Dell Inspiron 5558 no touchpad settings

I went to a store to try out this laptop before I bought it, and when I went into the control panel, there were gesture options for the touchpad. On the version I bought, however, there are no options in the mouse properties. I checked the driver and my laptop seems to have come with a generic 2006 mouse driver. I checked dell support for drivers, but it only has a logitech unifying driver. Unfortunately, I can't find information about the touchpad included in this laptop anywhere. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me find information about this touch pad and/or point me towards a certain driver I should try to install.

Inspiron 7537 Touchpad Driver Issue

Hello everyone,

I have an Inspiron 7537 running Windows 10. This is less of a Windows 10 problem, and more of a hardware/driver issue I believe. I'd searched around on here for a bit for a solution, but nothing has really given me a permanent fix. Recently, my touchpad has started freezing intermittently. It will freeze for about 10 seconds, then it will work again for a while. It also prevents me from useing two finger scrolling. If I go to device manager I see both the Dell touchpad and HID compliant mouse installed.

I read on here that some people had success uninstalling the HID mouse, and when I do that and restart, the problem will be solved. However, the next time I power down the computer the problem starts all over again and the HID mouse reinstalls itself.

Can anyone tell me how to permanently uninstall whichever driver is causing the issue and prevent it from reinstalling in the future?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Inspiron 7537 shutdown in 5 seconds after startup...

Hello,

This problem happened after I installed the latest update from Microsoft about 2 days ago,

and it will also take more time go get into the desktop...(normally within 20 seconds, but more than 1 minute after I take a second start up)

First, the screen will show a DELL logo after I pressed the power button, and the keyboard light up,

but suddenly shutdown without any sign...

Is anyone having this issue as well ? how can I fix this problem ?  I was wondering whether this will damage my hard disk driver...or all I can do is just wait for the next update from Microsoft ?

Thank you.

So I downloaded Windows 10 and then I did a factory restart on my Dell, well now it keeps trying to boot. I always get a blue screen they says "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" and it says "Inaccessible boot device" I can't even get on my PC to do school work. I've tried everything, leaving it off for a day, letting try to reboot and nothing works. Please can you help me fix this?

My laptop does not restart or reboot

Hi;

When I restart my Latitude E4300 (after exiting Windows asking restart or Windows update requires restart) the power button flashes on/off intermittently as if it is trying to restart.

However, unplugging the charger and replugging it back in (and doing nothing else) fixes temporarily the problem!

As a clue, I updated from BIOS A14 to BIOS A24 via Windows and I am now having this trouble restarting the computer.

The only other thing was during the flash to BIOS A24 (from A14), it had trouble with a ME Firmware Image: ME Firmware Update Failed! (Error Code: 8725) Failed to receive last update status from the firmware.

The System ROM and keyboard ROM flashed okay.

I cannot solve this problem yet.

The suggestions I have found were take off battery and AC power and after that press On/Off button for 15-30 seconds and retry. That procedure does not solve the problem.

I thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards

Vertical sliding bar adjustment.. with mouse

Just got my Latitude e641o, running Windows 7 Professional 64.

Trying to make an adjustment in SilverFast 8.5 where you left click on a 'Box' on vertical bar, and slide it to a position you want.  Example, from 0 to -11.  Trouble is, the numbers do not keep up with the movement, they are quite delayed, making very hard to nail your object, in this example -11.

Ran a diagnostic here @ Dells web-sight, and all is well with computer.

There must be some adjustment or something that can be done to alleviate this problem.

Really like the computer, but I got it manly to run this program.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 Fan problem

Hello Dell,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 laptop with an intel core i7-3517U processor. I recently had an issue with my audio jack and since the laptop was in warranty, I used dell's support service, where I was told that they had replaced the entire motherboard. That's when my problems began.

First of all, my Windows 7 installation couldn't boot or be repaired, so I did a fresh install of Windows. Now I am having this problem, where the fan runs at an extremely high speed, even though the cpu is under a small load and at low temperature, making the laptop extremely noisy.

I have the installed the latest version of the BIOS - A12. Running the diagnostic tests doesn't show any problems with the fan, so it is more likely to be a problem with the BIOS. I followed this guide http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/428053/EN and also cleaned my vents, but that didn't change anything. I should also add the it is definitely not an overheating issue, as the laptop is noticeably not hot to the touch, and the cpu temperatures are all below 48 degrees C with a cpu usage of around 10%.

For the record I am running a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all updates and updated drivers. Core temperatures have been collected using HWMonitor. I haven't had a problem like this on my previous Windows 7 installation, but I have had similar experiences with my dual booted Ubuntu/ Arch Linux. Is this likely to be a hardware issue, or a software one, and if so are there any steps I can take to fix this?

