Lose trace of work and apps when battery dies on laptop

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I couldn't get to my charger in time to charge my laptop up before shutting down. When the battery died, I had to turn it on again. For some reason I went through the Dell logo then entering my password for my hard drive, which isn't suppose to happen. You would normally end up on login screen, as you would when you come out of sleep mode.

On my old Dell laptop inspiron n7110 when the battery died, I could resume when plugged in. I hope this isn't a issue with the motherboard or anything internal.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3542, Organization:  WORKGROUP, Edition: Windows 10 Home, Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4030U CPU @ 1.90GHz 1.90GHz, Installed RAM: 4.00 GB, System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64 based processor, No or pen touch availble for this display.

So my battery is fine, i ran a Dell System Detect Hardware test and the it passed, it said the battery is fine. And when i fully charge it, it works fine, it's only when i shut my laptop completely off and over night it drains to 0% and it requires me to plug in the charger to turn it on.

I have updated the latest BIOS, A08.

Please help me, thanks!

LAPTOP HAS TROUBLE TURNING ON

I bought a Dell Inspiron Series 13 7352 18 days ago. It has Windows 10 pre-installed and it is a 2-in-1. It was working fine for a week and then the trouble started. I would open my laptop and press the power button on the bottom right hand corner to turn the laptop on. After numerous attempts the laptop still didn't turn on. I know it was not out of charge because it had 80% last time I checked. I later tried turning it on and it worked. This has happened many times now for the past week. I try turning on my laptop and it won't turn on. Then I try later and it turns on. It's very frustrating. I ran a Dell diagnostics test and it found nothing wrong. I don't want to return the laptop plus I lost the receipt. Is there anything I can do myself to fix this issue?

INSPIRION M5110 FACTORY RESTORE ERROR CODE

INSPIRION M5110 FACTORY RESTORE ERROR CODE 0X40011002000010c

Option 1 (?): I am needing to do a factory restore according to repairman. Have been unable to undo malware/virus  (?) damage causing system to deny updates and constantly ask to be restarted to apply non-existent updates. Original restore disks lost. Also repairman was unable to get touchpad to respond or Bluetooth  enabled without expensive repair.

If I can do factory restore, I will use corded mouse unless Bluetooth responds.

I cannot locate this error in databases thus far.

OR Option (2)?: Will DELL provide their proprietary files downloaded if I format drive, install Win7 Pro from disk?

XPS short charger plug for Europe market

Hello! Recently received my new XPS 13 (2015), and it sadly didn't include the short charger plug I've seen in unboxing videos, e.g. (seen at ~2:10): (Please visit the site to view this video)

I'm guessing this is because I'm located in Europe. Is there any equivalent part for the Europe market? Would be great to have.

Windows 7 Install problem

Hello,

I'm in something of a bind, and would be grateful for any suggestions that may help. I recently upgraded to Windows 10, however after a month I found that I didn't like it so much as I thought I would. As such, I took the option to downgrade. The process unfortunately has corrupted my install of Windows 7, leaving me in a difficult situation.

I'm aware of a possible solution, creating a bootable install on a flash drive. This of course requires a Windows 7 product key. As my machine is quite old, it has rubbed off and is no longer legible. I'm stuck, what do I do?

Dell XPS 12 9Q33 Battery Charging Disabled Cannot update BIOS New battery, New Charge plug

The issue started off with the charge port being messed up, admittedly it was messed up for a while and I would just jiggle the plug and it would work. Push came to shove and I had the charge port replaced. After that the battery still would not charge. The BIOS and the Dell Battery Manager said the battery was shot. After a while I had the money and I had the battery replaced. I am using a Dell 45W adapter.

Now I cannot enable charging (Not that I ever disabled it). There is no option for it in the dell Battery window. Almost every option is grayed out. I am the sole system user and administrator.

