Dell XPS L502x Instant launcher button help

Hi everyone,

I recently reformatted my Laptop to Windows 10 and realized I had extreme trouble finding the drivers for the instant launcher button. Is it part of the Wavesmaxxaudio3 drivers or is there a separate driver I can try installing for just the instant launcher?

Thanks for your time.

Latitude E5450 A06 / A07 detects no bootable devices in UEFI mode

We got a demo unit of this model and everything was great, flicked on UEFI + Secure Boot, setup TPM, and had a fully automated, BitLocker'd OSD process with our SCCM 2012 R2 environment deploying Windows 8.1.

I find today that the systems we actually got shipped (oh, just 1000+) do not find any bootable devices in UEFI + Secure Boot mode on A06 (what they shipped to us with), but at least they can UEFI + Legacy Boot to the hard disk and NIC w/ PXE. I figured I try the A07 update - but now this system won't detect any bootable devices in UEFI mode, with or without Secure Boot - only legacy mode detects any bootable devices.

What the actual heck?

Broken laptop charger - Dell Inspiron 15 5547

Hi, sorry for the really basic question  -

I bought my laptop less than a year ago (so still under warranty) and the charger just broke. Is this covered under the normal warranty? Could someone direct me to where I should be looking to replace the charger?

Thank you!

How can I make complaint for my Dell laptop in Headquarters?

I bought Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series Ultrabook last year in June 2014 with 2 years of extended warranty.

In few months I realized that battery has some issue. Fully charged laptop battery drains within 1 hour. I called many times to customer care. Each time they ran many tests and made many settings. Each calls lasts for 2 -3 hours but issue never fixed. Instead of replacing battery, they said these settings will fix the issue which didn't happen. Today I make a call again for same battery issue. Technician told me that he will send me a new battery as this is a battery issue. But after half an hour I receive an email saying Battery is not in warranty. This is absurd. I called in for same issue so many time earlier this year and they should have replaced laptop battery before warranty was over.
Instead they wasted my time. Now they are saying its not in warranty. I feel this is a deliberate action to waste customer time and not to replace defective product. Please help.

Inspiron-11 3147 Touchpad Driver Won't Install

Touchpad works, but I can't get the Dell Touchpad Driver (3147_Input_Driver_36TN6_WN_18.1.2.9_A01) to install.  It runs and reports successful installation, but the driver doesn't show up in Device Manager or Windows Mobility Center that opens with Dell Quickset.   Consequently, only the keyboard locks in tablet mode, and I can't get the touchpad to disable when a mouse is detected or disable it when typing.  I've seen many posts on touchpad issues with this laptop but have not found any solutions that work for me.  Please let me know if you have encountered and conquered this issue.

Can't Reinstall Windows 8 On A Replacement Hard Drive.

Hi,

I've recently received a new hard drive from Dell Support along with a windows 8 installation disk.

However, I can't install Windows because it is asking for the Product Key! As you know Windows 8 keys are built into the BIOS of the Motherboard and not a sticker on the Laptop anymore.

So, How to I go about installing Windows on my replacement Hard Drive? I was expecting Windows to auto fill in the CD key but it doesn't. I cant see an obvious way to skip this part like you could with W7?

Laptop is a Dell Inspirion 15 3531 (It's Ironic that Dell Sent Me A Windows Installation DVD For A Laptop That Doesn't Have A CD/DVD Drive)

Anyway, the CD/DVD issue was easy enough to over come by following a guide on the Windows EightForums and making a Bootable USB/Flash Drive then transferring the CD/DVD over to the Flash Drive. But I'm having no joy and by that I mean the USB/Flash Drive is working fine, I just can't get passed the "Enter the Product key to activate Windows"

I've tried with and without secure boot, I've tried in UEFI and legacy mode. I've even tried contacting Dell Support via email who just went on about how the windows product key is "Injected" into the motherboard and that I should insert the CD/DVD that they supplied me... Talk about banging your head against a brick wall. Well I guess they have a script to follow and they wont deviate from it.

So I'm at a loss, I'm guessing I'm missing something to do with the BIOS... Any ideas anyone?

Steve.

Failing hard drive?

