Hi,
This issue has been around since 2011, when XPS 15 L502x systems came with 525M and 540M graphics cards. For any game, the GPU will fail and create an audio loop, hard freeze and lock up the system. NO IT IS NOT DUE TO OVER HEATING!!!
The prevailing fix is to underclock the card and play with a poor performance. It's been five years and NVIDIA nor DELL has provided any permanent FIX. I'm here again asking for your help as both the companies has left us alone.
So far, this is what I have done:
- Updated to the latest drivers (NVIDIA, RealTek, Windows and everything)
- Fresh Installation of Windows 7 (Now, Home Premium)
- Re-installed, repaired all the games. (Battlefield 3, GTA IV, COD MW3, Battlefield 4)
- Took it to the service center and replaced heat sink.
- Bought a laptop cooler (Deepcool N400)
- Tried different NVIDIA driver versions including the DELL version.
Result: GAMES STILL CRASH AND FREEZE WITH AN AUDIO LOOP
Temporary Fix:
- Install Nvidia System Tools or MSI Afterburner and Underclock the GPU.
Result: GAMES WORK FINE FOR SOMETIME.
Please guys, I am really desperate and my patience is almost gone. Help me find a fix.
