Inspiron 5520 touchpad
The hard drive on my Inspiron 5520 died, so I replaced it and, using the Windows DVD sent by Dell, I've installed Windows 8. However, my touchpad isn't working. I've tried installing new drivers to no avail. I've used the Dell diagnostics without luck. The touchpad does not appear in the Device Manager. I've searched this and other forums but haven't found anything the fixes the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Transcend Jetdrive in XPS13?
I have a 128gb Transcend Jetdrive from my Macbook Air that I would like to use in the SD Card slot in my XPS13. The card inserts into the slot fine but the OS doesn't seem to be finding the drive. I've tried a few drive utilities to no avail.
The Transcend website doesn't provide any information, aside from identifying these cards as "apple solutions". I do know the Macbook Air and Pro use different sized cards, so I'm wondering if the other version will work in the XPS.
Do you have any intel that you can share on this issue, or do I simply need to do something in the software?

Shut down problem
My lap is not getting fully shut down. The screen goes off but the light is still on in the power button. It remains on untill the battery drains. I need to press the power button for few seconds to turn off the lap completely. Is this a hardware problem.?

Not able to run games like Prince of Persia, Tom Raider.

I have installed following games on my Dell Inspiron 7537 Laptop :
1. Prince of Persia - Sands of Time
2. Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones
3. Prince of Persia - Warrior Within
4. Tom Raider - Legend
5. Tomb Raider - Underworld
Configuration of my Laptop is i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, 750M NVIDIA Graphics Card, Windows 8.1. Graphics Card Drivers along with other Device Drivers are up to date.
None of these games run on my laptop. No errors were reported during installation. But while launching the games they fail to run. Prince of Persia series gives gives "CPU Compatibility" error whereas "Tomb Raider" series gives "Direct3D" Graphics Setting error. I tried different settings but nothing worked. I tried to run using Windows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility. But that also didn't help.
All these games run smoothly without any problem on my another Laptop (Acer Aspire Timelinex 5830TG) which has following configuration :
i5, 3 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, NVIDIA Optimus Graphics Card (1 GB), Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).
Please help me to find solution for the same.

i am using inspiron n 5010 , i5 4 gb RAM. 500 gb HDD n motherboard no, is K2WFF (with ATI graphics).
i got 8 beep problem on my system, as dell suggested i changed LCD , but still the same problem , they told me to change motherboard, but due to unavailability of motherboard i cant change and its a bit costly too,
i want to know that can i use motherboard with Intel graphics or without graphics ? my system will support. that.

according to technician i need to change motherboard , but unfortunately i am not getting K2WFF motherboard with ATI graphics, i want to know can i use other motherboard with intel graphics.

Wireless mouse doesn't work
My old wireless logitech mouse malfunctioned last week. I replaced it with a Microsoft and it didn't work. I now have a Targus and got message that driver successfully installed, but no cursor movement. All my USB ports work with other devices and I've run a Dell hardware check, everything passed. I even did a system restore and it didn't fix it. Have I inadvertently turned it off with a function key, although I did try that, too. I have an Inspiron 1545.

Inspiron N7110 locked in constant scroll.. letter 'i' automatically entered at any input line
Hey gang.... I can really use help and advice... My wife's Inspiron N7110 laptop seems to be locked in a constant input of the letter 'i'...... the keyboard and touchpad seem to be locked out and I cannot enter anything, I flashed BIOS, reset keyboard connection... even tried to clean keyboard on both sides.. mouse still works... Is there a fix or is this a replace keyboard and possibly touchpad or is it time to replace laptop?

Error Code 0146
When my computer started acting up while accessing and using search engines, The analysis on the F12 site at boot up that showed a 0146 error . I ran the MS Security Essentialsfor 12 hours (12) to find a virus named "Browser Modification: Win 32/Default Tab". It took 12 hours to do just the C drive. It took another 15 minutes for MS SE to remove it.
Now my computer works much smoother and quicker. I did a web search and came up with suggestions about the error 0146 that said the hard drive was screwed and needed to be replaced and other extreme solutions. Glad I tried the MS SE first.

