Now the fps have gone down drastically. Its very slaggish and it has stopped adapting to different lighting conditions. Outdoors its too bright and indoors too dark. I don't know if it has anything to do with this game I installed that I played using my webcam. Please help anyone.

Windows 10 and XPS 15Z lap top

I have a 64 bit XPS 15Z laptop that I bought about 3 years ago.  Dell says that it has not been tested for upgrade to Windows 10.

Has anyone tried to upgrade this machine to a Windows 10?  How did it go?

Thanks;

After I installed Windows 10, I can't disable the touchpad on my Inspiron N5030 laptop. Please help!!

This past weekend I did a full clean Windows 10 install on my Inspiron laptop. However after the install, I went to Dell Support website to download the Touchpad Driver for my N5030, but Windows 10 told me this driver software is not supported by the OS.

I also tried going to "Mouse & Touchpad Setting" and clicked on "Additional mouse options". However, in the "Mouse Properties" box, I can't find "Touchpad" or "Clickpad" tab, so there's no way for me to turn on/off my touchpad.

I know my laptop is a bit too old for Windows 10, but I still have a gut feeling that this touchpad should be able to be set somewhere!

Thank you very much in advance for you help!!!

I purchased my Dell 5537 in Dec 2013 with Windows 8.1 Standard.  Is the Windows product key in Bios.  If so would it still be in bios if Windows Pro has been installed.  Can I download Installation Media that is available at Microsoft and reinstall the Windows I started with, automatically getting the key from bios or will I need to purchase a new license?

Inspiron 17 (7737, mid 2013) Bios Flash (upgrade) Failure

Hello all,

except for  BIOS (Version A4), my system is up to date with latest drivers and Windows Updates installed.

The support page, using Dell System Detect, recommends the latest version (A13). Reading that a few posters succeeded in migrating to Windows 10 after updating their BIOS to this version, I proceeded to do the same.

So I saved 7737a13.exe to my laptop and followed the installation instructions to a T.

1st method:  running the utility from a Windows environment. Here's a description of what happened:

1. windows extractor opens cmd.exe which shows the following:

Intel ME firmware version is the same with image, skip ...

Perform BIOS upgrading ...

2. Phoenix SCT Flash for Windows opens and shows the following:

Initialize Flash Module.

Read current BIOS.

but then, program stops and WinFlash64.exe has stopped working pops up.

2nd Method: I ran the exec from DOS environment. There was no need to add (space) + /forceit after exe. DOS succeeded in extracting the utility and this time, the following message appeared (from memory so wording might not be exact):

This driver version is too old. Please try installing a more recent version.

After rebooting to Windows, System still shows Version A4 installed.

The weird thing is that version A13 was last updated on the 31st of July and it's definitely more recent than the Factory Reset version A4 my system is currently running. Is there anyway to force install this version or make Windows recognize that A13 is indeed more recent?

I'm in a bit of a bind because I'd really like to upgrade to Windows 10 but from what I've read, a great number of users were only able to successfully do so after upgrading their BIOS to A13.

Any help or suggestion would be very much appreciated [ip]

Windows 10 Pro is causing driver and startup problems in Dell 7720

Hello Everyone.

This is one long query. And I believe other people are facing similar problem too. I hope I get my answers.

I just upgraded from Windows 8.1 Professional to Windows 10 Professional. I have installed each and every update from Windows Update as well as Dell Updates.

And I've been facing some issues from day one.

Whenever I restart my windows, The Windows Explorer crashes and restarts when I try to open the Notifications, Wi-fi Networking, Battery or Start Menu. (I'm not taking about Internet Explorer. I'm talking about the Windows Explorer the one with Start Menu and taskbar and the whole GUI) It crashes, everything closes, and then the explorer rebuilds itself and things get back to normal. But again, it happens. So I keep opening the start menu and let it crash and restart about 4-5 times until it gets stable. Then it works fine afterwards.

At first i thought it was because I was running RapidStart and RapidStorage technology (using my 32GB SSD as caching drive). So I disabled the cache, set the SSD to offline and uninstalled both RapidStart and RapidStorage. They were not helping out anyway because even with caching enabled, the Windows 10 startup was far slower than Windows 8.1 without SSD caching.

But disabling the SSD didn't help at all. Explorer still crashed. Nothing Changed. So I enabled the SSD again, reinstalled those programs back and nothing changed.

The applications of SSD programs (Intel Rapid Start and Intel Rapid Storage) showed that everything is fine, everything is enabled and the booting Hard Disk is being accelerated. Its just that there is no practical benefit.

Another issue is when copying files from one Hard Disk to another Hard Disk (not different drives within same HDD, I'm talking about two separate physical Hard Disk Drives - one accelerated by SSD and one not). The copying speed in Windows 8.1 was around 200-300 MB/sec for small files up to 1GB and 80-90 MB/sec for larger ones.

But in Windows 10, they're reduced to 60-70 MB/sec initially, and then the speed drops down to mere 18-19 MB/sec. It's as if the HDD is constantly under too much load even with the SSD caching enabled.

Only thing that SSD caching does in Windows 10 is speed up opening of application after I've opened them once. For example, once I open the Photoshop and close it, it will open much faster next time.

But Windows Booting, Windows Startup, Logging in... they all take so much time as if i'm using a decade old 4500rpm Hard Disk. In Windows 8.1 it was much faster (just below a minute without the SSD, and with the SSD enabled, windows started up within seconds).

So I tried uninstalling the SSD Drivers (RapidStart and RapidStorage). RapidStart was uninstalled fine, but I couldn't uninstall Rapid Storage. It gave me the error: There is a pending reboot for this product.

I tried rebooting and uninstalling but it didn't work. I tried disabling SSD and reset to available, even cleaned the SSD using Diskpart, but still couldn't uninstall it. So I used RevoUninstaller. It removed all the files and registry items manually.

Then, I download the latest drivers from Intel Download Center for Windows 10 (not from Dell, they don't have new SATA drivers for Windows 10 yet), but i cannot install them now. I open the setup file and it gives same error: There is a pending reboot for this product.

Please help me out. My laptop has gotten too slow after Windows 10 upgrade.

Specifications for my laptop:

Intel 3rd Gen i7 CPU | 8GB DDR3 RAM | nVidia 650M GT (3D stereoscopic 120Hz display), 2GB GDD5 | 32GB mSATA caching SSD + 1TB HDD (accelerated) + 1TB HDD

Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 - Hangs on Sleep

Hi All,

My computer is hanging when it tries to enter sleep mode. The screen will turn off but the computer continues to run indefinitely. I have tried debugging it myself but it has exceeded my abilities.

The only way i can get out of this freeze mode - is by forcing power off (pressing without releasing the power button)

I have tried updating all the drivers to latest version + chipset + Bios.

I have tried rolling back all drivers and disabling different hardware to try and analyze the root cause but could not solve this issue.

I was suggested (and also believe) that Formating my OS will solve this issue - which will probably do so, but in my case it is not an option.

It happened on Windows 7 and still persists on Win10

Here is my powercfg -a (and attached is the powercfg /energy - report)

C:\>powercfg -a
