Hi, I have this problem, mi laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 15.6-Inch Laptop (i5548-2500SLV)).
When I turn on the laptop and Windows 8.1 charges, the disk (HDD) the usage is 100%. different process make that happend, allways is a different process, for example "True Colors", "Windows Services", "Firefox", "Explorer" and others.
My question is, what can I do for fix this problem..

My Dell Laptop is 3 years old, the battery health status is good, but when its plugged in charging its no longer charging to 100% in fact over the last week or so its gone from a maximum charge of 37% to 7% today!
I had the adapter tested and its working fine, has anyone any ideas as to why this is happening and how It can fix it before I am down to 0% !!
if the lead is out I get the message about your power being critically low!

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I can't find the info. I have a new XPS ultrabook (2015) running win 8.1. To say I hate the pinch zoom on the track pad is an understatement. I have looked everywhere to try and disable this function but can't find it.
anyone have an answer to this, for the dell 7548 I have a hyper x 3k ssd that is 9.5 mm will that fit did they leave some room below (depth) the hard drive bracket for 9.5mm devices?
My Inspiron 17R came with the Accuweather gadget already installed. I have never had an issue with it.
This morning, I noticed temperature said 0° and time was 4 hours later than it actually is here. My task bar shows the real time and date. I went to the settings for the gadget and put in my zip. It says not found. I tried a few other zip codes from my area and got "no results." I typed in a zip from NYC and it showed "New York, NY." When I clicked on that, it said it couldn't connect to the service.
I don't think there was a problem with it yesterday. Started this AM when I turned on computer.
Anyone know what is causing it and how I can fix it?

I have a Dell e6420 and have installed Dell Backup and Recovery. It's trying to set a baseline after installation and runs for 2-3 hours then crashes. I'm getting a generic "ran into a bug" error. Not sure how to proceed.
I'll add that it won't just restart. Clicking the icon does nothing. I can only get it running by doing a full uninstall, restart, then reintall, restart again.
I lost one of the screws for the back-panel of a XPS 13 9343 (Developer Edition, 2015).
It's a small, silver Torx T5 screw, with a 4mm-wide head; total length is either 2.5mm or 3mm.
Where would it be possible to order a replacement? Can I get it directly from Dell? The laptop works fine, but I definitely want to make sure it's all nice and tight.

Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Windows 7, boots to black screen after hibernation or power on until after 8 minutes have passed. This happens every time, so I now leave the laptop powered up 24 hours a day.
After about 8 minutes of tries to boot, the laptop always boots to Windows without fail.
Nothing else is wrong with Laptop. All diags pass always. I did the "remove battery power off reset", booting to bios, booted to CD, plus all the recommended remedies for "booting to black screen issues". All updates are applied, The Bios is up to date. I put in a brand new battery. I reinstalled Windows 7.
The laptop is several years old, Is this a bad Bios battery or bad boot memory? Keep in mind all diags pass always.
I have an Inspiron 15R(N5110) and am looking to update my USB 3.0 driver. If I look in the dell support page, it points to this driver:
This doesn’t make sense since my USB 3.0 controller is a Renesas Electronics according to the device manager in Windows 7. If this is the right driver, it has the same version number (2.0.32.0) as my current driver with a date of 12/10/2010.
After looking around in Dell support, I found these drivers:

Both of these are newer versions, but are not listed as compatible for my system. They are listed as compatible for Inspiron 14R(N4110) and Inspiron 17R(N7110) with Windows 7 64 bit. My computer is an Inspiron 15R(N5110) with Windows 7 64 bit. Did Dell make a mistake on the support page and point me to the wrong driver? Doesn’t it seem like this would be the driver I would need as my computer is the same as the 2 listed accept it has a 15 inch screen?

I can't turn on my laptop, it is Inspiron 1440 and I have been using it for 5 years.
It's lagging one night hence I restarted it but it wouldn't turn on. The screen was completely blank. I left it and tried to turn it on again the next day and the normal window screen appeared but the next screen asked me to choose between 2 options and I chose the recommended one (faulty boot up or something like that). Since then, it's been staying on dark screen whenever I tried to power on again. It beeps 2 times a minute after I turn it on.
I've tried removing the battery and hold on the power button for 30 seconds but to no avail. Please help. It's an old laptop I understand it may have come to the end of it but I have some files I wish to retrieve. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
From what I have read these errors mean I have to replace my hard drive. Could I remove my WDBUZG5000ABK-NESN external hard from its casing and use it as my new laptop hard drive? Given that this drive is SATA, 500 GB, and 5400 rpm, this earlier topic en.community.dell.com/.../19482041 indicates my drive is compatible. Also, I am unable to Windows from the hard drive of CD/DVD drive and was unable to retrieve my data using Knoppix as I could not mount my hard drive. Is my best chance to recover my data to use my old drive as a slave after it is replaced? Is this different from just using it as an external hard drive? Thanks.
Long story short...
I set up dual boot on my XPS - 9333, with Windows 8, and Ubuntu, everything was great.
Yesterday I broke my Ubuntu system and I couldn't restore it. So I attempted to make a new Ubuntu install but overwrited EVERYTHING! Windows + Ubuntu, including recovery partitions it would seem.
So what do I do? How do I start again? - I need the factory build. The partitions / drive back to normal and Windows 8.
Help will be appreciated, thanks!

My L502x has an issue where I will close the lid to put the machine into standby and the fan will not turn off, the laptop gets extremely hot and I have to pull the power lead and/or battery then reinsert to power the laptop up again. It can vary from the fan being at full speed or ~half speed, regardless of the speed of the fan I have to pull the power to get the fan to stop and reboot.
This doesn't happen all the time, probably about 4-5 times a week. What can I do to fix it? I am running the latest bios.
I have owned four Dell laptops (must be a masochist) since the 1990's. Each one has been protected by Norton or other security software. Each one starts its life doing everything as advertised. But as soon as the hardware and OS warranties expire the system begins to do strange things which, despite workarounds and other attempts at resolution, finally render the system useless.
The current Dell computer, an Inspiron 5537, OS Win7, first flaw manifested itself as a failure to boot automatically from the HD. Had to manually boot it from F12 menu. This ran w/o problem for awhile until the internet wireless gateway shut it self down and had to be repaired each time it occurred from the Control Panel. Dell customer service sent an OS repair dvd. This worked for awhile until on cold boot I started getting a loading updates, do not turn off computer message followed by up dates failed messages warning not to turn off computer while up dates were being removed. This seemed to send the system into an infinite loop displaying the message and the busy circle rotating continuously.
Customer Services are no help unless you send them $300 to $400 and let them into your computer. I see my options as:
= pay the ransom
=go to the nerds at Best Buy, at least I know who's in my computer
=use the money to buy an HP laptop but will that solve the OS part of the problem
=switch Apple but will my software and files work w/Apple? Are their conversion Programs that actually work?

I have an Inspiron 3135 running Windows 8.1. After using the laptop about 15 - 20 minutes, the touchscreen stops working. Rebooting the system temporarily fixes the issue. Can anyone help?

The CD drive on my inspiron 1525 will read a CD but will not recognize a blank CD. So I cannot copy anything to CD. Help.

Hello, I have a question is it possible to upgrade normal L702X screen to L702X 3D screen? I know that it is not possible to get the 3D stuff to work on non 3D laptop but i am interested in 120hz option or that wont work?
