How to boot from USB Storage device?

My BIOS is version A16 and the computer Inspiron 7720.
When I go to the Boot Priority section of the BIOS settings it shows that "Legacy Boot" is enabled.

Following the on screen instruction I use the Down Arrow to select from the list:
"+USB Storage Device"

I then attempt to move this list option to the top of the list using the "+ / -" keys.
There is no response. The item does not move up in the list.
Please can you tell me how I can make this work?

Screen going black but still running

This issue has been going on for quite some time now. My screen randomly goes black, usually while I'm playing games or using the browser. It used to be just when I was using any browser, but its developed onto when I play certain games. This has ruined some progress on papers I've written (several hours lost can be quite annoying), so I decided to put all the info here to see if I could get any help on the situation. The computer is still running fine whilst the screen is black, I can even keep skype calls going and hear people talking while not seeing a thing. The only way to get the screen to come back is to force shut it off. I've also plugged in an external monitor to test if its a hardware issue or an in system issue. Both screens crash indicating that its simply a system error.

My specs:

Dell precision M6500

Windows 7, updated to windows 10, its happened on both versions

Nvidia Quadro FX 2800M, up to date

Intel Core i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53 GHz

Windows 10 update for Synaptics Touchpad trashes gestures

Windows updates on Sept. 12 trashed my Touchpad settings with the install of a new Synaptics driver on my Inspiron 15-5547.  It changed gestures to use some new Windows 10 features that I DO NOT WANT TO USE and disabled the gestures I had been using since I got this laptop 9 months ago.

I solved it by uninstalling the driver then reinstalling an old version, but I am concerned that in future Windows update is going to trash this again.

This is a flawed process.  The whole idea of forcing Windows updates on Windows 10 is wrong, and the idea of changing a driver that changes desired functionality is a huge mistake.

I think Microsoft, Dell, Synaptics, whoever is responsible for this bad decision should re-visit it.  I just spent over an hour fooling around trying to get my functionality back to where it was.  I do not want it changed by anyone.  What is so hard to understand about that?  I tried to bring this to the attention of Dell support, but it appears they do not want to hear it, since I am not allowed to contact them by email or chat and the phone line is just useless.

I have had many Dell laptops, and sold many to customers, but that is about to end if this is the way Dell is going to conduct business.

Hi

Help

I have a dell Latitude E6400 with a pcmcia slot. i use 2 different types of card for work. PC is running windows 7. Why is it so difficult to get the pcmcia cards to work. I know the cards are ok cause they work on an older machine. I have upgraded to the latest bios and dell updates and running all the latest software we use. In device manager the cards both say they are working properly .

But still will not operate.

2015 XPS 13 9343 whining noise

I am having an issue with the 2015 XPS 9343. I recently updated my bios to the latest version and now I notice an annoying issue with "whine". I don't know if it is related to the bios update or not but I absolutely didn't have this issue before recently, or if I did, I didn't notice it. There is this high frequency whining noise coming from the unit. Kind of sounds like a high frequency morse code. The fan isn't running and there is no mechanical hard drive (ssd). Seems to get louder when typing and scrolling in web pages and then usually goes away when idle only to come back with more typing/scrolling. Any suggestions?

Dell Inspiron 3543 charging issue: Plugged in, no charging, Ac Adapter Type :Unknown

Hi Everyone,

From the last few days, my laptop stop charging the battery, give Error (Plugged In, not charging) & in BIOS show AC adapter type (Unknown), however, In control panel power options shows the battery is normal & is functioning properly. Sometimes also show (ac adapter type not determined) on windows screen when plug the charger in. I am currently using 65W charger for my  dell laptop. Also, when I use the charger to charge my own HP laptop with same charging jack, it is charging. I try to use the HP charger to charge Dell laptop  but no success. Further, I search on google regarding the same issue and try some troubleshooting steps but all in vain. Last but not least, when I shut down the laptop and restart it, for a time being the charging indicator light show light and suddenly disappear after 3-4 seconds.

Any suggestions

Problem - Alienware 17 monitor

Hello,

i've an Alienware 17 laptop bought in 2013.

Suddenly my monitor has started to act strange, displaying waves of interferences on the whole screen: sometimes they fades away, sometimes i can barely see them, other times they're clearly evident. They reminds me theese kind of interferences that used to appear on old chatode televisions.

I've tried to reinstall all my video drivers (intel and nvidia) but the problem persists.

I've also tried to boot with live ubuntu but the problem again persists.

How can i fix this?
Thanks for any reply and sorry for my bad english.

Battery and laptop problem

Hi,

I've had my Dell Latitide E6330 laptop for about 2 years now. Recently it keeps turning off when I move the laptop slightly. When it is plugged into the mains it doesn't do this but when it's detached the laptop turns off if I move it slightly. The battery runs fine if I keep the laptop still.

What can I do to stop this occurring?

Many thanks

When I use the A/C adapter that came with my laptop the systems runs very slow. Unplug it and it runs normally. When on the docking station it runs normally.

Has anyone had this experience?

Thanks...Sammy

7737 Series AC Charger Not Recognized

My Latitude 17 7000 laptop is just under a year old, spends most of its time on my desk plugged into the original Dell charger. Today I noticed that the power indicator in the system trey shows the AC adapters is not plugged it (i.e. I see the battery icon with partial depletion indication, 77% power remaining). I checked the surge protector the AC adapter is plugged in to; its ok.  I unplug the DC connector from the laptop, wait a few seconds, plug it back in.  Power indicator in the system trey momentarily shows the AC adapter symbol and then reverts to indication of no AC adapter connection. I checked the voltage potential at the AC adapter's DC connector and verify 18.5 vdc with Fluke 8060A DVM.  It appears the AC adapter is working correctly.

While typing this post the power indicator in the system trey now indicates connection to the AC adapter; everything appears normal. I would estimate this happened around 75% power remaining.

Perhaps the system periodically allows the battery to discharge to a 75% state for battery health?

Loud beeps on brand new Inspiron 11 3000

$

From the first time I powered on this brand new Inspiron 11 3000, I get a series of five earsplitting loud beeps. The series of five beeps repeats 2-4 times before the system starts up.

Sometimes when the notebook is in sleep mode it will do a series of 3 or 4 beeps.

These beeps are so loud that the dog hides. I can't take this laptop out in public with all this beeping, and this thing is brand new. Ordered 9-8-15 and delivered on 9-12-15.

Help?
