Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade my M1530 from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but the Update app tell me my CPU is not supports ( its a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHZ).

If I try upgrading using the Windows Media Creator, I get told the same thing ( but I get a bit more info, that my processor doesn't support NX).

When I go into the BIOS settings, the EXECUTE-DISABLE Bit Capability is ENABLED ( if I set it to OFF, Windows 7 Boot loops with a BSOD, which flashes up to fast for me to read).

Has anyone else managed to update there XPS M1530 to windows 10? ?

Can someone explain what I need to do to get the update to work?

I read that the original update app was distributed with a bug that gave a false negative on CPU compatibility, and that KB2952664 patches this error, up I cannot see it to download, Its not in my updated list, and I'm unsure if this it the correct procedure.

If any one could help, that would be great.

Hi Members,

Until last week I had no issues with my system. but since yesterday when I switch on my laptop , I was unable to do so. So I connected my AC adapter and switched it on and it shows that it apparently "CANNOT DETECT THE BATTERY". So, I searched online and found out by updating the BIOS it may get fixed, it DIDN'T . 

Can Someone help me with this. The problem is I am out of warranty and I have seen people saying that changing battery may not fix it also. 

Open to any suggestions.

I am using DELL inspiron 15R for just over 1 year.

I have a Dell latitude laptop which has suddenly stopped working. When I press the power button the led lights and the fans run but the screen displays nothing.  After about 15 seconds the power light goes off but the other side leds (eg for the wifi, battery)  come on, almost like it has gone to sleep. I've tried charging the battery  and running it from the ac without the battery and that doesn't change anything.  Can anyone help?

I select the USB Storage Device option in the list and try to move it to the top using "+/-" keys.
The item will not move up in the list. How can I overcome this problem?

Hi

 

I have a Inspiron N4030. last week I tried connecting an External hard drive (a new one from Seagate). The system got blank and stuck after I tried transferring some data from lap to the hard drive and I had to shut down from main power. Ever since my lap is not switching on (or at least the screen is not getting on) and keeps playing the 8 beeps.

 

Please help.

Hi,

I updated my Vostro 8.1 to W10 about month or two ago. But now 3G modem stopped working. When I tried to make 3G connection I got only error message:

Can't connect to this network enter an apn and try again. I have several times removed and re-entered my apn information but that didn't not helped.

I noticed that Dell has updates these 3G modem drivers but how I can install of them? Windows 10 does not agree these drivers when I tried install these manually and when I tried to use this Dell own setup I only got error No action was taken as a system reboot is required.

Bluetooth not working? headphones work on other things, neither work on this – issue: they will ‘pair’, but then won’t connect.

I believe the card is 'Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265AC 802.11ac/a/b/g/n 2x2 + Bluetooth 4.0 LE'

Reinstalled win 8.1 on a new larger hard drive, everything works now except bluetooth.   Laptop has a DW1707 wireless/bluetooth module.  I installed the latest 1707 driver off the dell site, no errors reported.   Wireless works fine but not bluetooth.  There are no entries in the device list for bluetooth or other unidentified devices.  Is this a hardware issue or software?

The OEM power supply for the Dell D3100 is a 19.5V 65W supply. The power supply is making irritating whining noises. I have a 19.5V 45W charger lying around. It is an unused Dell laptop charger.

Will using the 45W charger be ok for the D3100? What are the specs for the D3100? Does it require the amperage that the original power supply is providing?

i have a dell inspiron 6400, this time when i tried to switch it on, it can't start. it just shows the led lights and then suddenly turns off without anything on the screen. i tried to test the RAM but the RAM is ok, even tried another RAM still behaved the same. this time now when i removed the hard-drive and switched it on that's when i saw horizontal lines on the dark screen there after received two beeps. please help

Hello, 

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 which is almost five years old now. This morning during normal use, both monitors corrupted (I have an external monitor in addition to the LCD display), with random pixels displayed in patterns across the monitor. The computer then crashed and on restart emitted 8 beeps, indicating LCD system failure. The LCD screen does not work at all, the external monitor partially work with 4 vertical bars of random pixels being displayed across the start up screen, or extreme fuzziness on the Boot Menu. I have not been able to successfully start the computer (it crashes after a certain point). 

