I have purchased Inspirion 15-3531 through eBay recently. immediately on switching on the power, the system is asking to enter the current password which I forgot. When I contacted the Dell company, they have not responded since the owner name is different. Can anyone please help me to unlock the bios password

Warranty regarding adding parts
I'm thinking about buying a Dell Inspiron 17R 5721 and I want to add more RAM. I've heard that replacing the memory won't void the warranty when the RAM added is Dell brand, but I've found no solid info on adding it yourself voiding the warranty or not.

The most problematic laptop i have ever used! Congrats
I have a Dell Inspiron 5537-9669 laptop. My previous two laptops were also Dell and i was happy with them since my wife and my friend are currently using them. But i had some concerns about the performance and decided to buy a i7-4500U, 8GB laptop.
So when i first bought it, it continuously showed me alerts on updating to windows 8.1. I updated it, but most of the functionalities did not work correctly (wireless connection problems, sleep mode problems, video hardware driver problem). I tried drivers from dell support system, did not work, i searched forums, tried all of the ways

Result was an average performance laptop with continous graphic card driver problems and each time i got an error, i remove and re-install amd drivers again and again( frequency is about once in a month).

Nearly constant noise from my Latitude E7240
It is not the fan, it is an electronic noise and the drive light flashes almost constantly. It sounds like an old fashioned computer noise, like something you'd hear in a 1970 movie sound effect. Sometimes it also makes a faint chirping noise. The fan sound is totally normal, so it isn't related to that.
I don't notice this sound when I am in the office plugged into my docking station. But I sure notice it at home! Drives me crazy!

8 beep on dell xps 13
Hello,
My computer ( DELL XPS 13 (L322X) early 2013) wasn't booting but the keyboards leds were ON, however no screen, no sounds, no fan just the processor which was heating... Then I tried to replace the motherboard but after replacing it with a new one ( not a refurbish one) when i turn it on, it makes 8 louds beep then wait and again 8 beeps infinitly... I saw it was a LCD failure but what can I do ? My old motherboard didn't do it...
Is it the new motherboard ? The old one ? Is there any solution ? The problem must not come from the motherboard at all ?

XPS12_9Q33 Screen rotation issue
I have had this laptop for almost 2 years now. Actually, it is my 3rd as the first 2 had major issues. Anyway, my question is about the screen rotation. Usually the screen works just fine. But lately I have had problems with the screen rotating with the smallest of a tilt and then I can't get it back to normal horizontal position. Before you ask, yes I have latest bios and yes all other drivers are up to date. I'd really like an answer from a knowledgeable Dell technician if there is one and he or she is monitoring this forum. Oh yeah, of course it is touch screen and I have recalibrated the touch screen. I have had to resort to turning off the automatic screen rotation.

DigitalPersona not working on windows 8.1! Solution

Found out how to make it work, just enable compatibility mode and change the compatibility to windows 8 of the digitalpersona's DPAgent.exe and dphostw.exe, you can do this via task manager and right clicking the apps related to digitalpersona and choosing properties then choose compatibility tab. if you it still doesn't work, install the validity driver, but don't install it directly, just extract it and run the installer in compatibility also to windows 8. Restart your PC! cheers!

Both, Intel& AMD have Updated Their Graphics Drivers Recently.
But, "DELL Customized Graphics Drivers Are Not Updated For DELL Inspiron 15R SE 7520".
Some Games are having issues with the "Switchable Graphics".
Also, GTA V is having lagging issues as the game is taking the "Intel" GPU rather than the "AMD" GPU.
So, its a Kind Request to see to it that the "Graphics Drivers Are Updated For DELL Inspiron 15R SE 7520".

dell latitube e6400 powers off instead of sleep
Hi i have this dell latitube e6400 and it works great but when i close the lid it turns it self off instead of going to sleep. the settings are on sleepmode in the power settings. how do i fix this ?

Inspiron 14R 5437 won't boot, can't change BIOS settings, can't boot from usb or disk
I have an old model of Dell Inspiron that I bought about a year ago, everything was fine until I applied some window updates onto it. I have the same problem as in this post 
.
I have read through the suggested solution in the post above but I can't use it for my laptop. I think the problem was that mine was an older model so that couldn't be applied.
As I powered on the laptop, I will get stuck in this screen
Can anyone help or give some suggestion? I'm a college student so buying a new laptop or doing any hardware replacement is nearly financial impossible for me. Thanks!

