Hi!
i want to install Windows 10 on my Precision M4400. I have all drivers exept for the USH Controlvault.
On the page of the manufacturer of the Security Software: https://www.wave.com/support/installation-or-upgrade-instructions it says that the Firmware 23.7.303.0 which is newer than the lastest in the Dell downloadcenter can be installed on M4400. In the M4400 works a Broadcom BCM5880 cecurity processor. For this device the latest firmware in Dell downloadcenter is 30.7.029.0, A00
Is it possible to install this Firmware on my M4400 tho get full Windows 10 support?
Thank you for help!
Hi
I have a INSPIRO 15R 5537 and wish to understand how to change the Bios ( A08 ) because I need to
dual boot Windows 10 & 8.1 in order to help with computer lessons at the local U3A.
Some of the participants are still using Windows XP, 7, 8,8.1 and from now on some will have Windows 10.
I can get to a certain point (Partition selection ) and then get a message 'Cannot instal on a GPT Partition.
I have tried to change the Bios but a lot of the options are' greyed out ' so I need some help explaining how to change the Bios.
I hope someone can help me.

I've had my Dell XPS 9530 for about a year and a half. Tonight I attempted to go from BIOS version A07 to the new A09 released a few days ago. (http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03220277M/1/9530A09.EXE ) Ran the Windows based bios update, All seemed normal until the laptop went to restart, went to a black screen, fans on full blast, stayed this way for a long time. Finally I tried to force a power off by holding down the power button. No dice. Ended up pulling the battery. Now unit won't power on at all.
Found out about holding down the END key and putting the power cord in. Extracted the hdr and rom files from the dell A09 bios and put them on a freshly FAT formatted 1GB usb drive. the light on the flash drive comes on for about 10 seconds every 30 seconds when entering recovery mode with the END key - but all I get is the power light blinking on the laptop, and the fans on full blast. Left it like this for 20 mins - nothing.....
I think it's an American Megatrends / AMI BIOS....
what am I doing wrong?
I have LOVED this laptop - NO issues until now. Warranty ended in April. Can't believe a dell recommended update would do this. ANY help would be GREAT. Thank you all.
I was not able to get any help on the Alienware forum for this issue. I have already searched all the forums and found no resolution.
My Alienware M18 R2 laptop is about 2 years old, but the LCD went out some time ago. I got around it by using an external monitor. However, I started to get 8 beeps on start-up that prevented booting to Windows; I just get a black screen. I phoned tech support for a repair estimate and they had me try starting by holding down the function key, and when that didn't work, the D key.
The tech concluded that the LCD is bad, said that they have no spare parts to repair it, but I might find an LCD kit on EBay and have it repaired locally. I asked why Dell can't buy them from EBay and he said Dell sold all their LCD kits, and that's how they ended up on EBay. This leads me to believe that the kits are as faulty as the screen I already have, so I'm not looking to replace it.
A complete power-down (remove CMOS battery, etc...) did not help.
At this point, I'll settle for a work-around for the 8 beeps, so that I can continue to use the external monitor. If I try several dozen times I might be able to get it running, but then what?
hello all,
i have witnessed such an issue on many dell laptops that, with age, the charger which was originally shipped with the dell laptop does not charges the laptop. even though it is able to supply power, but there is no charging at all. the laptop (bios) does not recognizes the charger as the original one. however, the laptop (charger) works very well with another dell charger (laptop) with successful charging.
i do not understand where the issue lies? in the charger, or in the laptop SMPS.
please provide an elaborate explanation, if possible.
thank you.
I have a Dell Inspiron 17R-5721, approximately two years old. I was using it two days ago and it just turned off with no low-battery warning. Now it won't turn on. When I plug it in there is no indicator light that there is power or that battery is charging. Have had no previous problems with computer although it is refurbished. Hoping someone can help because I really need to get this working and don't want to spend $100 on diagnostics only for someone to tell me it will cost $200 more to fix. thanks! Ps It uses windows 7 if that matters.
I want to download the Windows 10 drivers for my laptop. I want to store them as I intend doing a full Windows 10 install (not an upgrade)
But the website says: "This file will automatically self-install after downloading."
How do I simply save the drivers to a hard disk so that they are available when I install Windows 10?
Thanks
I have about 2 months old Dell Inspiron 13 with Windows 8; it has stopped battery charging. Battery sign shows "battery temporarily disabled". During the start up black screen appears and says "This battery charging is temporarily disabled. Press F2 entering BIOS Setup Menu, Battery Status for details".
I have tried different solutions, AC adopter works perfectly
Before returning my laptop, need to get assistance if some one can help me to solve the problem.
Thanks
I am doing a Diagnostic before I give my laptop for servicing at the dell service center. For which when I run a complete Diagnostic scan online it results in a Blue screen error.

