Dell Stage & Windows 10

Hello,

My laptop came preinstalled with Dell Stage. Since purchasing I have upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7.

Dell Stage is not compatible with Win 10. (see below)

I have tried to uninstall Dell Stage from my system, but that has proved to be impossible.

I have visited Dell Downloads to try to get another full version of the pre-installed software, but that appears to also be impossible as Dell Downloads does not load anything.

Dell Stage doesn't work on Win 10. It was preinstalled on my laptop. I can't uninstall Dell Stage from my system. I can't get onto Dell Downloads.

Dell Stage attempts to load on startup, and it slows down the startup considerably.

So, what are my options?

Beyond frustrated.  This laptop is less than 3 months old and for the past several days we have been unable to connect to our internet and have had 6 different error messages:

1).  Bad Pool Caller

2).  1RQL_Not_Less_or_Equal

3). System Service Exception

4). Kernel Security Check Failure

5). Reference by pointer (tcpip.sys)

6). DNS Server isn't responding

Does anyone know what these errors are and how to fix them?  Are they software issues or hardware issues?  When I contacted Dell last night, I was told that the warranty did not cover software issues and if I did not want to purchase a software contract they could not help me.

Inspiron 17R 5720 optical drive not working

I don't know when the last time was that it worked, but one day I went to use it and nothing

The device manager sees it and says it has the correct and most up to date drivers but device manager show that little yellow triangle sign with the exclamation point.

  • HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GT80N ATA Device
    • Device Status: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

I purchased an external USB DVD drive yesterday, but that shows the same error. No drivers are needed for it. I tried in on another PC and the external drive was found and worked so there is something wrong with whatever it is that runs CD/DVD hardware.

I downloaded and installed every driver on dells support page for my lappy .... no joy and the diagnostic test resulted in no problems detected,

I hope someone can help otherwise this laptop has a date with a 9mm.

Thanks for your time.

XPS L702X webcam not recognized - already reinstalled Dell Webcam Central Software and then it failed again

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS L702X laptop with integrated webcam, and I have a webcam software failure that is recurring.

About 3 weeks ago, I was using Skype, and all of a sudden, Skype could no longer "find my webcam."  I confirmed this to be the case by opening Skype>Tools>Options>Video settings, which states "Skype couldn't find a webcam."

I reconfirmed there was a software failure by opening Dell Webcam Central which showed a message stating "No Supported Webcam."

I used Dell's Troubleshooter (), which instructed me to un-install Dell Webcam Central and re-install it.  After re-installing, the webcam worked perfectly for about 1-2 weeks (both Dell Webcam Central worked and Skype webcam worked), but it has failed again.  I turned on Skype today, and the same problem is happening.  Skype and Dell Webcam Central cannot find a webcam.

I'm afraid to un-install and re-install Dell Webcam Central software again, because Dell limits owners to only 3 installations.  I believe that my video drivers are up to date.  Should I give up on the integrated webcam and purchase an external webcam?

Thanks so much for your time and expertise!

Successfully Upgraded My 1TB Dell Inspiron 5437 Laptop HDD to Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB SSD

I just wanted to help others who may be considering upgrading their 1TB HDD to a SSD in their Dell Inspiron 5437 laptop.  Prior to receiving my Samsung SSD, I purchased a Sabrent 2.5" Sata Hard Drive/SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter cable from Amazon.com.

Prior to attempting to clone my 1TB HDD to the 512GB SSD, I used EASUS Partition Master 10.5 Freeware to resize each of my partitions (C, D, E) to get below the 512GB limit on my new SSD drive.  I also moved the unallocated space at the end of each partition to the very end of the HDD using the EASUS Partition Master 10,5 software.  This left me with my original 1TB HDD containing all the original partitions below 512GB so it would ultimately fit onto the new 512GB Samsung SSD.

I installed the Samsung Data Migration and Samsung SSD Magician software that came with my new SSD drive prior to migrating the data from my original 1TB HDD to my new SSD.  After installation, I connected my new SSD to the USB 3.0 port on my laptop and ran the Samsung Data Migration.
The problem with running the Samsung Data Migration program is that it only copied over the C, D, E Data partitions.  There were other Dell partitions on my original HDD that did not get copied over as I expected.  I then ran the EASUS Partition Master 10.5 and deleted all the partitions on the SSD except the 1st one (1MB) unallocated partition.

I then used Macrium Reflect Freeware to clone my original 1TB HDD to my new SSD.  After 30-40 minutes, it completed copying all the partitions to the SSD.  I then removed my original 1TB HDD and installed the new Samsung EVO Pro 512GB SSD in place of the HDD.  It booted just fine.  I ran the Samsung Magician software and set the SSD to maximum performance.

I would say that my laptop now boots up in 1 minute from complete shutdown to when all the background programs and icons are finish loading.  Prior to installing the SSD, it would probably take 2 minutes or more to get to the same point of being able to use the laptop.  Firefox, Excel  and other programs seems to be quicker as well. Hope this helps others in upgrading from HDD to SSD.

Originally, I planned to remove the DVD/CD Optical Drive and purchase a Optical Drive HDD Caddy that would allow me to re-use my 1TB HDD drive in the DVD/CD writer.  I haven't purchased the CD Caddy yet.

The problem I am having is that when I connect my original 1TB HDD to the 2.5" Hard Drive/SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter and insert it into the USB 3.0 port, Windows and Disk Management does not see the old 1TB HDD.  Eventually, I wanted to re-format the 1TB HDD so I could use it as a 2nd HDD in my laptop.

If anyone has any suggestions/solutions, please let me know.

