Yesterday i asked this question:

Hi i just tried to update my amd ccc to v15.7 from v8 but the installation ended with a blue screen of death. When u restarted i got 800x600 resolution. Windows had stopped both Intel hd graphics and amd hd 6630m ( code 43). So i now plan to reinstall bith drivers from dell cd will it help? Or not? Should i again install v13.7.  Please help.

I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the system. Please enter your service tag # on the link below and click on ‘Get drivers and downloads’ select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.

Also, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Click on Start button.

In the search box type devmgmt.msc and then press enter.

Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.

Now select properties.

In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.

Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”

You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver first and then AMD card driver on the system for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link above, select the operating system, and then download Video card drivers listed from Video section onto the system and install it.

I did the same

1. I already had A13 latest bios

2. I uninstalled intel HD graphics 3000 driver( it was a Amd signed intel driver i.e. driver manufacturer was Ati

3. I restarted my pc and windows tried to install the intel graphics driver but it failed somehow.

4. Since there were no video card drivers on dell page i used dell resource cd to install the driver.

5. Files successfully extracted but it showed an error " Your system is incompatible with this software".

6. I went to device manager and tried to install driver by manually selecting the folder where files were extracted but it failed as there were no files.

7. I then chose automatically install driver and windows was able to do it. So i achieved 1024x720 resolution.

8. Device manager listed it as Standard VGA graphics

9. I uninstalled Amd HD 6630m driver and without restarting i started installation of Amd driver.

10. I neither failed nor was successful. I read in log that Amd and Intel driver was installed. ( Amd cccis designed to change original intel driver with modded one for switchable graphics). I found that amd ccc install manager installation failed as i had v8.0 due to uodating drivers in first place.

11. Restart

12. Windows installed Driver of Amd Radeon 6600m/6700m series and it was successful. I tried to uninstall amd ccc install manager but it could not uninstall due to missing dll files and ccc itself not showed up in installed programs.

13. I again installed amd driver from cd but this time it showed installation package failure. I also found that ccc was not enlisted in programs but was working.

14. Restart

15. Hurray EVERYTHING FIXED

      Device manager enlisted both Mobile intel HD graphics as well as Amd. I got 1366x768 resolution back.

But some things need to be solved ------

1. Your system is incompatible error on installing hd graphics driver

2. Amd ccc install manager missing dll files.

Hi All,

Hi,

My laptop here is a Dell Inspiron 15R N5010.

The laptop stops to work, now I'm unable to get into the windows, only a black screen in the LCD after start and a 4 beeps interval.

Occasionally though, it will do a BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE (repeats).

This happens on boot all the time, I have tried to turn off and remove and reconnect the memories but after restart the beeps still occurring.

What is causing this? The sound seems to be a:

Memory read / write failure

What should be the fix?

- Reseat the memory or replace the memory?

- Is there any test to perform before buy a new memory ?

What else can I try?

I feel stupid BUT I do not know how to EJECT a disk from the drive... and really, just how to operate within it such as burning FROM it, to it... I do not know whether there is a 'menu'... this PC is new to me as well as Windows 8.1.

I sense there is something somewhere that I am missing???? My old PC used an 'F' key to eject.

Is there an online manual for this laptop...Inspiron 17

I have finally turned off the touchpad on my dell XPS. the touchpad is so sensitive that when typing it moves the cursor to wherever the arrow is at while you type. the touchpad drivers has a palm rejection setting but changing the setting does not seem to do anything and the only setting that 'saves' continuously is to turn off the touchpad. The palm rejection is a great idea if it worked. How do i get the touchpad palm rejection to work so that it is not so sensitive while typing?

Before I replace my son's Dell laptop, Is Dell going to stand behind their product?  In reading thru this forum, this is obviously a default in manufacturing.  I would hope that Dell would stand up and take responsibility for their products.  I have had good luck with Dell in the past and my employer has bought thousands of Dell computers and that is why I went with them because we always had good experiences at work.   

I have seen posts about taking the mother board out and baking it, but I am not talented enough to do all of that. 

Suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

What stylus pens are compatible with Alienware 14? Using for Gimp 2 and mouse capable. Bamboo Connect looks great but not sure if its just for tablets or compatible with. Where do I start?

So i get a call today from "tech support" stating that my laptop downloaded something suspicious and was sending DELL some alarming messages.

The "tech" identified my laptop by referencing a technical issue that I opened with directly with DELL about 6 months to a year ago.  That is, the said that "XPS15 laptop that had an issue with the right USB port is sending suspicious messages" and they'd be able to help.

Having had these "helpful" phone calls before, and before he started the "diagnostics" process, I asked if he wanted me to open the EVENT VIEWER, to which he replied, "why would I want you to do that?" And then he hung up.

Interesting too that I hadn't used that laptop in a few weeks, btw.

Seeing how I only reported the issues with DELL, and only DELL (presumably) had my contact info as it related to that issue, WAS DELL HACKED ????

How did this "helpful tech representative" have my contact info AND knowledge of my technical issue ??????? 

DELL???  HELLO ????

When I open a document in Word, and read it doing a presentation, the touch screen will become unresponsive, I then have to shut down the unit and restart it.  I can use the mouse on the corner arrows but when I put the unit in tablet mode I can't use the mouse.  Any one have a solution?

My Dell laptop won't turn on. When I plugg it in to the charger I try to press the power button to see if it will turn on but then the charger light turns off and nothing happens. Is my laptop broken forever?

As you all know in about 14days there will be worldvide migration to windows10 for those who want this and reserved Win10, so I do. But there's my question. Will Bios and/or drivers be compatible with new Windows? I'm using Dell Latitude E6420 and I wonder whether if ever drivers or/and bios will be updated due to being compatible with new Windows?