I have checked the internal LCD and VGA cables to the best of my abilities and they do not seem to have any problems (e.g. displacement). I understand this computer is quite old in technological terms, so essentially I'm just asking: am I right in thinking that it is most likely to be the Graphics Card that has failed? If so, is this a replaceable component or is it integrated into the motherboard? 

I assume it is not just the LCD system as the external monitor does not work properly with the computer either.

I've tried upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1 using the Get Windows 10 app and also using WIndows 10 media download tool. I failed all the time. And when I asked Microsoft Support they said my dell model is not supported for Windows 10 upgrade and in Dell site too  it says this model in not suitable for Windows 10. So is there any work around for this ?

Additional Information :

This is the error code I got Error C1900101-20004 . I removed all external devices during the upgrade process and my  C drive had 35 GB free space. My hidden recovery drive is 100 MB

Hello, is have still problems on E7740 A11 with Win8 on mSATA SSD. There is 50% chance the system won resume from hibernate, but starts fresh start-up.

event viewer shows:

Kernel-Power (Critical) ID 41: system rebooted without cleanly shutting down
Kernel-Boot (Error) ID 16: Windows failed to resume from hibernate 0xC000411

What causes it? How can i solve it. I have Fast-Boot in WIn8 enabled and i want use it.

IN Firmware settings i think these settings are related to this:
POST Mode: Minimal(Thorough,auto)
SATA  Mode:RAID/AHCI(Legaci IDE)
SEcure boot Disabled
Legacy option rom disab led

I've just restored my father's laptop to factory settings and it is now asking me for a key for MS Office 2007.  Is there anyway to recover the key?  There is no disk we are aware of.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-3521.I used it this morning without any issues. It started perfectly, worked perfdctly, and shut down like normal without issues. I went to work and returned about eight hours later. When I went to start the latop, the light indicating the power was on lit up,but the screen stayed black. A beeping noise occured- four beeps starting loud and getting softer, this occurs three times total before the entire computer shut down. I tried plugging in my laptop to the charger, and the light on the screen lit up. The lights on the cd drive also light up.

Any suggestions? I need this fixed, I'm a college student and a lot of my course work relies on having a laptop- my tablet only does so much.

My laptop hard drive crashed and I need to get a new one. But, my machine is out of warranty. Is there some way to get a copy of Windows so I can reinstall it on the new hard drive? I don't know the serial number because the hard drive is corrupt and I can't get the data off of it... [:(]

Hi guys,

Is it normal that the battery wear after 4 weeks is droped by 8,5 % from the factory capacity ?

Is there a way to recalibrate the battery in dell 9343 ? Or any other option to fix this ?

By the way Im getting a very good results on this machine - having i5, 256 gb, 8 gb ram, win 10 - using onenote, notepad and edge *also some itunes and web downloads) I was able to squeeze up to 12 h of battery time - if using only onenote and notepad - and brightness on 0% ( Im sitting in a dark room) I would probably get around 14 h...

But Im worried about this battery wear drop....

Any sugestions ?

My BIOS is version A16 and the computer Inspiron 7720.

When I go to the Boot Priority section of the BIOS settings it shows that "Legacy Boot" is enabled.

Following the on screen instruction I use the Down Arrow to select from the list:

"+USB Storage Device"

I then attempt to move this list option to the top of the list using the "+ / -" keys.

There is no response. The item does not move up in the list.

Quite regularly I boot into Ubuntu from an external USB drive.

I can press "F12" at startup and choose to boot from the "+USB Storage Device" there.

The ability to press "F12" passes really fast though and the opportunity is often missed,

leaving me to go through the Windows 7 boot up procedure, then a restart to try again.

I would prefer to be able to set this boot order in the BIOS settings.

Please can you tell me how I can do this?
