I really really need to disable the "Dell Intelligent Display" feature on my M2800. The constant brightness chnanges hurt my eyes.
This option is not on any of the power management screens.
My bios is not set to secure boot.
I have not found a suitable QuickSet app.
I have Windows 8.1 64bit installed.
Please help me.

Dell's Product Support lists a BIOS update that is supposed (according to Dell's web site) to be compatible with Dell Inspiron 14 (3437), 14R (5437), 15 (3537) and 15R (5537) laptops.
Dell's web site also showed that the file was relevant to my service tag (a 15R 5537).
I have downloaded the file to my 15R (5537): 5437A09.EXE
Ran the executable from my Windows 8.1 desktop, and after a short delay pops up a window saying that it is not supported.
Created a bootable DOS USB stick. Ran the file from DOS and same occurs.
If the BIOS update is indeed relevant to my laptop, then get it corrected.
If the BIOS is not relevant to my laptop (via its service tag) the correct the listing, as someone at Dell has incorrectly marked it as relevant.

I just bought my dell vostro 5470 3 days back.
My issue is the power button.Sometimes I press it for a few seconds it turns on the laptop
But sometimes it takes very long presses of the power button to turn it on its like luck.

Hi. I have an ispirion 15 5000 series 5547 windows 7. My problem is , when I connect a USB mouse touch pad is disable and i can't use at all. Its really annoying. I have the leatest drivers for touch pad and I update many times. dosnt work. USB mouse work ok but touch pad no. Please help

thanks for your response, but I've done it just right now but still, the screen does not rotate.
I've tried rotate it while in full flip( keyboard on the back of the monitor?) left side , right side and upside down. but the screen did not move nor rotate.
is there any botton or option that I need to turn on the auto rotate option? or is it really automatic and need not to check the check box , or turn on the auto rotate option?

I was given a new Dell laptop E7440 cannot use the keyboard. Each of the buttons clicks fine, but are writing incorrect letters. For example, when I press a 'G' it writes 'GT' and when I press an 'H' it writes 'HY'. The caps lock is writing '/' rather than functioning as a caps lock. The FN key is acting as the 'Alt' key and my backspace button keeps performing random functions depending on which programme I'm in, such as bringing up a find/replace box when in Word.
Any ideas?

I have a dell xps13 2015 early laptop win8.1
I can't figure out how to middle click on the touchpad. There seems to only be the basic windows mouse driver installed, I think there should be some dell driver. I can't find one to download on the dell site. I have updated the touchpad firmware - no change.
No gestures beyond the the basic taps work
I assume there IS a way to middle-click.
I may have removed the driver when I was cleaning out all the unwanted junk form the new laptop. I can't find a way to re-download.
I've updated my BIOS to latest version of A13 for my Dell laptop Inspiron 7737, however, the BIOS does not show support for Wake-on-LAN (WOL).
There's USB Wake, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I'm attempting to use PXE to remotely turn on my Dell laptop.
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64-bit
My laptop's network cable is hooked up to a un-managed Cisco Linksys layer-2 switch.
After putting into suspend/hiberate mode, there's no link activity reported by the switch.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Please note that I've already change the power management options in an attempt to keep the NIC active at all times. However, my switch shows no link light when I suspend the laptop which suggests that the NIC went offline anyway. This suggests that perhaps the BIOS function for WOL needs to be added in the future?
So,I recently bought a 2007 latitude XT and when i was checking out the features, I noticed on the bottom right there was a Biographic scanner, and i really like the idea of having that as my password, but When i checked out the properties of the scanner, there were no drivers. So, i clicked the "Update drivers" button and it took me to an unfinished website. there were no downloads to be seen and it was just a homepage with several links to various other drivers. What I would like help with is...
A) Either a link or directions on how to get the correct drivers.
B) How to set my fingerprint as my password

I save all my music library files to an external HD on my Inspiron 15. I attached a second external HD, intending to back up the main library drive--but the second drive doesn't show up in "My Computer" or anywhere else. I know the computer recognized it--it told me I'd get better performance if I used a USB 3.0 port. Any ideas how to access the second HD? Thanks.

I have bought a Dell Vostro 5470 last month and I am finding myself having a difficulty on making the fingerprint scanner to work.
I tried everything, there isnt a post which i havent seen here and still no success.
The only thing that i manage to do with the fingerprint is to sign in to windows (8.1).
i tried installing digital persona, updating it, removing the drivers, reinstalling them, win8 comptablilty mode and etc... and i concider myself as one who manage to solve this kind of issues.
I would like to know if its possible to use the fingerprint scanner to log in to websites or any other use that they could help in. and of course if it was built to work with win 8.1.

I have a Dell XPS 15z with slot load DVD. I am using Windows 7 system recovery using system image. Apparently, the DVD won't eject using the keyboard thus I can't put the next system image DVD. the eject works fine if not in recovery environment. Help please!
My system is running Windows 8.1. When I plug in external power the system hibernates. It's probably a setting somewhere, but where? Any ideas?
I've noticed that anytime I take a screenshot with the Windows Snipping Tool (or any other tool, for that matter) and paste into Word doc, Excel sheet, or Outlook Email, the screenshot pastes as a size that is huge. I have to resize everytime. It's extremely frustrating to have to do this every time. Is there a fix for this? How can I prevent this happening?

We have been using MDT to deploy our Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit images on our Dell machines. We have been successfully using it until we have been buying the Latitude E5450 model. We have had to tweak the BIOS due to an issue with hibernation. Now if I have TPM turned on it boots up really slowly (shows Windows is loading files, which has never shown prior) and even though I follow the steps to turn on BitLocker, it does not turn on after the reboot but Active Directory shows the recovery keys in the Computer object.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
