Dell Inspiron 15 7537 - Win 10 - Battery 0% due to fan still running after shut down

0

I have been using Win 10 for about a month now. Since Sunday night I belieThis issue has been hapenning since this week when I updated to A13 BIOS from dell's website. I believe its the chipset driver update that caused it.

I have tried:

- tweaking power options and selecting what power button does, it doesn't work, fan still running after shutdown

- reverted back to A12 bios, doesn't work, fan still running

- Uninstalled the 3 Intel drivers from control panel (as suggested on this forum by others).... doesn't work on mine.

This is not due to Win 10 because it was all fine for 3 weeks on Win 10. It is because, I believe, it happened after I updated the Bios to A13 and also the chipset driver on Dell's website using auto detect.

Can someone help me? I feel so helpless. I have been wasting my entire 2 days on forums and still there's little hope. My fan has been running for too long. Every night I work with 100% charge and in the morning it's down to 0.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

7537 boots to Black Screen after INVIDIA update

First of all, I filed a service request from Dell 20 days ago and my computer is under warranty......Nothing from them!

On August 2, 2015 I downloaded an update from Nvidia Geforce. Since then, my computer boots to a black screen and the hard drive light stays on constantly' I have Windows 8.1 and have not attempted to update to 10.

Since then, I have been able to boot to the ePAS diagnostic and ran a test and everything is fine. I booted to the BIOS screen and saved default settings. i have preformed all of the recommended steps including removal of the batter and releasing the static by pressing the power button multiple times with no results. Additionally, there are no peripherals attached.

Today I pulled the hard drive, put it in an external drive enclosure and hooked it up to my windows 7 machine. thankfully all of my files were there and I was able to clone the disk to a back up drive. My question is....now what. Since I can access all of the file from a different machine are there update files I should delete? Drivers I should download and install? I don't really know how to do any of that so if you have a fix, directions would be appreciated.

Alienware M17 R2: Unable to detect a bluetooth device

My laptop never was able to detect any bluetooth devices ever since factory delivered a few months ago. I never bothered, though - until I got new wireless headphones a few days ago.

Since the laptop internal bluetooth still does not work, I yesterday attached a bluetooth dongle (ASUS USB-BT400), device software installed fine. After the dongle installation, I disabled the internal bluetooth device.

Still no success: The "add a device" bluetooth option does not return any devices.

Am running W7 64, high level specs are here:

alienware-17-r2-speccy-jpg.1717

My bluetooth settings:

alienware-17-r2-bluetooth-settings-jpg.1

And yes, before anyone asks:

1.) The bluetooth symbol in my taskbar always did (and still does) show as "white on blue" (i.e. ready to connect).
2.) My bluetooth device (Samsung headphones) has enough battery, is turned on as detectable (am able to connect it via bluetooth to my iPhone without any issues), and within reach of the laptop.
3.) All drivers (per dell.com) are up to date.

I have searched the net for quite some time , but could not find any fix. Maybe sth in the bluetooth service / bluetooth support service settings? Both are started, though.

Thx for any help on this one!

I've got the same issue with my brand new E7450.

Updated the driver, increased sensitivity and disabled TouchGuard.

Still a problem. This is a big issue - I'm considering returning the laptop for a refund.

My laptop does not recognize my charger

I have dell inspiron 15 by 5000 series, its core i5 4th gen. I bought it around 7 months ago ...its still in warranty but i dont have a local warranty and i cant send it abroad. It was completely fine until last night...i woke up this morning and its not charging. I have no idea what went wrong, there is no burning smell...i didnt keep it plugged in so it couldn't have had some electric problem. It works as long as the charger is connected but if thr charger is removed it turns off. My drivers are up to date i checked. I cannot take out my battery so i cannot do anything of the things dell support has suggested in similar posts. I have exams and i need my laptop for them, please help.

Dell E5450 - random reboots, general erratic behaviour

After much research, I had requested for a E5450 to be issued at work (since it sounded like a good choice to run Linux). Got one, only to find that it is has a buggy BIOS. Updated to the new BIOS (A07) and now have the below listed troubles.

  • Random reboots, for no apparent reason.
  • Undocking from a Dell E port replicator dock causes a reboot. This issue is consistent. Though, this is mentioned as a supported accessory. Docking doesn't cause a reboot, only undocking does.
  • Random slow reboots.
  • Hibernate/suspend does not work at all.
  • Audio is terribly choppy and flaky. Random hang up as well. (keeps repeating the same sequence for about 15 secs and stops with a 3 second beep)
  • This comes with a hybrid hard drive. Looks like the fall sensor is too sensitive to the extent that the machine cannot be used while on a bus/car at all. And while doing so, machine reboots a lot, randomly.
  • Upon high loads, the machine just randomly reboots - specifically while running on battery.
  • Extremely bad battery backup. Battery doesn't last for > 1 hr, with no load on the machine (just a few terminal sessions and one instance of chrome with max 5 tabs open).

