a post.

I've confirmed from Dell technical support on call that my Inspiron 15R (n5110) has a dedicated nVidia GT 525M.The frustrating problem is that my computer doesn't detect anything. Other than the Dell drivers, nothing!  Device Manager can't even find it

Normally the nVidia driver should be displayed here, but it isn't. Other posts say I have to reinstall nVidia. I've tried installing the drivers from this site and from nVidia's site, but both say "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue" "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

I can't seem to fix the keys on my keyboard. I have a Dell Inspiron 3542 and I can't seem to correctly assemble the retainer for the keyboard cap, please help
