Battery Not Detected Dell XPS 13 Laptop

Hi,

I have recently bought an XPS 13 laptop running Windows 7 Professional. The device is working well, but there is a red cross over the battery icon in the bottom right corner of the screen on windows. When I hover the mouse over it I get the message "no battery detected".

In device manager there are icons for "Microsoft AC adapter", "Microsoft ACPI_compliant Control Method Battery" and "Microsoft Composite Battery". So the battery itself seems to be detected by the system (I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery components, but it has no effect).

The battery itself seems to be working fine and must be charging OK (as the system has been working fine for the last 2 weeks I have had it).

The reason I would like to get this sorted is that I currently can't see what the battery charge is so won't know if I am getting close to shutdown when it is not plugged into the adaptor.

Thanks

mike

XPS 13 Motherboard Replacement (bad experience)

My Dell XPS 13 Laptop's motherboard died 3 months after the end of the extended warranty period. I had Dell replace the motherboard out of warranty and 6 months later I'm having the exact same issue, the computer sometimes will not power up and when it does it shuts down suddenly on its own or the mouse will not work.

I contacted customer support and after being on hold for nearly an hour. I was hung up on while trying to explain my issue. When I called back and spoke to a supervisor he informed me that the previous repair work was only guaranteed for 3 months and replacing the motherboard would be at my expense.

This is unacceptable. I fully understand what a warranty is, but my expectation is that Dell builds quality products. I've owned this laptop for two years and it is one of their higher end machines and it should last longer than it has and their parts should have better build quality.

I'm considering writing the ***, because I'm beyond frustrated!

Hello

at booting, computeur prompts the following message

battery critically low

press F1 to continue or F2 to enter setup

I've tried with a new power supply and a new battery, and i've formated the computer, the problem remains

I've tried uninstalling the AHCI battery driver in the device manager but i can't seem to get rid of the problem. The dell diagnosis utility wasn't much help since it diagnosed that the new battery was critically low and had to be changed

at this point I'm open to any suggestion

the new battery help without supply for 2H running youtube with sound, but doesn't seem to be able to charge now.

E7250 will not PXE Boot with SCCM 2012 R2

Just received our new version Dell laptop the E7250.  We are using SCCM 2012 R2 OSD to build our computers.  We currently have 6 Dell computers (2 desktops 7010 and 790 and 4 laptops 6410, 6420, 6430 and 5440) that are using the same WIM file.  Never had a problem with the network drivers until now with the E7250.  It loads the WIM file but as soon as it says "preparing network connection" it fails.  I hit F8 and try an IPCONFIG and I don;t see an IP address.  So I'm thinking Network Driver issue, so I add the network driver to the Boot image and still can't get past "Preparing Network Connections".  Any ideas?

Thanks

Just purchased a new Alienware 14 and it has issues with the start button. I had it for about 6 weeks and have contacted tech support but they have been little help.

It will start after a few attempts with the power supply not plugged in and nothing when it is on power.

This is one expensive laptop and it looks like I am going to have to return it back to dell.

What a disappointment.

Please Help,

Windows 7 wont boot past dell screen,
if hit F2 or F12, shows preparing to enter setup, but never goes past that point.

Boots to boot setup if HD is disconnected, then if boot sequence changed to CD and try to boot from Win7 CD, works. But cannot do a start up repair since hard drive is disconnected.
Tried connecting back HD, stil does not go past dell screen.

Also tried updating BIOS to 3460_A13 or 3460A19. neither worked.

Please help.

This is what my screen said when I turn it on. I am not a computer genius like most of you are. I can only do the basic stuff like: searching internet and checking emails and play games. Now someone got on my laptop and did something to it now I cannot get access to my laptop because of this:

Dell Computer Corporation

Hard- disk #P0DT522KHS3-A95B, the system Primary HDD, is protected by password authentication system. You cannot access data on this hard drive without the correct password. Please type in the hard-drive password and press <Enter>.

I need help to get access to my hard-drive....

Inspiron Shutdown Problem

Having a problem with my Inspiron 3721 (win 7) Laptop shutting down arbitrarily. Will be working on a variety of applications or online and the machine just shuts down. No warning. Just power off.

Hit the power button and it starts as if nothing happened. Then it might happen again a half hour later or 2 weeks later. There are no messages in the windows error logs that indicate any issue.

Anyone else having this issue or does anyone have any thoughts as to what is the problem?

Thanks in advance for any input.

XPS L702X - Hard Drive Error 2000-0142

Several days ago, I went to use my laptop, and it was being very, very slow. I restarted and was told Windows Update was going to run 25 updates. After about 4 hours, it was still saying "Updating 5 of 25", so I did the forsaken, and hard-powered it off.

Since then, when it starts up, I get the black screen telling me to run Windows Startup Repair or start normally. If I start normally, I just get the default blue/green Windows background with a large arrow cursor. It just sits that way for hours. If I select Windows Startup Repair, the repair window opens, but it just keeps running - I let it run for 48 hours.

I tried restoring the computer to the factory image, but it just hangs up with that, too.

I have gone to the boot menu (F12) and selected Diagnostics. I get Hard Drive Error 2000-0142. Upon searching for this error code on the internet, the response can be varied -- sometimes you need a new hard drive, but sometimes it is resolved by formatting the hard drive.

When i got the laptop, I did create recovery disks (did not come with a Windows CD). However, they don't seem to do anything for me. When I put them in the drive and try to boot from them, nothing happens. Am I supposed to be able to use those to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows?

My main question is, should I just order a new hard drive or is possible the formatting and reinstalling Windows might fix the problem? If so, how can I do that using my recovery disks?

Thank you!  -Kristi

Error codes, checking media fail, frozen dell logo

So today i turned my laptop  and it wouldn't load past the dell logo. Ive been trying all day to get my laptop to work with no luck. I've gotten blue screen recovery page, blue screen error code pages with shown files of werkernel.sys and \EF\microsoft\BCD and checking media fail pages. I haven't had any problems before and it was working just fine as of 1am when I shut it down.

Alienware phantom context menu

I just got an Alienware 17R2 (Early 2015) laptop, and I keep getting phantom context menus. Whenever I click on the start menu or show the desktop or sometimes in web browsers, I get a phantom context menu. Typically whenever I put the cursor in a text field, but sometimes (as the case of the desktop), it just pops up.

It's been doing it since the first time I logged in, and I have updated the drivers and such. I ran the autopsy program and it didn't find any issues. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If any dell people are reading this, will I actually be charged if I call in for a warranty on this? I tried chatting with tech support but it said it's not available on my device, and that I would have to call in for fee-based tech support. But this is clearly a warranty issue, as I am more protective of my laptop that my first born son......

I have a Laptop Latitude E5540 that I dropped it on the floor. After that everything worked fine for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the keyboard started not working, I have to press really hard to type, but now there are some keys that wont even work. I installed an external keyboard and it works fine.

Here are my specs:

My laptop locks up if I try to open up Facebook.  It doesn't lock up on other sites.  I ran a full scan on my system, and it came up as zero problems.  I tried typing facebook.com manually as well as clicking on the link after entering Facebook in a search to bring up the site.  Can someone please help me to remedy this problem?  Thank you.