Ghost Screen/High Brightness Dell XPS 13 9343

Hello,

About 3 weeks (end of August 2015) my laptop freaked out and started flickering.  After a couple seconds of this it settled down and kept a 'ghost screen' on the screen.  It's like the brightness is turned up all the way.  I've played a couple of different games but the video settings I have are very low.  In addition I have a cooling fan underneath the laptop for cooling purposes.  When this 'ghost screen' happens it renders my laptop basically useless.  It takes around 24 hours for my laptop to return to normal.  However, it comes back on after about 15mins-2 hours.  My usage on my laptop is light to mild.  I've done the dell driver update about 20 times.  I've done a totally reboot of my system and since I just bought it about 4 weeks ago it is well under warranty.  I've also done every system scan Dell has to offer and it says my laptop is running fine.  At this point how do I return my laptop to Dell to get a new one?  Any help on this problem or how to return would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Why does my "R" key only work on one side?

I have a Dell N5050 and have had it for a few years now and recently I have been having trouble with some of my keys. Most recently, I have had a peculiar issue with my "R" key. For some reason, the key only responds when I press it anywhere but the left side of the key. If I hold it down, it will respond, but just normal keystrokes do not work. I have cleaned under the key several times and the problem still persists. Is there anyone else who has had this problem? Is there a solid solution to this problem?

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series goes to sleep when plugged into power

Hi!
I have a brand new (like 2 month old) Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series and I've noticed a problem with it. If i turn on the laptop and it's not plugged in, it runs just fine. However, when it's already on and I plug it in to the power, the screen goes to black and after a few seconds it goes to sleep. After, I turn it on again and it works just fine. However, this issue has happened a couple of times before and I don't know what to do to stop it. HELP

All Programs Downloaded From Web are Miniature?

0

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series laptop. It was operating on Windows 8.1 still, and I installed McAfee antivirus on it. However, anytime I opened up McAfee, everything in the program was miniature; everything was reduced to being extremely small, basically unreadable. I tried maximizing the window, which had no effect. Later on, I installed a few more programs from the web browser(not from the Microsoft store or whatever that is called). They too were all experiencing the same problem, they were all miniature. One of which was a game.
Basically anything I download via the web is impossible to use because it is reduced to an extremely tiny size. How may I fix this?
I have searched everywhere on google and have had no results.

I just used this program as a quick picture as I deleted the rest of the programs.

The first one is the regular window, whereas the second picture is the maximized version.

Inspiron 15 5558 Windows 10 issues?

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 5558 and noticed that my brightness adjustment does not work on the keyboard.  In Bios I can adjust it, when in Windows I cannot, even when unplugged, full brightness.  Then I also noticed that when I put my computer to sleep and go to wake it up with the ESC key that does not work. I can only wake it up with the mouse, power button and touchpad buttons. Updated drives and nothing helps.  Any help is appreciated.

Windows 10 and Intel Rapid Start Technology

0

I have a 2013 XPS 15 (9530) and just performed a clean Windows 10 install on it, and whilst putting everything back I realized that the Intel Rapid Start Application has not been updated since 2013 (not be confused with Intel Rapid Store Technology, also IRST, not confusing at all).

So my question is ..... should I bother with Rapid Start anymore or has this been superseded by anything. The current XPS BIOS (just updated) still has support for rapid start, but there does not seem to be any new software for Windows 10. The most recent version runs on Win10, and it does seem to be working, but it seems strange that its so old. Am I missing something? Does Win10 not need rapid start?

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

XPS 13 (2015) HELP! Problem with Microsoft Word 2013 and Videos

Hi all

Recently I just installed the Microsoft Word 2013 and am unable to launch word documents that I have transferred from other computers.

The Words boot screen remains stuck at "Opening protected view" and remains stuck at that part.

Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome this?

Also, I am facing problems with my Youtube videos. The sound comes out before the motion picture begins and this problem persists even for facebook videos. Appears more of a lag between sound and video.

Can anyone assist please?

Thank you

Inspiron 7720 won't boot

0

My Inspiron 7720 has stopped booting. This started with it taking a very long (hours) time to boot last week. Once it did boot it was very very slow and then sped up to normal speed. I ran the dell diagnostics on it and one of the hard drives "failed" the testing. I'm not sure of the exact details. It recommended running chkdsk. I set it restart to chkdsk and restarted it. I paused at 10% for a very long time. I though it was frozen, but the circles were still spinning. I forced the power off and restarted and it again held at 10%. I left it overnight doing that and the next day it worked fine. The day after that, the same sort of thing started. It took 3 hours to boot to Windows and was slow for a little time and then worked OK. I re-ran the dell diagnostics and this time it said that it passed everything, but recommended that I run some memory diagnostic at the next restart. I clicked for it to do that and have not been able to boot to Windows since then. Now, whenever I try to boot, it enters an "automatic repair" process, which then says that it was unable to repair and needs to collect info. There is then a % the builds up to 100% and then it just sits there. I've left it that way for several hours without it changing, so I've forced the power off. I restarted from that and can get to a "restart" or "advanced options" selection. I've tried all of the advanced options and nothings seems to help. I've run chkdsk from the command prompt here on both of the drives and it finds no errors. I've tried to refresh and reset the PC and it can't refresh. When I try to reset with the Windows 8 Pro 64-bit installation disk that had installed on this PC about 2 years ago it says "The media inserted is not valid. Try again." I've try booting from the installation disc and the only way that I can seem to do this is to change the boot option to legacy. When I boot this way and try to reinstall windows, it can't find the C: drive anymore. It can't find anywhere to install. I've launched the command prompt from this and the "wmic logicaldisk get name" command shows only D: and X: drives. If I check this from the automatic repair access it shows C: D: E: and X:

Please Help.
