Hey,

i have a Dell Latitude E6540 Notebook (mid. 2013). It has a 500GB Hybrid HDD from Seagate and its Run with Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Legacy.

The Bios Version is the newest A15. The System works great but the HDD is a little bit to slow for me.

I would like to replace the Seagate Hard Disk with a Samsung EVO 850 ( 250GB  SSD).
After Hardware Replacement i set the Bios back to the Default Settings. 

BIOS: 
Default Settings
SATA Mode : RaidOn
UEFI Bootloader
Legacy Option Disabled
SSD in Bootorder on Place one.

The Setup I start with the Original Dell Win8.1 Pro DVD. (I tested serveral of them)
The Windows installation formats and installed everything properly. 

But, from the first restart after the Install, i have Problems. It results in the following Error message:

I tired each of the following F6 drivers for the Storage Controller:

• IRST 12.8 - Intel
• IRST 13.1 - Dell (Newest)
• IRST 13.6 - Intel
• IRST 14.0 - Intel (Newest)

But i have always the same error.

Now I have changed the SATA - Mode from RaidOn to AHCI.
This ends in the following error Message:

In Summary, i have tested the following (Each Test with all IRST Drivers):

Tests

The Problem confused me a bit because I run the ePSA Diagnose from Dell and all Tests are passed without errors  (incl. Deep Test).
If I Start from a boot DVD like Hirens Boot DVD I can read the Partition Table and all works great. I can Read / Write with 350 MB/s on the SSD without Errors.

But i cannot boot from it. If I install Ubuntu 14 I get from Grub a I/O Error and cannot Start Linux.
I have tested 4 identical new SSDs. All with the Same Error.

In another topic, the compatibility is confirmed with a verified response. ( Here )

I hope someone here has an idea to fix it.

Hi two questions

1)
I'm thinking about use optical disc bay for a second hdd drive and i didn't find a dell hdd-caddy

It is supposed to be used for a Samsung SSD, or maybe I clone the harddrive and put the original HDD in the disc-caddy 

Is it ok to buy one from a third-party supplier?? And if so, is there a quality difference?

I have found two that delivers to Sweden. Are they OK?

Is there something one should think about when cloning a multiple operatingsystem. I have XP and Win 7 both 32-bit on C: and W: and need to keep it that way for some old programs

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS L502x, which I bought late 2012. Recently the hard drive became corrupt so I've replaced it and installed Windows 7 on the new hard drive. I've just downloaded and ran the software to detect which drivers I need to install and have downloaded and installed all of them with the exception of the nvidia graphics driver which says I need to install an Intel driver first. I've searched the Dell site but I can't find the Intel driver I need.

Please can you point me to the Intel driver that I need to install?

Hi, I got my new inspiron 15 5545 two days ago (21/7/15) and I had no problems using it then, the backlight of the keyboard was on and working well, but this evening I noticed that it was no longer coming on, it might have been off for a longer period without me noticing, I've opened the mobility center and it says that it's on there also I can't check the "enable ambient light sensor control" box, I'll really appreciate it if this could be fixed

A month ago I bought a new Dell laptop Latitude 3540 from my local online Dell shop and I'm really unhappy with the touch pad. Imagine that you have got a new car which is hard to drive because of a *** steering wheel! So it is my new laptop: whenever I have to type a text I have difficulties when positioning the  cursor and preventing it against jumping around , my text keeps being selected and deleted against my will and unrequested tabs are opening and closing in my browser when I scroll down or type something in the search. I already installed TouchFreeze-1.1.0 and made some changes in Control Panel Settings for Dell Touchpad. It helped but not as well as I'd like to. It still isn't as comfortable as my old HP laptop (dead in an accident).  I wish for Dell company to correct this irritating mistake of theirs in the future. Right now, I'm disappointed   :/

I recently got an MX200 500 GB SSD from Crucial. Everything was working fine before except it had windows 8 home premium and it was running on a 5400 rpm HDD. I'm trying to install Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. However now that I'm trying to load the disk, it seems to freeze on the windows splash screen and can't get past that. I still have the old working HDD and everything works fine with it. I ran full diagnostics and everything passed. Any ideas what I can do or what it can be?

Hello, 

Touch pad on Dell 7746 is too sensitive for me, I cannot comfortably type on keyboard. Does anybody know how to disable it?

Hi.

I have this router TL-WR1043ND, when I connect my laptop from my work using my wireless, after 5 minutes or 10 minutes more or less I get this message "Limited Connection". I connect other laptop, cellphone, or device and I don’t get any error. In order to fix this temporally I restart my NIC or I use the fixing option from Microsoft, it says there was a problem with the DNS. After that I can surf for others 5 or 10 minutes and the problem returns. 

I have tried lots of tutorials from internet and youtube but I still have the issue. And this only happens with this laptop, in other wireless network I don’t get this issue, it only happens between my laptop and my own router. I have also tried to change the channel in the router, SID and other options but I can’t fix it. Any help would be greeting

I seem to frequently somehow inadvertently shut down my computer.  It seems to happen when my right hand is somewhere over by the bottom right corner of the laptop.  Help, I don't want to keep doing this.

Hi, a few weeks ago I was using my Inspiron 11 2 in 1 with no problems. Desktop and Start Screen as well as apps. Shut it down and went on vacation. When I came back and started it back up, I tried to open apps and the app would not open I have tried all apps and nothing will open. any suggestions?

For some reason after my computers update, my  touchpad decided to stop working.  The right click mode no longer works same thing with the right side scroll option.  This is extremely fustrating (especially since I can no longer right click to correct mis-spelled words.  Makes doing college papers a really big pain in the <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> now.   i really need the right click and scroll back. I cant even click to select a block of texts either.  sigh......  please help.

I have uninstalled the touchpad and reinstalled and still the same results. I have booted into safe mode and the same thing happens there too.

I really need this fixed.  I cant do a system restore - so that is not an option.  Even though I have set them through spybot, but when i bring up the restore option - it shows no restore points.

My XPS 17 laptop will not power up.

Battery seems fine (fully charged) and the power cable is also OK - tried with another Dell laptop.  I've also tried different power sockets out of desperation, but no luck.

The problem started intermittently, occasionally the laptop would not power up, but now seems to be present full time.  I'm hoping that it isn't a problem with the on/off switch itself as I am living over in Finland and am not sure if there are any Dell repair centers over here.

Any help much appreciated!

Hi

Weird issue with touch screen. When desktop is open and you click on the volume icon on the task bar, it opens and when you move the mouse pointer to adjust the volume the second, the pointer gets to the top of the task-bar the volume window, closes only way to change the volume (with out using F keys) is to click the volume window on the touch screen with your finger which then puts the mouse pointer inside the volume window. You can then adjust the volume as you would normally. This also happens if you click the action center or battery window on the task-bar. Also the file manager is the same. It seems that if there is any desktop space between the top of the task-bar and the window you just opened if will fail. If you open a browser which is full screen no failure. This also happens in outlook when you type the first few letters of the addressee and the window of suggested matches opens in the text balloon, when you hover to the address you want it closes out, and disappears.

  I have reinstalled o/s by recover, formatted and reinstalled o/s, load Win 10 beta and now back to win 8. Also re-downloaded drivers and googled like crazy.

I have a Dell Vostro 1014 laptop. It is 4 year passed now i got a problem.

Whenever the laptop runs without power it only runs for 15-20 minutes even it is fully charged.

My dell vostro monitor, which is 4 year old shows various colors or grains while working.... after restarting (with power off button), again run for 10-20 min or less, and repeats the same problem... please give me solution..
