Has anyone out there found a touch pad driver that works besides the standard driver that is in windows 8.1? The driver install on the support page DOES NOT work. Says it's for Alienware 13 with windows 8.1....but the control panel to adjust the touch pad settings crashes. Starting to wonder if it was tested before release.

Has anyone got the touchpad in their 2015 Dell XPS 13 to WORK?
I just sold my MacBook Pro and am really regretting buying this. I've spent hours combing the Internet trying to find a fix. I just cannot work with this laptop.
I'm experiencing the problems as everyone is with the touchpad. The most annoying of which is that 60% of the time when right-click, the cursor goes flying across the screen and makes a short or performs a random operation. I cannot even copy and paste half the time.
Is Dell EVER going to make proper drivers available? This is not acceptable at all. I check the driver section and there is no driver for the touchpad. For a while Dell had posted a .cab file with all drivers then today that has been taken down.
What is going on here? IS there even a driver in beta or alpha release we can try? Anything is better than this? Please give us an update on the status. If I don't get a proper driver for the trackpad, I'll need to return this ASAP and just get something else.
The current driver has serious issues on any gesture where more than one finger touches the track pad.

Checking media [Fail] - Dell Inspiron 3521
Hello , this is my first time writing here.
My problem is : I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 , some days ago my laptop dropped on the floor and i heard a weird noise coming from the hdd . My laptop closed and i kept hearing this weird noise everytime i was trying to boot and eventually the only thing i was getting on screen was Checking media [Fail] and then No bootable device could be found . I understood that this was the end for this hdd so i ordered another one online . After 4-5 days i got it and now everytime i am trying to boot i get this error even with the new hdd .
I was checking for similar questions like this on several forums and most people solved this by going to the BIOS -> Boot -> UEFI Boot -> and choosing Windows Boot Manager to be on top . The problem is i don't have such an option . I only get UEFI Onboard LAN IPv4 and UEFI Onboard LAN IPv6 . I don't know what else to do . Btw here are some of the options i have selected on the BIOS screen (all of them are the defaults actually) :

Can't able install windows 8 setup in my Dell vostro 1550.

I am Saurabh from India . I have some issue in my laptop Dell VOSTRO 1550.
Two days before , from window 7 , i have installed windows 8 in my laptop by booting with my Pendrive. and that time i have also installed office 2013 in it . but it created some problems due to which my laptop started lacking.
Then i have to re-install the window, so i did it . and this time i wanted to install office 2007 but some problems occurs and installation process of office 2007 suddenly stopped.
so, i just press power button long and shut it down.
But after that i don't know what problem may occurs so that neither i am able to open the windows 8 nor able to re-install it.
But when i open my laptop it show a message "windows ran into problem" .
and suddenly goes to "Preparing automatic repair" then goes to black screen for long. and finally result will be nothing.
Now what i have to do because neither i am able to change my windows nor i am able to open it.

DELL XPS 12 ULTRABOOK
My new DELL XPS 12 ULTRABOOK broke down due to hardware and not working after 15 month of purchase. It costs more than $ 770 to repair. Since this a new generation of laptops, and afraid it will break down again after repair I purchased another type laptop to continue my work. luckily I had files back up. I have repair quotation with me. I think due to this new generation of laptops we should get more than one year warranty, I got only one from Saudia Arabia JARIR BOOK STORE.Can you please help, your help will keep me as a customer, I spend thousands Dollars annually on purchasing similar electronics

LCD backlight (lamp) not working
I get a dell inspiron 15 3542 about 5 months ago in Pakistan . unfortunately its LCD Baklight has stop working . LCD is working fine. Laptop is still in warranty . Can anyone help me to resolve this problem when dell support website is recognizing my service tag for Pakistan . I have the only option of live chat with agent . I am failed to get any contact number . But whenever I enter my service tag at the chat time it do not recognize my service tag as follow . I am sure that my service tag is registered for Pakistan .

slow and freezes
I have have this computer since septemeber.. Bought it from Staples It loads pages very slowly and lately has been freezing,
Can I return for for a normal laptop?
I ran the diagnosis and nothing happened and now Dell is trying to sell me another program from Iolo instead of helping me fix the problem with their product.
Also there is what looks like a defective pixel...small white spot in screen.

DELL laptops and Linux
So I was actually quite excited about finally getting a new work laptop and I got offered a Latitude E7440, not new but new to me ;)
However after reading on these forums that multiple Dell users have problems with "double keys" and other things I'm scared of buying a Dell, since I use Linux.
Can anyone in here tell me if all Dell laptops have these problems? I was really looking forward to get a laptop with IPS and trackpoint to replace my old Thinkpad T60.