I have dell inpiron 11 3000 2 in 1 laptop, I recently updated my OS to windows 10. When I turn it to tablet mode the on screen keyboard gets disabled automatically and also after windows 10 upgrade the Dell sound manager settings got disabled. Can anybody advise how I can access onscreen keyboard on tablet mode and enable all sound settings ?
Hi,
I have M3800 touch screen (QHD with SSD) model. I recently update the system to Windows 10 (frm Windows 7) and after that I found that my touch screen is not working.
I found that the touch screen is not recognized, its shows as "No pen or Touch Input is available for this Display". I also failed to find any HID complaint driver for the Touch screen.
I have tried reinstalling the Windows 10, and I have tried reinstalling all the drivers for windows 10, that are available in Dell support and driver page.
I have also turned off "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option for each USB hubs in device manager, so that the system does not turn off the USB responsible for Touch screen.
but my issue is still unresolved, Its driving me mad and I will be great full if anybody can post a suggestion to fix the problem.
thanks,
Here I am using the Windows Backup and Restore and the backup would be stored on an External Hardisk.
So I select the Windows backup and select the path where the backup is to be done.
Next I select all the drives and the process starts
Whereas in the dell backup i don't have any idea of how the software works and also with the premium version difference will it do the complete backup or not
I have done the Diagnostic using the Online tool,Support Assist in order to find out issues.
But still some say that the Online diagnostic tool is not worth for diagnosing the problem.(This is from a dell techincal guy). Now whose advice do I follow. The online support says its usefull whereas other say it's not.I don't know whether its for Money that they are saying I should go for the Diagnostic provided and waste a day's time or something else.
I have the Windows updates installed as normal, the Microsoft Security Essentials is updated as normal still it shows this copy of Windows is not genuine.
With the Operating System CD the problem is that It might require a Key which is present on the Microsoft COA which is missing so how can I make it genuine as it used to be

I got my laptop fixed 2 days ago for a new screen and then a new hardrive so its like a brand new laptop....its worked fine until this morning out of nowhere when I push the power button it make a bleeping noise and the screen stays black..I counted 7 beeps but why is this happening after I got it fixed?

I am coming here for any support the community/liasons can offer as I am really disappointed and upset.
On Friday (31/7) I spoke with a sales agent regarding a Price Match as I had found my dream Alienware for a good price on one of the approved retailers. He verified, confirmed with his manager, discussed specs with me in case I wanted to add something and then created a quote for me that was sent to my email. (I have the log with all this discussion and details of the agent and the quote).
I right away accessed the quote and placed the order. In my excitement I used my international AMEX (as I get points on it) not thinking it might be an issue. Alas it was and on Monday I saw that the order was cancelled (mind you no communication/call/email from Dell... only my obsessive checking showed me that it was cancelled).
I called to ask why, the first person (customer service) didnt know and they directed me to order management. He asked right away if I had used an international card, I confirmed and he asked me to place the order again using a US card).
I did and was happy to see that on Tuesday the order had moved to 'in production'.
My hopes were dashed when my obssessive checking showed me that now on Wednesday the order has been marked cancelled again. I called and after going through 5-6 agents (customer service, then order management, then finance, then customer care and lastly sales) and spending 2-3 hours I have an answer.
Apparently (and according to the sales supervisor I spoke to) the offer I got was too low and as they are not allowed to go below 1400 USD + tax (even though I have it in black and white in the received quote) it cannot be honored!!!! He insisted that the discount department (not sure if thats what he said) is the one cancelling it and that even if I was to re-put the order once more, it would be cancelled again!!!
Since when is an actual quoted offer from a Dell agent and with supervisor approval deemed 'too low'. SInce when is the price match guarantee only a guarantee if its a convenient offer?
I really trust Dell and that is why I came to Dell to place the order (and get a very nice and helpful agent his commission) instead of buying from the retailer and I am not basically screwed. The retailer has gone out of stock on the item (makes sense with such an offer) and I am here with no order, no laptop and just miserable.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions/advice/intervention.
Hello evrybody,
I'm willing to buy the aforementioned product, XPS 13 (2015) Developer Edition, before putting the final word onto my choice had some questions.
Firsts first, I will dualboot the Ubuntu OS with Windows (possibly 10 since I've heard most of win8 issues have been overcome), from Microft website I always see the "free upgrade" option, but I will need, most certainly, a brand new license which I couldn't find a way to buy. Is there anything I need to know about that?
Then, I see the laptop has been verified for Win10 full functionality, but I've also read people complaining a few issues with drivers, mostly touchpad, are they addressed today? Are there any known issues with drivers on Win10 (hotkeys, audio..)?
How's the HD partitioned? Will I have problem with dual booting, boot loaders and such? I'm not much familiar with modern GPT patitioning, EFI & Co., anything I can read or need to know on topic?
Is the autonomy significantly affected by the upgrade?
Thanks in advance to everyone who will help me to take the leap and buy.
PS. I assume there is a way (recovery media or similar) to fully restore the laptop in case of issues. But does it work if partitioning has been deeply modified?
