E6400 TOUCHPAD CURSOR PROBLEM ANY IDEAS
I HAVE TO TAB ALOT IN ORDER TO CHANGE POSITION ON A FORM OR EVEN WRITING EMAILS. I am deeply confused while tapping should move cursor where I want it, it seems stubborn and sometimes I have to tab to areas to get cursor to move. ANY solutions? I will not reinstall win7 for this. is it the alps driver which I have the latest? I forgot how I got the driver anyway. help please, and I pray I don't have to do tag with a lot of emails to find a solution. forget using a mouse, just concerned with touchpad not moving as it should with TAPPING it to move cursor to fill forms and email.

My Dell stylus is not working at all ..... and by that I mean it doesn't even behave itself using the pen control panel.. So, I suspect the firware drivers haven't been detected and installed.
There is a firmware update for my device which looks like it *may* help as it is targetted at the stylus, but when I run it it fails:
what am I missing?? That is the only driver (below) I can locate that might relate to the touch panel :(

Legacy mode will not detect wireless network
I have to run my laptop in legacy mode because I work from a bitlocker encrypted workstation USB drive. When I am finished entering my work I need to upload it but when in legacy mode my wireless is not detected and I have no Ethernet connection on this laptop. IT from my work place said I needed to enable UEIF. I did not see an option to run legacy mode with UEIF enabled so I tried UEIF mode with legacy enabled. That made it not boot to my USB. I have search all over the internet and have not found any information on this problem at all. Can anybody give me a clue. I feel like I have tried everything. I have a dell Inspiron_3551 64 bit. I am running Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the Legacy 1394 driver from Microsoft but when I install the MSI package the legacy1394.inf is missing.

System Date and time changing abruptly
Hi,
I have a 4.5 year old Dell Inspiron 1464. I have the latest BIOS update installed.
Since few weeks I have noticed that the system date/time is changing automatically to 2019 or 2025.
Is this caused by virus or a weak CMOS coin battery?
Any help?

Crash : Blue screen with my E7240 - WIndows 7 64bits

Please help, when I plug USB device sometimes a blue screen appear and I have to reboot in safe mode and reboot in normal mode to work normally.

E7440 Touchpad gestures capabilities
Hello, I have questions about Touchpad Driver in E7440. (Windows 8). Generally, i talk about DellTouchpad.exe, not DellTPad.exe.
(First of all, thank you for driver update- "- Fixed the issue that 3-finger flick stop working suddenly." is very important)
But in this update, there no longer works (i think it could be toggled in settings-gestures- One finger gestures) "Swipe from top" gesture to open options bar in metro apps. Why was it removeed? Will it be brought back?
Second, and more important:
Compared to the E6430 touchpad driver (in Windows 7), there are (for me ) missing capabilities:
There is missing entire tab like here (title could be in English Zoom & scrolling)

2. Zooming by left edge of touchpad (which is more comforatble than pinch zoom for me )
I also note, that the scroll settings (one-finger) in right and bottom edge are avaiable in DellTPad.exe, not in DellTouchpad.exe
Is it caused by that this is version for WIndows 8? These capabilities are inhibited in Windows 8? Is the only solution to downgrade to Windows 7?
I also have another tips for improvement:
-enable corner coasting in scrolling. (If you scroll, doesnt matter by two finger or one finger gesture - and you reach end of the active area and stay here, the scrolling continues). In linux synaptics driver (and working on vostro 1310 also) it is possible since 2010 at least.
-Poinstick middle button - combined function. For the middle button i like the scrolling function (*holding* middle button and scrolling with pointstick). But i would also prefer use it like regular middle button (*click*). But these two options are exclusive. It could be solved by taking advatage of the fact, that for scrolling you need to hold the button, but for middle button click you need to click it - so it could be distinguished (omitting the middle button hold capability.)

Cloned Windows 8 to an SSD, lost product key
Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron 7720, I got an ssd and cloned my windows to it. However the license key somehow did not show up. I tried booting windows from HDD and coping the key, but did not help. Is it possible to deactivate my windows on HDD and activate SSD windows?
