I just bought a new Dell XPS 13 2015 and it is great, however, I am having small trackpad issues with certain apps. When using IE 11, scrolling with the trackpad is smooth, however, I do not want to use IE. When using both Chrome and Firefox, scrolling vertically is very staggering, laggy, and not smooth. I believe I have the most up to date drivers installed, as per the dell support system. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Dell N5110 begins to beep when gpu exceeds 80 degrees
Good Day Dell,
I am hoping you will be able to assist me. In the last two days, my laptop has begun beeping in a series of two sequential beeps as soon as the Nvidia GT525m exceeds a temperature of 80 degrees C.
As I am sure you are well aware, it is not uncommon for the GPU in this laptop to easily exceed this temperature, and has done so in the past on many occassions without any beeping noise being emitted from the speakers.
Please could you assist with advising as to why this has suddenly become an issue on my laptop as well as what steps I could take to resolve this.

P.S. All my drivers are 100% up to date and no new software was installed prior to the above issue arising.

Vostro 1710 won't start
Hi
The laptop is 6 yrs old and I've used only AC power supply for ages - batteries too expensive / waste of space.
For a few weeks the On/Off Power button was unresponsive irratic. If I removed then re-inserted the power supply, then usually it would work, but this became increasing.
Last week, once booted there was a repeated (very loud!) audible continuous alert with all functions not accessible. The only way to stop this massive noise was to hit Ctrl & Alt. I was shocked how loud this noise was.
Also at the same time, when booting was successful, I got a repeated audio alert like when you press/hold a key down and there's no space for the cursor to go to - like a continuous keystroke. In the Windows Start area, the search bar had the cursor squinting at the far right. This never stopped / timed out and I had to crash off to recover.
What I have done:
Removed, cleaned and checked the keyboard. All OK and the repeat-hit keystroke noise has stopped.
Removed, cleaned and checked cooling fan and guts, all clear and OK.
Removed and inspected Power-In cable, jack and slot-ribbon connector. Looked OK but couldn't tell if damaged or not.
Checked for voltage from the AC supply - all OK appeared to be delivering around 40V at the jack.
Checked the on/off button for functionality. Appears OK - the nipple underneath that hits the brass actuator didn't look very big - I wonder whether this is sufficient to activate the system or not, but there is an audible click-clack when depressed and I also pushed the brass button with my finger which didn't help.
I do not want to re-cycle my beloved Vostro, I wish to repair it. But I am stuck!

Dell Greek Keyboard
Just received my USB Dell Greek Keyboard to use on my Dell laptop running Windows 7. I already have English as my default language with Greek as a secondary, i.e. I can use the English laptop keyboard to input Greek characters.
Question is - my USB Greek keyboard has the Greek characters printed alongside the English characters - but how do I select to use the Greek characters? Have tried combinations of ALT, SHIFT etc

I just purchased dell inspiron 15 3543 which has ubuntu as factory os. I just reformat and installed windows 8.1 x64. But i noticed two drivers missing which are SM Bus controller and USB 2.0 cdrw driver. how can i solved this problem?

blank screen after the homepage appears
after a short while after starting my dell inspiron m5030 the screen turns dark blank..it sounds like the laptop is still running, there isn't any cursor on the screen, 3 lights are illuminated on the front panel(1 is the power light, 1 is the battery chargin but I don't know what the middle one is?)....ive tried many diagnosis(assuming its going to stay on long enough to do) and all at the tests have passed...ive done a factory reset but its still happening...occasionally the screen freezes on what I was doing before it turning blank....ive been told it might need a operating system re install but the laptop didn't come with any back up discs, I tried downloading from Microsoft but it wont recognise my key number..its difficult actually doing any tests or back ups etc as the laptop screen turns off before I can finish anything....any ideas? I would rather try and resolve this before spending lots of money on technicians

E6440 CPU Thermal Issues under stressed conditions
Hi to all,
I've a E6440 with i5-4300M and without GPU beside the internal Intel HD GPU.
My issues is that when I run compute intensive applications(ffmpeg video transcoding) the temperature rises to 80 C easily with a steady temp about 82-84C.
Well the real issues comes when I stress both my CPU and my GPU (with 3rd party stress utils), then the temp is about 90C +. Besides that with normal use my laptop is never above normal (60-68C).
I've searched over the Internet and in the following review the same laptop has also very high CPU tempratures (about 96C as they claim)!