Dell l521x SSD Installation
I recently installed a 256gb Samsung ;850 Evo on my XPS laptop. I used a copy of Windows 7 on a USB and activated using the key on the service tag. I cannot seem to get a lot of the drivers to work. The nVIDIA driver says to install the Intel driver first. However, the Intel driver has problems installing as well. The multimedia keys on the top row of the keyboard do not work, except for the brightness and CD eject buttons. Windows update also becomes stuck on the downloading portion, saying that 0KB out of 0KB is downloading. Google Chrome will not download either, becoming stuck on the downloading screen. Any help is appreciated.

VOSTRO V131 Please HELP!

I need somebody's help, been hitting wall hardly for last 7 days, trying to get help from dell company...:(
As you can see on the photo, (my laptop is vostro v131) in red circle, with arrow pointing at - there is a lift to push up/push down keyboard's flat tape which connects it to motherboard
I broke that little thing accidentaly now half of my keyboard doesn work, in laptop it is a pain in the ....
if I need to plug an external keyboard...
I contacted dell, they answer is I need to buy keyboard KCP3T - name of the part for only 150$ !!!!
to get that little plastic brown bar, which probably cost around 0.01 $
anyway, I am quite sure the keyoard does not contain the part I am looking for
therefore asking here for folks, who can help me, where I can buy this part ?
I spent dozen hours on Internet, it's a real pita without working keys on your laptop:(

Repeating keys on Dell Latitude 3340
Dear Dell Engineers,
my congratulations on another faulty piece of hardware that you have created!
This time this is a Dell Latitude 3340. The problem is exactly the same as described in many other threads on this forum - some keys repeeating twice when entering text on internal keyboard.
I've tried three(!!) different samples (according to the sticker, they all were produced on Dec 14, 2014) received as a replacement and all of them have the same keyboard issue, no matter what OS and/or BIOS was installed.
Currently I'm running on my laptop a Windows 8.1 Pro with a latest drivers and BIOS version (A07) installed and still has this annoying issue (not quite often though, but still do).
As far as I know this defect was fixed with a latest BIOS update for some other models from the Latitude family. Therefore, would you be so kind to provide this fix for the Dell 3340 somehow?

E7240 USB Device Not Recognized
I have a E7240 that is approx 1 yr old and now acting up with some of my USB devices. I have a Polycom CX100 speaker that used to work flawlessly whenever I had it plugged into the laptop undocked or docked. About a week ago I started to get the USB Device Not Recognized error message when I plugged it in. It happened both when docked and undocked. I thought the Polycom died so I ordered another one.....same problem. Well, I spent countless hours reading online and still have issues. I have upgraded BIOS, taken the battery out, deleted everything out of device manager, power up, power down, check BIOS settings, run Microsoft fixit tools, etc and still no luck.
The only way I got it to work was to plug it into the side USB port rather than the back USB ports (I'd testing undocked right now)! I normally use the side USB for my Logitech USB mouse but unplugged it to troubleshoot. Low and behold my Polycom speaker worked in the side port. I plugged it into the back ports (still undocked) and get the all too familiar "USB device not recognized" error message.
So, how can I get the back USB ports working and why does there seem to be a different response from side vs. back ports? I need them to work when undocked then I can tackle getting it to work when docked. Incredibly frustrating Dell.
Any more troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I AM SOON TO GET A BACKLIT KEYBOARD TO REPLACE NON BACKLIT, and need to know if it will be plug and play when installed. as long as I HAVE DCP installed it should work or do I have to reinstall it for the backlit to work. the model of new board is Dell Precision M2400 M4400 / Latitude E6400 E6410 E6500 E6510 Backlit Laptop Keyboard - HT514

Dell Inspiron 14R-n5437 won't run the Dell loading screen
Hello,
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 4R-n5437 that was purchased last year. Everything was fine until I applied some Window 7 update and now my laptop won't start anymore.
Normally, when I turned on the laptop, a Dell start screen will show up and start to load the loading bar. After the Window update, my laptop restarted and stop in the Dell start screen. The loading bar won't load anymore but the BIOS and boot option was still lit up when I hit F2 or F12, but I can't go into those options since the loading bar won't load.
Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm a college student right now so purchasing a new piece of hardware would be financially impossible for me. I can provide pictures of the system if you need some more information.

Well the problem is that I keep running into random freezes/hangs for a short span of time while doing any process on this machine. This is severely interfering with my productivity and workflow.