Hello! A few months ago my laptop ( dell, inspiron 3521) ran into a few hardrive errors. So we replaced with a brand new £60 sandisk one. However, the laptop continued having problems on login (either freezing when putting in password, or freezing at the start screen). I have run diagnostics and received error code 2000-0142. Upon research, this would indicate a failing hardrive, however this ones brand new.. So I questioned a little bit. Upon the error being found the laptop starts to play a little tune of just 3 notes, that can only be described on this as ___________-----------------*******************------------------_____________ I've seen a few YouTube videos on viruses, and this feature was common in quite of few of them. I don't want to buy another new hard drive or a completely new laptop. I just want some answers. Please help :(

network adapter missing windows 10 upgrade - XPS 13 L322X (early 2013)

I'm running 8.1 and successfully upgraded to 10 last night. Unfortunately, my network adaptor has disappeared and I have no available WIFI connections. The only option is to connect via ethanet which unfortunately my XPS 13 cannot do. Downloaded and installed the latest W10 Intel driver for the Centrino adapter but no succes.

Anyone experiencing the same issues ?

Best regards.

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series Can't Recognize Left Clicks

Approx half the time I am trying to click on something (using the left click side of the touch pad), the computer does a right click action. I have to click sometimes 3 or 4 times to get it to do something and it's so tedious. Switching between tabs and trying to highlight information is painful and long, making me have to use the touchscreen option more often than I would like. Is there any way to correct this? I've only had this computer for 12 days and so far little things like this have really made it difficult to say I'm happy with this purchase.

XPS 15z Cypress Trackpad Drivers on Windows 10

Hi all,

even though my Dell XPS 15z is not officially tested for Windows 10 and probably never will be tested, I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday.

Everything seems pretty fine, except for the (always horrible) Cypress Touchpad.
This is what happened:

1. After the Upgrade process finished, I found that Windows installed Synaptics Touchpad drivers.
2. My trackpad worked, except for no multi-touch gestures.
3. I uninstalled all drivers, cleaned files + registry via CCleaner and rebooted whenever needed
4. I installed the drivers I pulled from this post: en.community.dell.com/.../19579806
5. I checked if two-finger-scrolling was enabled in the driver configuration utility, checked and unchecked the boxes several times
6. I tried all kinds of other bugfixes for the infamous Cypress Trackpad driver under Windows 8 and so on

All in all, nothing helped - apart from the basic functionalities which the generic driver also provides, I have absolutely no gestures support. The driver simply does not seem to work at all, despite running in the background.

There seem to be similar problems with Synaptics drivers, only that there seem to be fixes for it.

I have absolutely no hope that Dell will release a halfway decent driver for this piece of junk they call a trackpad, but maybe other users have an idea on how to fix this issue.

Greetings

Chris

P.S.: I don't have to mention, that the lacking support and usability of this trackpad is the main reason that's keeping me from buying any Dell product anytime soon. This is the kind of stuff, that makes people buy MacBooks.

XPS 13 9443 Boot from USB

Hi, I have a XPS 13 9343 model (2015) and am very frustrated with the BIOS setting about booting from USB sticks. I try to run Windows 10  (technical preview) from a Sandisk Extreme 64G created with WinToUSB. Most of the time the machine hangs at the Dell splash screen at boot, regardless of whether F2 or F12 is pressed. There is no movement until the USB is pulled out. Occasionally it works and allows me to choose disks to boot from when F12 is pressed.

I have no idea when it will work and it is very frustrating. I tried legacy boot enabled or disabled but it seems making no difference. Anyone knows the trick?

Are these batteries original?

Hi guys. I bought two Dell batteries for my Dell Inspiron 640m (it is a very old model, year 2006).

The original battery is long dead. I decided to buy 2 new batteries. After i received the batteries, they are cannot be charged. One is no respond or no status at all on the software battery status. And another 1 is blinking 3 times orange and 1 time green on the battery led status, it shows panasonic dell something. They couldn't be faulty right? It is new.

By the way, i really hope to know are these battery original or fake.

The battery serial is JP-0CC154-47847-75F-J0W4 REV A 01

another one is JP-0CC154-47847-75F-J0WD REV A 01

can someone kindly check it for me please. Thank you so much.

Inspiron 3520 fan always on and hot

This is a 2-year-old Inspiron 3520.  The fan runs all the time, often in high mode which is quite noisy, and the left side of the unit gets very hot, to the point I cannot use it on my lap or it will burn my leg.  Does anyone know any tweaks to help with this? Sorry if this has been asked before, I did do a search and got no results....  Thanks in advance for any help!

Latitude E6510 - How do I manually access the Dell System Recovery partition?

Hello All,

My Dell Latitude E6510 came with OEM Win 7 Pro x64 installed. I am trying to conduct a system restore to the factory setting.

I have tried accessing the Advanced Boot Options to no avail and pressing F12 during the boot up process does not provide me with the option to repair and select the recovery partition as if it is invisible. If I do use Computer Management > Storage I do see the hidden partition or if I do Diskpart it is listed.

How do I make the BIOS or system recognize it to boot up from the Recovery partition? Thanks in advance.
