Hello!  So I have a prevalent issue I have been trying to fix for some time with my Dell laptop but I could never fix it.  Reason being I'm out of possible solutions and not to mention time is limited for me as a student. 

Anyways, in the beginning my laptop would not boot up at all.  It rang 4 beeps (which I understand is a RAM error).  I managed to fix that, by simply taking out on RAM stick after finding that the root of the issue was a single faulty RAM slot.  After finally managing to boot up the computer everything worked fine until I closed the lid to put it into sleep.  For some odd reason when I would go to close the lid, the computer LED indicator would still glow bright white, and the fans continued to "burr" :p, giving a good indicator that the computer remained on, but when I lifted the lid, there is nothing but a blank screen (display gave no feedback; display remained off). 

I could not do anything.  Power indicator was on and everything, but the display was off.  HHD activity indicator was also black.  No feedback from the HHD after the laptop goes into that "odd state". So I just left it on overnight (that or hard rebooting). 

When I woke up the computer was off (since the battery drained), and when I put in the charger the computer automatically started up (which if I am right does not happen tranditionally; again if Im right you would have to manually click the power button after putting in the charger).

The computer boots fine and shutsdown fine.  Its just, it remains unusable if the lid is closed or put into sleep mode through windows. 

UPDATE : So now when I try to shutdown this issue occurs then too.  And only that but when I revisited the BIOS and exited the computer took 10 sec + to close and reboot the computer.  Strange. 

P.S. : I have restored the OS 2 times already.

IF IT HELPS IN ANYWAY : lol I may have been messing with the BIOS while trying the diagnose the 4 beep issue earlier I am pretty sure I did not make any major changes (plus i reset the settings to default shortly afterwards).  And my mobo is flashed with the latest BIOS (checked last month).

Hi,

I want to disable/delete the 8GB hibernation partition and add the 8GB of space to the cache partition on my mSATA drive. I don't use hibernate so it's being wasted.

So... how do I disable/delete this 8GB partition and add that 8GB of space to the cache partition so that my machine is able to use the full mSATA drive for caching only?

My machine is the Inspiron 15R SE (7520).

I only have one graphics card, Intel HD Graphics 4400. Is it possible to upgrade this card; or better yet, add another graphics card for better performance?

Hello, recently my laptop's screen recently got busted.  It is a Inspiron 15 (M5030, Mid 2010) laptop, Service Tag 1FCYHP1, express service tag  3105539605.  My screen is crack and does not work. I keep trying to access tech support for it but I do not like calling(I don't like machines and navigating menus on phones) and that is all it tells me. The warranty is expired and I just want to know how much would it take to get it fixed.   Does anyone know

Hi

I just bought an genuine Dell W476P battery slice for my XFR E6400, but when I plug it into the media bay, and screw in the four screws and turn it on, I got a blinking battery symbol, alternating from blue to orange and so on. I checked my BIOS, and there it says Communication Error, and I could see that my laptop does not recognize my secondary battery. Anyone else experienced this before, and do any of you have any solution? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Note: I am not VERY good at the technical stuff, but with some guidance it should be okay :)

My Inspiron 11 - 3147 is frozen on the Dell logo on startup. I've used F2 to get into the BIOS settings, navigated to Advanced settings, and I found that the laptop is already in "AHCI" mode. What do I do?

ok this is really odd, I was paying for an online purchase and placed my bank card to the right of the touchpad, and the laptop made a musical type noise. it does this every time I place my card in that spot.

Why is this happening? Can anybody tell me?

Hi!

I need a little help again and thank you all in advance for your replies!  I have an issue that I need a fix for fast as it depends on time and I have about a day to get it fixed.

I have an AMD HP Pavilion g62 laptop w/ a bad mobo and I need to order a new one.  However, it will take to long to order one in time, so I had a plan but there's a slight error.  

My client can take a Dell D620 that I have with them while I work on her hp, so I was just going to transfer the HDD from the hp to the D620 so that she could keep all her files for the time being.  However, obviously the Dell has an Intel Celeron and the HP had an AMD.  So it BSODs even in safe mode.  Is there a way to work around that so that I can boot the HP's hdd into the Dell?

I have a Dell Inspiron 5521 with the following specifications-

1. Windows 8.1 single language (upgraded from windows 8 via the Windows store)

2. Intel core i7 3537U CPU

3. x64 based PC with 8 GB RAM

4. Intel HD Graphics 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 8500M 2GB Dedicated graphics

Since recently the laptop has been running very slow and even games like The Walking Dead which require 512MB RAM are not working. Also, the lag/slow system started after I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 via the Windows Store.

I have tried the following to resolve this issue-

1. Running Diagnostics at startup (pressing F12 on system startup); all tests passed

2. Installing a new AMD Radeon Driver from their website

3. Defragmented disc, ran a system check for viruses

I still can't make the laptop work faster.

I would appreciate any suggestions in resolving this issue.

My laptop doesn't start ,when i press power button , no Dell logo appears and there is exactly four(4) beep sound comes from  laptop and black screen remain as it is.

My Laptop model is Dell Inspiron N5010 with 4GB RAM and 500GB Harddisk.

I've read your Beep Code Overview, but how can i know what exactly is happened with it?

I've also had problem in my laptop's hard disk, previously , bad sectors have been detected in it but it worked well till now. Don't know why sudden crash appears in it

So, kindly help me out with this.

My pc is currently randomly crashing which is either a blue screen saying "Windows ran into a  problem restarting" Or it just goes black. When both of these happen its followed by "Checking media" then it loads and says "Checking media failed", Ran a diagnostic and everything was working fine except for it says there is no hard drive. Help please D:

Hello. I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows 7 on my Dell XPS L50X2. I installed the Dell Quickset Driver and tried to turn on my keyboard backlight but nothing happened. I'm pretty sure that the keyboard backlight worked before reformatting my laptop. I heard there was a certain driver install order you had to follow but I can't find the article which has it. Can someone help please?

I have a dell inspirion 15 5000 series and it was working just fine a little bit ago hoeing no signs of a problem. However, now when I reopened it the laptop will not power on (no sounds of it even trying no fans no beeps no hard drive power up) the only indication I have is when I plug it into the ac adaptator the power led white light will flash once then go solid. I have tried draining the battery still nothing an no indications aside from the single led. I can not remove the battery as it seems to be built internally. I would appreciate help with this matter and suggestions to try.

I have been trying to buy a Dell Precision M4800 Laptop from the Dell website since 3 March without much success. A salesman takes the order, it sits in pre production for a week and then the manufacturing department kills the order. First time there was something wrong with the lid. Have no idea what that was about. But customer service handed me off to a new salesman who claimed it was correct this time and would be built. After another week in pre production the order was killed again. This time without my knowledge or consent a new configuration was made and now it may be delivered in April.

Fine, but the configuration is not acceptable because it has a DVD ROM and not a DVD RW. Customer service says they will send me a DVD RW and I can open the case and replace it myself.

I would like to tell Michael Dell what I think about his customer service but have not been able to get past tier 1 help.

Very disappointed and tired of this process.

screen went fuzzy crashed, then 4 beeps, next day booted then crashed with BSOD. Unseated and seated memory.  Won't  boot anymore. Out of ideas.
