I have bought the Dell Inspiron 1545 in 2009 which it had Windows 7, then it stopped working for a long time after it has been fixed due to HDD problems and connectivity.
But now I have upgraded to Windows 8.1 yesterday and for some reason that my Touchpad/Mousepad has stopped working, so I am just wondering if it something to do with the drivers or the connections inside the laptop which it might be loose.
Does this laptop has an enabled/disable feature on the keyboard to lock the mousepad, which I might've accidently pressed which I can't find where it is on the keyboard.

I have bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop in 2009 which it previously had Windows 7 and everything worked fine until this print spooler problem occurs just happened in mid-2011 and until now with Windows 8.1 upgraded which I have done yesterday.
Everytime I go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer the problem occurs that the print spooler service is not running, this is what would Microsoft call it "Windows can't open Add Printer (Paragraph line) The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine."
I have tried this by going in to Services and Start the spooler service, but somehow another error message which come up saying "Windows could not start the Spooler service on Local Computer. (Paragraph line) Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
Is there a way to solve this issue?
Please reply back if you want pictures showing error messages instead of written text just to make it easier, please reply back.

I recently bought a new Alienware 17 laptop. Computer is awesome, except I can;t seem to get my HDMI plug to work. I have tried to connect with several projectors, including a brand new one and nothing seems to work. Worse, I bought it at Futureshop, which has just been bought out by Best Buy, so not sure if I'm now left out in the cold or not. Any suggestions?
i have a N5110 i3 laptop that is dead as.
power supply is fine, i pulled it down, replaced the power jack (no soldering needed)
& hoped that would fix it but no, still dead
i guess the mainboard is shot, anything or any ideas how i might fix it?
a new mb is too costly, will be thrown away 1st
I've had my XPS12 for 2 years and for the most part it's been great. I installed Netgear Genie recently and about the same time the XPS12 lost the ability to go to sleep. When I hit the power switch (which is set to make the PC sleep), it shuts the computer down. When I put it to sleep via the Charms menu, it doesn't seem to ever reach a sleep state as the light on the power button stays fully lit for 5 - 10 minutes and then the machine shuts down. Furthermore, when I shut the machine down via the Charms menu, it does the same thing (power light stayhs lit for 5-10minutes, then the machine shuts down). I've since uninstalled Netgear Genie but am still having the same problem. This is a major issue for me as I am constantly on the go and probably put the PC in and out of sleep mode 6-10 times per day. With the machine in it's current state, I lose and have to recover anything I haven't saved when I forget that it's broken and try to put it in sleep. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thx.
My computer broken down yesterday, and I just want to use Dell onekey restore to recover it. but, it pop up a windows and inform that cannot restore recovery partition. OMG, I almost go crazy, I have search a article-<how to restore dell computer factory image> but it said that computer must be backed up with AOMEI OneKey Recovery before it crashed. what should I do?
I have the inspiron 1545 laptop and when I put the power cord on with the battery on the laptop no boot and the lights continuously light four times red and one green and the laptop never boot. If I take away the battery and put on the power cord the laptop doesn't do anything. It is dead. No lights no nothing. What is going on? Somebody who can answer?
I've got the new XPS13 and wifi suddenly stopped working.
It was working fine for a few weeks, then I brought it home from work (was using wifi at work), then it stopped.
After a fresh boot, it'll see all wifi networks (both 2.4 and 5ghz), but it won't connect to ANY 2.4 network. Then suddenly it'll stop seeing 2.4 networks altogether.
It says "Can't Connect to This Network" when I try to connect.
I haven't been able to attempt connecting to a 5Ghz network yet.
I think this is contrary to most common issues of not being able to connect to 5ghz networks, but being ok with 2.4.
I've tried installing drivers from the manufacturer site and dell, no luck. Uninstalling the drivers from the control panel and having windows auto-install the base driver, no luck.
Though you'd probably know, I have the Boradcom 802.11ac Network Adapter in this.
Right now I'm using the laptop through a wired connection through the Dell D3100 dock, but obviously I need my wifi.