Inspiron 17R SE 7720 shuts down instead of restarts
My laptop shuts down instead of restarting. I restart from windows and it goes to a black screen and then shuts completely down after about 20 seconds. When I use the shutdown command it just hangs at a blank screen forever and never shuts down (I have to hold the power button to get it to shut off). I’ve tried the restart command from the windows 7 I’ve been using regularly. Then from a fresh install on a completely different hard drive (removing the original one). Also from an Ubuntu live DVD and a live USB. Also from freeDOS (with no hard drives at all in the machine). The restart command from all of those just makes the laptop shut down.
I originally noticed this when i had the Nvidia 650M video card issues that this model is known for (en.community.dell.com/.../19498450). I tried updating my BIOS from windows (and freeDOS) but it wants to restart the machine to finish the process. But, the computer can’t restart properly so it can’t update the BIOS. I’m assuming this is a hardware issue (or BIOS) and definitely not a windows 7 issue. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there any way to flash the BIOS on startup? The computer works fine otherwise, other than missing the video card which is the whole reason I bought it in the first place. :(
I’m currently using BIOS version A11.

Charging XPS Ultrabook in desktop mode / Battery Life
Hi everybody,
I’m currently using my XPS Ultrabook as my main computer, that’s why I find myself charging it basically all the time. I charge it from 0% to 100% and the I disconnect de charger in order to improve battery life.
Lately, I found out that I could charge it in “Desktop mode” (I don’t know if this is the right name in English, I have my windows 8 in Spanish). Basically I was wondering if leaving the battery connected this way all the time, without unplugging it, was going to deteriorate my battery life.

My laptop won't start - Inspiron 17R SE (7720, Mid 2012)
I have been having problems turning on my laptop for months now. When the problems first started, most of the time it would start up normally. Then occasionally it wouldn't turn on when I pressed the power button. Then that became more frequent and it wouldn't come on at all. I looked for a solution online and found the take the battery out, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, replace the battery, press the power button and voila! That worked for a while but gradually there would be times that it wouldn't. Now, when I press the power button, I get a small clicking noise, the keyboard lights come on, the three buttons at the upper right of the keyboard come on, the lights on the front edge come on. But that's all it will do. After a while, it will put itself to sleep. If I hold the power button down to try to get it to reboot, it just goes to sleep. I have tried with the battery out, battery only. Leaving the battery out and unplugged for a couple of days to completely discharge, but nothing works.
Can someone please give me some advice?

Windows 8.1 x64 installation on Inspiron 7000 series
I received an Inspiron Ultrabook 7000 series as a gift brought from Mexico. It had a Single Language version of Windows 8 so I tried to install Windows 8.1 in English.
The installation went apparently well (from USB) but after copying file the laptop reboots and all I get is the blue window splash screen. I've given it well over 60 minutes and nothing happen.
Any suggestions?

UBS3.0 in U2415 FREZZE STARTING WINDOWS FROM MY XPS L501X
I have a DELL XPS L501X 184-640-753-17 and recently bought a MONITOR DELL U2415 with UBS 3.0 PORTS.
I have to unplug the UBS port of my laptop each time I start the machine if not windows frezze . When the Laptop is running I plug the USB 3.0 of the monitor and everything runs well.
I have updated all the drivers, I don't know what else could I do to fix this

Noise when accessing hard drive
I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720. For the past several months, I have a metal grinding noise coming from around the hard drive. I thought it was the drive, so I bought another one, cloned it, and began using it. The problem continued and now even crashes the computer, sometimes leaving me at the blue screen of death. I've done all the Windows updates (running Win 7 pro) and driver updates; did not fix it. I suspect it's a hardware problem, maybe the mainboard?
Does anybody know what this is and how to fix it?
