1 Beep Sound and Unable to Start Up
Hi,
I'm using a Alienware M14x and I actually use them very rarely but now I encounter a problem that stops me from starting up.
single beep sound when i press the power button and I'm unable to do anything.
there was a few occasion which I am able to start up and I've done all the hardware test and nothing seems to be the problem.
I even tried the test during start up with FN+Power button and there was no error.
Someone please let me know what I can do.
I even removed the batt and then drained all the remaining power and plug back to start.

Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 BIOS flash failure
Hi,
Am an owner of Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 laptop with core i5 1.7GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB SSD and 500GB HDD storage.
Last night on Dell drivers support, I downloaded upgrades and updates for all drivers in my laptop including the BIOS update found on their support site.
I closed all programs before starting the BIOS update. Upon its launch, it shut down the laptop, leaving charging and power on LED indicators on, for an hour. It never rebooted for the three hours I left it. So I tried to reset it using the reset button in the bottom base of the laptop. It didn't help either.
Is there anyway to fix this? Seems like it needs reprogramming of which am just an end and novice user

HELP with drivers
Ok, I used to support laptop and desktop installs, fixes, etc. but it's probably been close to 10 years since I've done this and I know that I am VERY rusty. However, I know that I will understand if someone could PLEASE direct me.
I recently reloaded my (old) laptop (XPS 17 (L702X, Early 2011)). I guess I didn't install the drivers correctly nor am I even sure I installed the correct ones. :-( Of course I cannot get help from Dell unless I pay now (since I'm out of warranty). I recently purchased a new desktop but still want to have use of this laptop . . . . until it dies! ;-) :-D
Sooooo, can someone help me out PLEASE.
1) Do I need to reload my computer from scratch to reinstall the drivers in the correct order (http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/268873/en?c=us&s=gen&cs=&l=en) or can I just uninstall all the drivers and reinstall (probably a stupid question, I'm sure).
2) MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION . . . when I go to the download drivers sight, I'm confused as to which drivers are compatible for my system. IE, I put in my model and there are several choices for Chipset, Audio, Network, etc.
I tried to "Run a quick test for common hardware problems." but I keep getting the error:
"We are unable to recognize the service tag detected through our scan. Please rerun the scan or contact the technical support for further assistance."
I would really appreciate any insight as soon as someone willing to help me can. I use this for school and spring break will be over soon ;-)

Updates - necessary?
My Inspiron 6400 has had a complete clear-out and when I checked for updates now there were around 180. I let it install them but now it's running far more slowly. Do I need all these updates? Is there a way to clarify which are important and which can be uninstalled? Or should I just uninstall them all?

Inspiron 15 3537 - upgrade wireless card
This laptop came with a Dell Wireless 1705, b/g/n + bluetooth 4.0.
I don't use the bluetooth at all, but due to high signal utilization in my area, I was looking at only running 5ghz, hence looking at replacing the card.
Do the antennas in this laptop support 5ghz? If so, can someone suggest a card to replace it with? Even Intel cards sell for under $30, hence this would be a cheap upgrade.

Dell Latitude C400 boot issues
Yep, I know this laptop is old as Methuselah, but I hope someone here can help!
I use this laptop only rarely for a diagnostic program for my motorbike. As such, I haven't used it in over 2 years.
I tried to start it, and it went to blank screen with a cursor prompt. Okay, I look to see what could cause this. I open it up, remove and re-seat the RAM. Check BIOS battery... it has possibly leaked. I buy a new one.
Got the new battery today, installed and rebuilt and huzzah! It starts up. I go into BIOS and change the date, check boot-up medium, restart.
Okay, the problem: If I start up on battery, the laptop hangs while loading WIndows XP. I can start in safe mode but this doesn't allow me to use the diagnostic program. The battery also dies after maybe 5 minutes.
If I try to start the laptop with the power cord plugged into the brick, battery in or not, it does the same blank screen with cursor prompt.
I am pretty sure I need a new/refurbished battery, but wanted to check here before I go ahead and buy one. Any help that can be offered is massively appreciated!

USB Number Pad recommendation for Inspiron 15" 7548
Hello all,
I recently purchased an Inspiron 15" 7548 and notinced it does not come with a number pad. My question is , is there any number pad in particular that will fit well with this model?
Also, i'm not sure how the number pads work, do they just hang on the side when plugged into the USB? Do they make them so they become like an attachment so it doesn't just hang around?

login issues on 8.1
I have a Dell 2 in 1 3147. Having login issues where after putting in my pin number the screen just goes to my user icon with only the power button, ease of access and connect to network buttons visible. Nothing works beyond selecting the user icon and logging in again only to have the same thing happen. Can't swipe the screen either. any suggestions?

Drivers - Windows 8 vs 8.1
We have some Latitude E5420s but Dell only lists Windows 8 as a supported OS. It doesn't list Windows 8.1. Is there any reason that drivers for 8 won't work on 8.1?
Our standard company image is Windows 8.1 and we'd like to put that on these laptops but want to make sure they'll work fine before we take the time to try it.
Has anyone put 8.1 on an E5420 before to know if it will work fine? I could just let Windows install the drivers and then manually try the rest or I could use the Windows 8 cab file and see what happens.

Inspiron 15z 5523 Hard drive specifications
Hello,
I own a Dell Inspiron 15z 5523, which recently stopped working properly. After I turn it on, the OS (Windows 8.1) won't load, instead the following message appears "Internal hard disk drive not found. To resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive". The only options I'm left with is trying to boot again, or performing an ePSA diagnostics routine, which is what I did, and got this result: "Error 2000:0151", which according to Dell's Tech Support indicates a hard drive failure, solved by replacing the hard drive. Sadly, my warranty expired about 3 months ago, so I plan to buy the replacement hard drive and have it installed by a technician; of course I'll only buy a new hard drive after reseating the original and checking if it solves the problem. Here's my doubt: what are the specifications of the original hard drive?
I've checked Dell's website and managed to get a part number and description:
W2N02 HARD DRIVE, 500, S2, 5.4K, 512E, 7, YRA
So it's a 500GB hard drive, 5400 rpm, and I'm guessing S2 stands for SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) and 7 stands for 7 mm. What about the cache? Is it 32MB or 64MB. It doesn't mention if it's hybrid or not, and if so, what's the size of SSD portion?

The Laptop has a SD card reade onlyr.
The pictures also only show an SD Card Reader.

Inspiron 17R 5721 replaced HD now driver is locked....
My HD failed and I replaced the HD in my Inspiron 17R 5721 - now I get the message that the driver is locked.
When trying to reboot from the USB reboot I created last summer this is what I get:
when I try to
'reset PC' I get 'unable to reset/a required drive partition was missing.
'Refresh' I get 'drive where windows is installed is locked.Unlock and retry again.'
Can you please tell me what to do now? I just replaced the power source and the battery so they are new as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