Apologies if this is in the wrong area. I'm currently struggling to build some Latitude E6330 laptops via SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 OSD . I'm getting a BSOD with error code 0000007E after the drivers are applied and the laptop reboots.
I've built nearly 100 OptiPlex desktops without issue from the same server. I've tried both the A09 and A10 E6330 driver CABs, and both have the same issue. I was having an issue even building the boot image with these drivers, but removed a faulty driver before importing them into SCCM (Conexant USB Modem driver) which resolved that issue. I'm assuming that the removal of this driver wouldn't be causing the BSOD - so I'm currently trying to find a replacement driver to see if that resolves it anyway.
I've tried using 'Auto Apply Drivers' and 'Apply Driver Package' in the task sequence, using a WMI query and also without a WMI query to no avail. I've blown away all previous drivers, imported only the A09 and then blew away + imported only the A10 drivers, rebuilt the driver packages and re-added to the boot image numerous times. Yep I've been distributing/updating distribution points each time too :)
Unfortunately I can't get onto the laptop to check the smsts/setupact/etc etc logs because it blue screens even in safe mode.
My last resort will be to add just the network+HDD drivers, and then slowly add drivers until I figure out what driver is causing the BSOD. Unfortunately this would be quite a lengthy procedure, so I'm hoping that someone has had a similar problem and may know which driver could be causing me this grief.. Or perhaps could point me in a different direction as to what may be causing this issue....

I am trying to create a program to log if a laptop is attached to the PR30X. However, the DockingState value in the registry stays at 1 whether the laptop is docked or undocked. I also checked gwmi win32_systemenclosure | check chassis and it stays at a value of 9. I was advised to download drivers or contact dell about other steps to take to register this. I have also been unable to find any drivers for the PR30X.
The laptop keyboard stopped working on my Inspiron 15 (3000 Series). I tried rebooting, took the battery out, nothing got it going. The touchscreen keyboard still works, which allows me to log in and still use it, but I need the real keyboard to work again. Windows 8
I have a Brand new inspiron 7548 WIN8.1 with a recommended dell rj45 to usb3.0 ethernet adapter
Immediately and straight out of the box there seems to be an issue with the network adapter constantly disconnecting and reconnecting .
The network adapter functions ok in the USB 2.0 Port , plug it into USB 3 port and the adapter behaves badly by disconnecting.
There are 2x USB3 on my pc and 1x USB2 . I tested all 3 ports , the USB2 is stable but both the USB3 are not so the problem lies with the USB3 side of things
Turns out after a lot of research that the potential fault lies with the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver . Intel made drivers for this but only for windows 7, for Windows 8 these Intel drivers are not compatible, Microsoft makes the 8.1 drivers and there is an issue . This is affecting a lot of people out there.
My reason for posting on here is that I am hoping for a sensible way to resolve this problem, currently dell technical support are not listening to what i say , even after many emails phone conversations and remote sessions , I do not seem to deal with one person , each time I get in touch with a tech support guy who promises me he is taking control of the situation only to have yet another tech guy send me yet another usb3 to rj45 adapter .. so far I have 3 further adapters so 4 in total , I don't want any more of these adapters !!
Further to this , I have deselected the power management feature in the device manager for the adapter(s) .. no change
i have also purchased a 3rd part adapter which also has the same Realtek USB GBE Family controller chipset as the dell adapter. Same issue
Dell did send me an updated driver for the Realtek USB GBE Family controller on 2 separate occasions , once updated and tested .. no change
Is there anything that can be done ? wifi is not an option
I work in IT for a medium sized engineering firm and we recently purchased a few M3800 laptops. We noticed that when holding the laptop in your lap at a slight angle that the left click can sometimes stick or not work. Like there is nothing pushing the pad back up. Like imagine if you were to remove the metal bar behind the space bar and you were to press it and it didn't pop back up. This is happening with all of our M3800 laptops. Is there anyone else having this issue??
So basically two finger scrolling is beautiful and smooth on internet explorer, but very laggy and poor in Chrome and Firefox. It is the only thing that kept me from using Chrome, but the lack of extensions on IE is getting to me. Anybody know a fix or workaround?
I ordered this beautiful laptop via Amazon, from their advertised picture of a purple laptop yet, when it arrived, the colour was/is exactly as I photographed here, more magenta. I know this may seem a trivial matter, yet my Heart was/is set on a purple laptop, the purple advertised.
Has anyone else had the same experience?
The cute carry bag arrived in exactly the colour it had been advertised {in fact, the purple in the bag, is the same colour in the advertised image of the laptop} ~ my intention was to colour co-ordinate :)

My laptop recently stopped working and it appears that I can hear some parts moving around inside. I'm hesitant to open it up and don't want to break anything.
Any suggestions? Should I open it up to see if something got disconnected?

Hi, my 14z 5423 when restarting is stuck on the dell splash screen. i've been through numerous posts on this forum for the basic trouble shooting. holding FN during power up does nothing. if i tap F2 or F12 during power up, the F2 setup or the F12 boot options becomes highlighted, but i cannot select those options.
I have also taken the laptop apart far enough to verify all the cables are connected (keyboard, etc) and that the HDD is seated.
the HDD light during power up, lights solid, then blinks twice, before freezing on the dell splash screen. please help. thanks, jeff