I have a dell that has bios boot logo other than dell . I want to get rid of it want my own or dell default logo there . I have changed my windows boot logo but failed to change that one of bios . I have read a procedure on internet but it is very difficult and risk . can anyone tell me some easy way .????[*-)]

Inspiron N5110 Beeping and Black Screen
A friend is having me look at his Inspiron N5110. It had random shutdown issues, and after I started investigating it started to have issues with not turning on. The most common issue was a black screen and three beeps on boot. I pulled the CMOS battery and it didn't help. Same issue. So I bought a motherboard off eBay and installed it in the laptop. I transferred the CPU from the old one onto the new one, and now when I put it all back together, same issue! It still beeps 3 times on boot and has a black screen. I've tried pulling the CMOS battery and RAM again, and it still doesn't work. Also tried putting the new CPU in the new motherboard and still the same problem. Is there anything else I can try? Did I get a second bad board? The seller said it was tested and guaranteed working.

L501x touchpad tap to click stopped working after windows 7 updates
Hi,
After recent windows 7 updates, my touchpad tap to click and left button stopped working. I've tried to rollback I've tried to restore to previous restore point and then it all started working but not lasted not more than a week. After several auto windows updates the problem re-appeared and this time I lost the restore point that was worked.
So I understand the only option is to update touchpad drivers (R277335.exe) from the following link:
That did not help and also ensured to upgrade BIOS for L501x and all chipset driver but no joy.
As a workaround, I could disable touchpad buttons in Synpatics touch settings to enable tap to click. as buttons disabled moving application windows becoming very difficult.
I also tried to installing latest generic drivers from Synaptics with no luck.
I love my L501x and I want your assistance to fix this issue please help me !!!

I took out the two RAM chips out of the laptop and kinda forgot which one goes first and which one goes second. It has DIM A and DIM B both on the same sticker. Really confused, or is that i can put any chip in any slot.

Question about Dell Inspiron 9300 Power Supply.

I have a 2005 Dell Inspiron 9300. I am having problems with getting the battery to charge and want to know if it is indeed the battery or the charger itself.
I am using a Dell AC Adapter the input is AC 100-240V ~1.5A Output DC 19.5V =4.62A
I was told that this adapter will work with my laptop. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit and in Windows when i highlight my mouse cursor over the battery icon, it does say plugged in, charging. The green battery with the lighting bolt also is on as well. But after leaving the charger plugged in it's still at 0%.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

laptop problems
my laptop is not working , so I called for assistance somebody answered in India. I told the person (girl) what was wrong with it, she put me on hold and a few minutes later she tells me that will take 2 days to get an answer from their technician, next day I get an email saying that the laptop needs a hard drive and I have to wait 5 days for it. Well the five days are up ,I got another email saying I have to keep waiting because they still don`t have the part needed. well this is ridiculous I would like to know what is going on with Dell!

How to get clean and green Win8 install on Dell Inspiron 15
Hey everyone. Just purchased an Inspiron 15, 7000 series, i7 laptop. This is a little muddy so please be gentle :) I purchased Window 8.1 Full from Newegg to use on an old MacBook Pro. Didn't work out too well. So I got the Dell.
1. I really HATE all the bloatware and want to do a fresh install.
2. I want the fresh install on a newly purchased 256 SSD drive. The swap of the drives was easy enough.
3. I have NOT even activated Windows 8 on the original Dell drive. Never let it get that far.
4. I have activated Windows 8 on the key that I got from Newegg for my MBP, but since wiped out the drive and sold the old MBP.
5. Created a bootable USB thumb drive to attempt to use the license I bought from Newegg.
6. Cannot get the Dell to read the USB drive even though I went in BIOS to change Boot Priority but I might have missed a setting?? This may not be possible?
What are my best possible options/and how to get a clean and green install of Win8 on the new 256 SSD? I can live with losing the Newegg provided license if I have to. I just want a clean and green on the SSD.

Inspiron 15 laptop, some keys don't respond first time
A few keys such as ~ " ^ don't respond unless pressed twice and then the character appears twice so I have to backspace to remove one. Also, if I press for example ~ or ^ once and then press another key such as k or j, the ~k, ~j ^j,^k displays. I have tried a USB keyboard and the same thing happens. The laptop is 5 months old and has done it since new. The rest of the keys work normally, only these few symbol keys are weird. I had hoped some updates recently might have solved it but not yet.
Any suggestions short of taking it back under warranty?

Inspiron 15z "Battery disabled"
I have had my laptop for 2+ years.
I was studying on it one night and I suddenly got an error message saying the battery had been disabled. Before I could read the rest of the message, the screen went black and the laptop turned off.
I have not been able to turn in on for a week, despite having in plugged in for several day.
Has anyone else had this problem? Please help!
