I have an M731R with Windows 8.1 x64 installed. Randomly, the system will completely lock up (black screen, HDD shut down, etc). It is not overheating and the BIOS is the latest version. This problem has been happening since the 1st week I owned it, but the problem is random so, it's impossible to pin down. Also, the windows system logs show nothing... no event whatsoever prior to the lockup. All diagnostics show everything passes.

Two finger scrolling NOT WORKING (at all)
I recently purchased a dell xps 15 and right of the bat I am having quite an annoying issue with it. The two finger scrolling on the track pad is completely not working. What's strange is that initially right after I booted up it was in fact working, however abit later it stopped working. Please provide some assistance dell!

Dell Inspiron 17 7000
I have a Dell Inspiron 17 7000 and after restarting after an update, it now boots to the Dell logo and goes no further. I searched for a solution and apparently the problem is in the BIOS - a setting that needs to be changed but when I press the F2 button on startup for setup, it goes to a black screen and nothing happens.
Can anyone help?

Inspiron 15R 5537 - Bios upgrade
When I go to the Drivers & Downloads page for my laptop, there seems to be a bios upgrade to A09, however the Bios upgrade is listed for the Inspiron 5437 instead of the 5537 model.
I still tried the bios upgrade, but it is rejected as it should be I guess. Not that it's that important, as my laptop is still working great, but I just want to bring this error to your attention.

Ram Upgrade didn't work for Dell Vostro 3560
Hello All,
Today, I added 4gb extra compatible RAM to my Vostro 3560. It didn't add any value to the existing RAM. I tried several ways by plugging out and in, it didn't work.
In BIOS menu it still shows 4 GB RAM. Can someone help me fixing this issue.

Dell e7350 doesn't go to sleep
I have the e7350 and if i tel it to go to sleep it acts like it does. then i close the lid and leave it alone. If i leave it alone say for 7 hours it will almost be out of battery. I really don't think it is going to sleep. if i run powercfg -lastwake it comes back none. Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron 6000
Hi wonder if anyone can assist please I recently found I cannot connect by wireless to my router. The wi fi light is lit on the computer and when I go into wireless properties it is saying it is working correctly but I cannot connect . I have put an Ethernet cable in and it connects. Have tried updating drivers but it is saying the one I am using is the current one. Tried restoring to a different date still nothing ran the boot system and the wireless configuration is as recommended. Tried most things but to no avail someone mentioned renewing my IP address but not sure how to do it but as said it works hard wired. Any suggestions?

Replacement wifi card for Inspiron 15 3521
Lately, I had quite a problem with the wifi on my Inspiron 15 3521 laptop, a Broadcom BCM43142 based wifi card, also called Dell wirelles 1704 wifi card.
It could be no internet traffic at all while still being connected to the AP, freeze, or kernel panic, on Ubuntu 15.04. I don't know if it's an issue with broadcomwl driver on linux or a hardware problem. I need to test this in Windows 8 to check that out.
Anyway, I am already looking at replacing the card by possibly an Intel Advanced-N 6235 mini PCI-E card. Is this one compatible ? It does bluetooth too.
What is the format of the card ? mini PCI-e half size ?

E7740 HD4400 frozen on 200MHz
Sometimes in noticed that HD4400 in E7440 (with i7 4600U¨) is frozen on 200MHz (this is absolute unusual frequncy : base frequncy is 600MHz for this one), regardless the (graphic)load, power profile. I also tried removing AC/DC cable. Note I noticed that condition while the notebook was charging( with 65watt Dell adapter, but the shipped is 45W) . I also played with th Dell Commande | Power - changed thermal management - changed all four modes (Cool,Quiet,Balanced,Ultra performance) Tried also suspend&resume.
But in some moments (30s) the GPU unlocked and was able to react according to load (600 OR 900 MHz), but i didn't observe cause.
It is serious problem, becaouse the graphic performance is poor in this condition.
Another symptoms:
-throttlestop shows permanently TDP Throttle icon, regardless power draw (2W..15W - no change)
-CPU cannot fully utilize turbo(3.3GHz) - only utilizes 2.7GHz(turbo starting freq.) on the TDP Level 2 and 2.1GHz (base freq). on TDP control 0 or 1 (I dont remember now).
Questions:
Does the charging cause this problem? (I suspect E7440 thanks to Haswell-ULT is "frugal" platform compared to standard mobile or quadcore)
Does the Power - Thermal management settings caused the freq. to lockup?
PS: Does the Balanced (in dell tool )setting represent the former "Standard" option in the windows power manager- edit - Dell Enhanced Settings - Thermal Mode (Standard,Ultra performance, Cool, Quiet)

3740QM on E6430 frozen on 800MHz with
The title of the thread is meant to be fully self-explaining. I can't understand one very unexpected thing:
E6430 showed as very powerful model with high performance sustained over long time. Even on battery. (for example I saw 51W from cpu + 25W approx(NVS5200 has not wattcounter) for GPU = TOTAL about 75W on battery)
So the performance is unlimited, when running ON BATTERY or WHEN >=90W AC adapter ("power supply" in English).
But when I plug 45 OR 65W adapter why is the CPU frequency FROZEN on just 800MHz ?? When doest this happetn even if the battery is fully charged?
It cannot even be changed in throttlestop...
PS: i know that these adapters are underrated for E6430, dialog box with that information appears. The point of the question is that the presence of power supply is supposed to at least leave the system performance on the same level as running on battery.

PowerShare not active when on battery?
Was E6x20 able to charge USB via Powershare (notebook off) devices with power supply unplugged? I googled some BIOS screenshots, but I am not sure which model it belongs with certainity (which amount of battery capacity to reserve).
In E6x30 this option is definitely off (in the BIOS, OR is it possible in NVRAM editor?). Why was it removed? It was extremely useful to charged without AC supply. And neccessity to run notebook in suspend to RAM is annoying. I also suspect that below some % of battery the powershare doesn't work even in suspend... Is it true?

Inspiron n7010 black screen, 8 beeps
Last year I was watching a video file on my Inspiron n7010. The video froze and the screen turned into a pick and green checkerboard pattern. I shut off the computer, waited, and tried turning it back on only to have a black screen with 8 beeps. I understand this is an LCD failure an requires a screen replacement. I replaced the screen yesterday and it is still black with 8 beeps. If I try holding down the 'D' key and turning it on to test and see solid colors, sometimes it works and sometimes not. What do I need to do to fix my computer?

Keyboard backlight
Hello,
I have an Inspiron 17 5758, and I would like to have the backlight for the keyboard on all the time. I can use FN F10 to dim it and turn it completely off, but there is no way that I can find to have it left on.
My Windows Mobility Center does not have a keyboard option, and my keyboard settings do not have any reference to the backlight.
I have googled it to death, so I'm hoping that someone here might be able to offer me direction.

Programs won't open on XPS15
I have a 4 year old XPS 15 L502X which has generally been running well. However, recently some programs won't open, mainly games and sometimes firefox. When I look at task manager I see that the process runs for a few seconds but closes automatically. I ran a few diagnostics such as CHKDSK and it says that my C: has become corrupted. Is my best option now to install a new HDD?