My previous laptop E5420 was never above 75C!
Should I consider upgrading my CPU to a newer one? (I still have about 2 year of warranty)

Inspiron 15R N5110 Overheating
I have an Inspiron 15R N5110 laptop from 2011 Q1.
Recently I am facing the problem again that the laptop is overheating a lot. After startup the GPU is at 60 degrees Celsius, and as soon as I start a game(League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, all on the lowest possible settings), in a minute or two my GPU reaches 97-99 degrees Celsius and comes the performance drop.
Just while browsing it idles between 60-70 degrees.
This might still be acceptable(not for me tho) if the laptop would be laying on the table/bed and it would have problems getting air. BUT! I am using a 22 cm big laptop cooler pad from Thermaltake, with this I can hold the temperatures at the above mentioned values. Without the cooler the laptop just goes wild and shuts down after 5 minutes of gaming/video streaming due to overheating.
Now I am pretty sure this is not the optimal temperature. Previously I had to get a new cooling in the laptop, and after it got installed the laptop felt like it was new, no performance issues, no overheating. It kept itself around 40 degrees at startup and didn't go higher than 75-80 while gaming/watching movies, etc...
My question would be about if it is possible to get a new cooling system(meaning the fan and the heat sink for the cpu & gpu) from DELL. I was looking around the interwebz and of course I could order from Ebay, but I'd rather try to get a genuine part from Dell if possible.
Only problem is that my laptop no longer has warranty, so I would actually buy the cooler from dell, question is if this is possible to do so or not. If not what other options do I have other than buying a new laptop.
PS:Yes, I have cleaned the fan multiple times.

XPS L520X USB 3.0 ports not working following teardown and upgrade to 8.1
Hello,
I have an XPS 15 L520X bought 2011, running W7 pro 64 bit. Lately it started to slow down and overheat.
I opened it up as shown in this video:

I carried out the following changes:
- Reapplied thermal paste to CPU and GPU
- Dusted heatsinks and fan
- Replaced BIOS battery
- Installed brand new RAM
- Installed brand new SSD
- Updated BIOS to latest on Dell website (version A12)
- Installed W8.1 Pro 64 bit, and all drivers I could find from Dell/Intel/Nvidia websites.
At the moment the left and back USB 3.0 don't work at all.
I tried several host controller drivers, I tried unticking the power management disable, I tried taking the BIOS battery off. I have no unknown devices in device manager apart from the free fall sensor which I don't need anymore since I have an SSD. All USB related options in the bios are enabled, but if I try to boot from these ports via USB drive they are completely ignored, and it seems they are not at all powering at any point (connected to a multimeter)
Everything was working perfectly before and I'm quite sure I didn't break anything during disassembly.
Can anyone suggest further steps to diagnose/fix the problem?

ghosting on touch screen
Same problem here. New nifty touch screen computer that makes it much easier to switch from language keyboard to language keyboard. Then the screen started going crazy. I am completely computer dependent for work and am moving overseas soon, so don't really have time to mess with this. Trying to decide what best route is...

BATTERY IS NOT WORKING
I have a Dell inspiron 15R 5521. Today when I opened it, this message appeared : "Your battery has experienced permanent failure and needs to be replaced. I can open my laptop when ac is on but the red led of battery is blinking and the battery can not be charged. Also in bios i get the same message about battery. Is this really a permanent failure ? It's just 15 months old. What can I do ?

NVIDIA card became non-functional
It's been some time that I don't get the NVIDIA settings when I right-click for the dropdown menu on the desktop.
I now have gone to the control panel, and clicking on the NVIDIA Control Panel icon I get the following message:
'You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU.'
Is my NVIDIA card bust or has it become disabled?

XPS 13 2015 Wireless issues while USB device plugged in
When I have a device plugged into the USB port by the power button (right side) my wireless connection drops and will not reconnect until the USB device is unplugged. I do not experience the issue when using the other USB port.
Anyone else experience similar issues or have a way to resolve this?