Hello, my Alienware's screen basically no longer comes on. Though the laptop itself is on. When I turn it on the screen remains black and sometimes will come on when I unplug and replug the power cord to it. Though lately it no longer works so it's becoming difficult to get the screen to turn on. And when in use, like playing ArcheAge, the screen starts to have different colors usually a light blue in places it shouldn't, and it will escalate to he point where I am unable to see what I was doing in the first place and the screen goes black.

As stated in the title my laptop has recently started to flicker really bad and then go to a black screen with the backlight still working. I've read through the forums about updating the correct drivers and installed the correct ones for my model. I've reset the computer back to factory defaults, updated the drivers with Drivers Utility, changed the battery, got a new lcd cable and screen. Nothing has worked. I've run the diagnostics from start up and even tho the screen was blinking out WHILE it was going on diagnostics found nothing wrong with the computer. 

At this moment I'm just getting fed up with this. Since I've had problems with this laptop from the very beginning.

I bought a new battery for my N5010 Inspiron laptop.

After running powercfg -energy, I found following info.

Battery:Battery Information

Battery ID	1727SamsungDELL 7XFJJ05
Manufacturer	Samsung
Serial Number	1727
Chemistry	LION
Long Term	1
Design Capacity	48840
Last Full Charge	48696

This essentially means battery is fine.

Dell Battery meter detects Battery ID as well.

I have tried uninstalling battery driver in device manager and it does not work.

I am not able to try solution with BIOS update because battery level is below 10%.

How do i resolve this.

I have the latest gen. Inspiron 15 7000 (7547 model to be exact) and last week my HD crashed (appears that one of the heads was damaged and caused damage to the HD).  Needless to say, I was able to retrieve some data but not all but I don't want to go back to a standard HD.

Anyways, I am in the market for a replacement HD and I want to go with an SSD.  Does an SSD work the Inspiron 7547? If so, is there a certain kind/size that is recommended? I was looking at the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) on Amazon which seem to be on sale and heve generally positive reviews.

Also, how would I go about re-installing windows 8.1 on the new drive since my old one crashed?

I have recently bought a DW 5550 Mobile Broadband for my Dell XPS L502x but i dont now how to insert it on my lap. In the other word, when i opened laptop backcover, i coudnt see any empty slot for inserting the new piece.

I thought that i had to replace wirless piece by the new piece but Mobile BroadBand piece size is smaller that the new one. Another slot was fiiled by AverMedia piece. Now, should i insert the Mobile Broadband top of the Avermedia chip?

We have a DELL XPS L702X laptop. One day, it failed to boot, with the following message:

Werfault.exe

“The instruction at 0x000007FEF4D7E998 referenced memory at 0x000007FEF4D73998. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185.”

Searching online forums, most pointed to the NVIDIA video drivers. I updated those in safe mode (using the official dell.com support site downloads using my service tag), still got the error. Since this model has dual video cards, I also updated the Intel video drivers.

Now, instead of the Werfault.exe message, I get the BSOD with standard message. Under Technical Information, it says:

Sorry, the message comes up to quick for me to record before the system reboots. I tried to snap a picture of it quickly, but it cut off parts of the message, hence the "????" above. But it's rare I find the actual HEX addresses matter, anyway. Actually... I just started the laptop again, and the BSOD this time reference completely different addresses and did not mention CI.dll at all this time. So, I guess they really don't matter.

One thing suggested by the BSOD and support forums is a BIOS update. I downloaded the BIOS - again from Dell, using my service tag, which brought me here:

It says "This file format consists of a BIOS executable file. The Universal (Windows/MS DOS) format can be used to install from Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows 2000, NT, Windows 9X, Windows ME or a MS DOS environment." and has instructions for using under either Windows or DOS.

I can still boot to Windows in SAFE MODE. However, when I try to run the BIOS executable in safe mode, it fails saying "Service failed to start" - so it's looking for some Windows 7 service to be able to run! I'm sorry, but I have to say it - that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. A BIOS update is a very low level thing and should not depend on ANY Windows service! Anyway, since the support site stated it could be run in DOS, I made a DOS bootable USB stick and booted to that. Figuring, perhaps there's a check for the OS in the .exe file that runs a different set of program commands for DOS. Suprise, surprise (not really) it then said "This Program cannot be run from DOS mode"

So, HELP! Is there an alternative way to upgrade the BIOS?

Then, I actually doubt upgrading the BIOS is going to fix my problem! Anyone have other ideas of what I can do, short of a disk wipe?

Here are options I've tried or ruled out:

The computer, like all Dells today, does not have any Windows disks, any recovery disk, or any such thing. I did make restore points, but for some reason they're all gone!! So I cannot do system restore, or even OS reinstall.

I don't have a Windows 7 repair disk, and can't make one (won't let me in safe mode again... *sigh*) but I do have a bootable usb stick I can put tools on and run.

I tried "Last Known Good" from the F8 boot menu... it didn't work.

I noticed that it does boot to the select user screen, so I created a new user and tried to log in as the new user, hoping perhaps a user setting was causing the problem, still same BSOD.

I also tried updating the chipset drivers, however, that install failed in Safe Mode as it was looking for a particular Windows service also.

Hi all,

I'm having problems with my Dell since last year and put it in the closet until now. When I turn it on it just beeps continuously with stopping. It has a weird beep though and the screen is black. I've tried taking out the battery and unplugging the system and holding down the power button to no avail. I have also try FN and power button....nothing. I've tried holding down the D key and power button....nothing.

It only worked for a year and then died. What can I do? Does it need a new MB? or HD? It's probably cheaper to buy a new computer. Can I buy used somewhere?

Any help is appreciated.