Thank you in advance for any help with this question.

Dell Inspirion 7537 keeps running at full speed when shutdown // running /Windows 10

When I set my laptop Dell Inspirion 7537 to sleep or even shutdown it the standart way, it will drain the battery, because the fan will start spinning and laptop is under 80%+ load. Only pressing the power button for few second restarts it.

This started happening about a 10days ago after my clean install of Windows 10.

Even when I set my laptop to power off at the evening (it becomes quiet) it at some point starts to spin and never shuts off(stays under load) and then at morning I find it completely drained.
(If I leave my laptop in power supply charging, I will find it in the morning running, hot, fan spinning and screen black.)

So whenewer it shuts down. It will set my laptop into weird circle when it only keeps running at full speed -_- I cant controll it and screen is black

I have heard these reasons of this: GPU drivers, bad drivers at general, and processes that increase CPU load and runns even in sleep. - I dont know which processes are it yet. And Windows 10 ofc.

For some reason, every time I shutdown my PC, it doesn't shutdown. My PC's screen is off, but I can still hear a fan inside my PC running and a hissing noise inside. What should i do? I have to manually shutdown my PC by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

Acquiring Laptop Ethernet, wi-fi, USB Drivers, Installing Them from a DVD

Sorry for my ignorance, but I am 74 years old but still want to learn. I have a Dell XPS 15Z laptop  on which I did a fresh install (using installation disk from ? River website) of Windows 7. The install did not install ethernet, wi-fi, or USB drivers. The only way that I know that I could install these drivers with no active USB ports or internet connection would be from the DVD drive.

I have been to Dell's driver site for the XPS 15Z, but didn't know what I was doing  to download the drivers to a DVD and then install them on the laptop. Do you just select one ethernet driver, one wi-fi driver, (I don't see the USB drivers...where would they be?)

Do you take your driver download list from the Dell site and burn them all at the same time to a DVD (I use Imgburn)? And then how do you install them on the XPS 15Z from the DVD?

Thanks to anyone who can help a senior with this driver installation problem. I am about to panic.

Inspiron 15 5000 Series running slow

I bought this computer for my daughter about 3 weeks ago and I asked her yesterday how it was working. She said it seems to be running really slow. It has an Intel Core 3 and 6 gigs of memory. Would it help to reload it? It came with a Windows 8.1 disk but I don't know if she wants to use Windows 8. I bought this for her because I thought it would be much faster than her 5 year old Dell laptop that she almost stopped using because it barely worked, but this one is only somewhat better.

faulty touchpad/keyboard on dell m5030

ok, to begin, im not a techy person, so if you can help, could you use words that a person who doesnt work in the computer industry would understand! lol.
a few years back i bought a brand new dell m5030 laptop, the first, and as a result of my experience, only new laptop i ever bought. a month after the one year warranty was up, it died, the dreaded 7 beeps of death, and nothing i could do would make it work. contacting the retailer got 'its over a year old, tough' or words to that effect. contacting dell got 'its out of warranty-tough' or thereabouts. now only later did i learn that this wasnt entirely correct and i should have made a fuss and made them listen, but as pretty much anyone else who bought a 5030 had the same issue i recconed that i had no chance of getting heard. so, after posting here and never hearing back from the guy who said he would contact me from dell, i gave up.
fast forward to today, 3 years later. its raining so i decide to have a go at the laptop thats been sat on my desk for 3 years, if only so i could save the photos that were on it. . following many sessions on youtube watching people 'reflow' the solder on their motherboards, i stripped it, did the neccesary and cautiosly re assembled it. press the button, and BINGO! it fired up, windows 7 and all. i checked the pictures, all still there and so figured i would put it together again, i hadnt screwed the casings up or popped the keyboard back in. but it worked, i could log in, the mouse scrolled and all the buttons worked. so i screw the back on, pop the battery back in and click the keyboard in. all the connections were checked and connected ok. but now, although it starts up, the touchpad just doesnt work, and a fair few of the keys on the board arent working, sometimes needing a few taps to make them work, it wont scroll and i cant move the cursor, neither of the buttons work either. it was fine before, so i stripped it and checked everything again, all fine, try again, nothing.
any ideas what went wrong and if its fixable? this thing has been a dud pretty much since i bought it. 13 months of use from new before a serious failure meaning i couldnt use it, and now its only working due to my own actions following the complete disinterst from dell. are they all this bad or have i just bought one with everyone elses faults installed?