I read else where on this forum that updating the BIOS might fix this issue but the battery has 0% charge even though the system says 100%. Every time I run the BIOS update it tells me to let the battery charge to 10% and then try again. I have tried running the BIOS update in safe mode. I have tried running it in just command line. I cannot get the battery to 10% since charging is disabled. I have included all the pictures I could if there is anymore information I need to provide please let me know. I have no idea what to do next. I guess I should mention the OS is win10. Please help!

Here is a link to the pictures I took of the system so you can see what it looks like and the options I am given. I included pictures of all the Dell Battery Monitor tabs, the BIOS, the Charger being used, etc.

I noticed on thing and im not sure if it is software issues but there are many problem with this laptop including this one (noise). I found one solution ditch windows and come to the awesome side of linux. Not sure if it is limited to only my Dell XPS 15 9530 piece of garbage but as soon as I get grub (linux boot loader) and later boot into linux the annoying sounds dell identifies with these terrible piece of garbage laptop those sounds go completely away the high frequency skretching, crunching, computer death dell sounds go away. But i also disable some dell garbage bios stuff. Dell you are a piece of garbage i hope we the people in pursuit of happiness destroy you reputation and by your own doing terminate your corporation love your angry frustrated dell induced suicidal thought (not me killing myself but this terrible laptop dell cleverly masquerades as a good laptop) riddled customer.

!Notice! - The laptop still makes subtle ever increasing annoying noise (almost like a metronome) but no where near what it was like before. Especially in the charge control area (but im not sure ¨i must be a dell engineer then¨ jk) by the power button.

P.S. I hope you get your act together you have continuous let me down 5 separate laptop times so i hope you theoretically buy a spaceship and warpspeed you're way into the sun.

All of a sudden my computer screen will start going haywire- windows change size randomly, opening and And closing, formatting and view size changes, my mouse icon disappears and is unresponsive. And weirdly, a bunch of dots start popping up on in a vertical line on the right side of the screen. I've chatting with support and he did something that seemed to work for awhile but now it's happening again and is worse.

Hi,

Alienware 17 is not recognizing the ac power adapter as 240w registers as 150w, ive tried resetting battery options.

Is there a setting in the bios limiting the true power supply connected.

I wanted to try a bios update but the battery is under 10% and wont let me flash. Is there a way to reset the board to reboot.

tried the bios name .exe /forceit in command prompt but won't flash.

Does anyone get any answers here?

Is there a way to manually eject the DVD player on my Inspiron 3521 laptop? I don't have a disk in there, but can't eject it with the button or by navigating to the drive and right clicking "eject."

The driver software is up to date. Any ideas?

How to create boot disk or system repair disk for Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium

$

Hi there,

After making changes in a partition of my Dell laptop, I was no longer able to start it normally, getting the error message "BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".

I have the Dell reinstallation disk for the Windows 7 operating system for this laptop, but it cannot boot from it.  I imagine I may be able to reinstall the operating system once I can reboot.  But how do I make a disk to boot from?

I have another Dell PC, a desktop, with the same Windows 7 Home Premium.  But when try to  use the Control Panel in Windows to "create a system repair disk" on that PC, I get an error message saying it cannot be done!

Does anyone have an idea for how I can make a boot disk or system repair disk?  (on a DVD or a USB flashdrive)

Thanks

Battery pack VS Solar panel

Hey guys,

For charging an laptop would it be better to just go with a battery pack that could hold about 11000 mAH (4 cycles) or go with one of the goal zero solar power + smaller battery pack combos?

Any suggestions from people who have gone through this same question?

Missing swiveling power adapter?

$

Hi,

I just bought an XPS 13, and didn't see that swiveling part that plugs into the power adapter. This part contains  the 2 prongs that plug into the outlet. It can swivel 90 degrees to allow the "brick" to be plugged in horizontally or  vertically. In many online videos reviewing this laptop, it  shows that this part  is included. I hope I'm being clear  enough for you guys to  understand.

Thanks,