Anybody else facing a similar issue with an E5450?

Dell Inspiron won't turn on

Dell Inspiron 15-3521 touchscreen. I went to power up my laptop and it's dead. When I push the power button, the power light on the far left will light up but fan and screen never come on and there are no audio beeps. I have removed the battery and pushed power button for 30 seconds but it didn't work. Then plugged ac power cord which had the green light on the brick and tried to power on but the laptop won't budge. Can I hook up another pc or something to my Dell in an attempt to jumpstart it or something?

Restart issues

I have a Dell Inspiron N5050 with Intel i3 processor.  The hard drive recently failed and after I replace it and installed Windows 8.1, the system does not come back after restart.  I get the logo at system boot, then the Windows icon with the rotating circle (about 10 seconds) then the screen goes black. Hard drive activity does continue, but nothing ever comes up on the screen.  If I press the power button, the system goes to sleep, and on pressing the power button again it comes back.  Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

How do you reinstall when a Dell Laptop Hard Drive Fails after warranty with no installation media?

I'm trying to help my brother reinstall Windows on his 5 year old Dell Laptop. The hard drive failed. He bought a new one and now the new one has no Operating System. He has no disks from Dell at hand. He installed Windows 10 from the .iso and it won't activate. What's the best way to get windows running again in this case?

Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 Adapter "Failure"

Hello,

About 4-5 years ago I purchased a Dell laptop - model Inspiron 15R N5110. All this time I used the original battery and adapter which came with the laptop. Today, while using the laptop, The laptop stopped working completely and I can no longer power it on. After the laptop stopped working I noticed the light on the adapter's tip wasn't on. I disconnected the tip from the laptop, disconnected the adapter from the power and reconnected it to the power. (NOTE: I believe the battery on the laptop is dead and that the adapter went off and I was using the laptop only from the power supplied by the battery. So: battery is dead. Without a connection to power the laptop won't turn on.). After I reconnected the adapter to the power. The light of the tip went on. As soon as I plug the tip into my laptop the tip's light goes off and I can not turn on the laptop. Also: no lights at the bottom are on (For example: the "battery is charging" light). I tried using my previous dell laptop's adapter as in the past I tried connecting it and it could charge the current laptop: same case. The light bulb on the adapter itself goes off the moment I plug in the tip inside my laptop. The moment an adapter is one red to the laptop the adapter stops working.

What can I do to fix this problem? If the solution is to go to a technical lab or buy a new adapter - what is the estimated cost?

Thank you!

Mouse wheel problems

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 with Windows 8.1 that's about 3 years old and I'm having an issue in which the built-in mouse (Touchpad, or whatever it's called) will constantly quit operating the wheel that scrolls the screen and such up and down. When it's working, even something as mundane as accidentally bringing up the start screen (or whatever that pop-out menu on the right side of the screen is called) will cause it to quit. Sometimes restarting will get it to work again, but other times (like now) it won't seem to start working again no matter what I do, even shutting down and restarting it multiple times. I have no problems with it when using an exterior mouse, but for some reason it doesn't want to work with the Touchpad. All my drivers are up to date (just updated some last night), Dell diagnostics is no help.

This is really annoying. Can someone offer any advice?

Hello, i have a serious problem with my xps. After updating to windows 10, it is the third time that when i shut down the laptop it does not really shuts down and it is overheating. Today after the shut down i put it in my bag and after 5 hours i noticed that the bag was hot, i put out the xps and it was really really hot.

Screen was black and the only thing that i could hear was the cooler. I have disabled fast boot from windows 10 options, but the problem still remains.

Any ideas?

E6230 WiFi Replacement Card

I was wondering if the Intel 7260 wireless card would work on a Latitude E6230, and if so, better than the Ultimate-N 6300?.  I have seen people replacing them with the older Ultimate-N 6300's, but those have 3 antenna connections on them, where the new 7260's are only 2.  It is getting harder to find the 6300's and I can pick up a 7260 with or without Bluetooth for around $20.  I would rather put a new card in than a used or pulled card, plus the 7260 is cheaper than a new 6300 right now!

Thanks,

Jonathan

Does anyone know if a stylus, as used on a touch screen, will work on my inspiron 15 touchpad? It's impossible to draw a straight line with a rodent. And why does only my finger work and not, say, a pencil eraser? Thanks for your time!
