XPS M1530 power issue?
Was given this laptop by a client to take a look at. Previous battery showed it was dead, so did the battery health indicator. So I bought a new battery, did the power drain cycle on the laptop, then installed the battery. Here's where it gets tricky. The battery came 70% charged & in good health shown in bios, but doesn't seem to charge beyond 80%. Normally I'd just drain the battery do another power cycle on the laptop then recharge. However the laptop ONLY WORKS on A.C.! If I take out the A.C. cord it shuts off. Any ideas add to the problem?

Importing/installing Hardware Shortcuts
Hi everyone.
I 'm buying a Dell M4600 without a backlit keyboard, unfortunately. They do make them in this model, obviously, and I want to purchase the backlit keyboard separately.
On the models WITH the keyboard, the Fn + R Arrow key has the function of toggling off or between 4 levels of brightness with the backlite, how could I import that Fn to the laptop without backlite support already?
Super important, laptop is a great deal but without backlite I won't buy it. :(

DELL INSPIRON 14Z BEEPING
Hi!
My DELL Inspiron 14z can't stop beeping (8 beeps every interval) after I turn it on. Although I know it's because my LCD just failed (saw it on the internet and it said: "8 beeps: LCD failure") but I really need my laptop right now for an audio design project and can't affort to send it for fixing until next month. Is there any other solutions just to stop the beeping? All I ever tried is muting the volume but as you can see, hearing what I'm doing is really important since it's audio design.
PLEASE HELP! :(

Do I have a Dell backup in my Dell Datasafe Local Backup ?
Hi, I'm trying to do a factory restore,but keep getting a failed message after it reboots.
It request using a windows disc,but I don't have a disc with the laptop ?
Has the backup been removed in the past ?
I bought the laptop around 5 months ago & feel it's a little slow for it's spec & so thought a factory boot would help get rid of all the rubbish on it.

4gb Ram
Windows 7 Home Premium
I don't even have a Windows 7 Home Premium disc for me to just wipe the whole HDD & start again.

Dell inspiron 5720 Replacing hdd with ssd
So i recent purchased a pair of Samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd, 1 for my desktop and one for my laptop. The hdd in my laptop gets really hot and its starting to stutter when im on my laptop so i wanted to replace the drive before it failed.
So i did the same process for both pcs, i attached the ssd via usb, cloned the os drive and uninstalled the old drives and replaced with the new. The desktop was no issue, soon as i booted it loaded no issues and didn't have to do anything extra. However for my dell 5720 it loads and takes me to the bios. I can see that the drive is recognized but it wont load past that and when i try it gets locked in the cycle of shutting down and resetting.
Are their any solutions to this problem or am i stuck with things the way they are? Also i was told that i could try a fresh instal of windows but since my laptop didnt come with that how would i go about getting one?

Touchpad on new Dell XPS 13 Early 2015 (9343)
So.. I just got my Dell XPS 13 early 2015 -- impressed for the most part. However, I'm finding the touch-pad unbearable for professional use.
It looks like the hardware is performing properly, however there are some driver issues. I think 99% of my problems and contemplation about returning this unit would be solved if there were a way to disable "touch to click". I find myself scrolling and accidentally clicking with the slightest touch of the touchpad. As a professional developer this is a deal-breaker.
I've has to re-write lines of (all night, starbucks) code when scrolling, accidentally selecting, then deleting and losing changes. If there is not Dell driver supporting this yet, I'm hoping a Dell rep can chime in to tell my the make and model so I can get this fixed asap. Like I said, deal-breaker and might return this if I cannot find a solution soon.
I've tried the BIOS update, ran the little Dell updates utility and all... but still not option to disable this "feature" or fine-tune the trackpad. :-(

N5110 not getting on
I purchased a Dell Inspiron N5110 in US in 2013. In January, suddenly system was getting switch on. I paid Rs.1400 for a dell engineer visit. He came to my house on 4th Feb and checked the system and told motherboard gone bad, need to replace it. He told company people will send a quote for the motherboard. But I did not get any communications from the company. Finally I called customer care and they informed me that they don't have that mother board in their stock and they told me that i have to get from other sources. Now I purchased that mother board from EBay and replaced it in my system. Now when I'm switch on my system, all lights are getting on and I'm getting 7 beep sounds without the screen getting on.
I request people to help to sort out this problem. Thanks in advance for your help....

Dell Vostro 1510 showing LED error codes...
Today when I turn ON my laptop, it didn'tstarted.
The power light is on, as well as the CAPS lock light & Scroll lock light is ON, and the NUM lock light is flickering (blinking).
After doing some search on internet, I saw a suggestion of re-seatingtheRAM. I removed the RAM sticks and re-seated them. But it didn'tfixedmyproblem!!
Please suggest me solution to this problem.

XPS 12 costant noise... and DELL response!!! PLEASE TAKE OUT THIS PRODUCT FROM THE MARKET... if you're still a serious company
I would like to report my ongoing experience with the buying of a XPS12.
I payed on december, and, since the first day i worked with it (on january), it made an annoying noise when in charge.
I immediately called the technical support, that reserved me a Technical intervention, consisting in the motherboard substitution.
No technic called me for 2-3 days...i recalled the Support, so they admitted that no motherboard were available at the moment, and that i have to wait for a week.
A week later... no one contacted me (surprise suprise)... the Support, this time, promised me to substitute the XPS12... but the procedure was approved only 2 weeks later...(i never knew why).
So... yesterday 04/03/2015, the new XPS12 finally was delivered me (it took almost 2 months of intervention).
The best part is yet to come... i lighted on the brand new XPS 12, i put it on charge and... the mother board is still a noisy one!!! (Even if a bit less)
Ok... the technical support confessed me that DELL is still unable to solve the problem, but that the problem is recognized by DELL (and who cares???), and that when a new motherboard will be produced (a new model they mean), i will have the right to have a substitution for free... AHAHAHAH
Are DELL kidding me???
THEY REALLY RELEASED ON THE MARKET A PRODUCT, AND THEY'RE STILL RELEASING, A DEFECTED PRODUCT??? What does it means... you're unable to solve the problem??? My money wasn't defected!!!
My opinion is now that DELL is pretending to be a "great multinational company", by plugging a lot of Fax machines around the world, calling them "offices", but that is unable to test their products... in the case i reported is evident that they didn't lighted up an XPS12 before launch the it on the market!!!
DO YOU SINCERELY THINK THAT A PRODUCT WITH A MALFUNCTIONING (yes, a noisy motherboard must be deemed as malfunctioning) CAN BE SELLED TO YOUR CUSTOMERS??? ARE YOU INSANE???

I can't select the botable drive into cd/dvd drive bcoz system security was lock, and I forgot the admin password. Inspiron 1750 Completely dead
Have 2 each Inspiron 1750 Laptops, AC power supplies and battery packs. Thus I can swap power supplies and/or batteries. One has completely died, I'll call it the BAD one. I can take either power supply and/or battery pack and all work well with the GOOD 1750. I don't think either battery or AC power source are the problem.
Connecting the power supply does NOT cause the LED on the computer to light.
Is there a seperate power control board where the power jack is located or is all this on just a mother board????
I removed the plastic trim and was able to check continuity of the power switch (ohm meter) test across 2 of the leads.....there are 4 leads on the switch. Other than switch contacts, I don't know what the other 2 leads are.
Is there a video on how to dis-assemble a 1750 laptop???
Any other suggestions......like a repectable repair shop??

Too much fan noise Dell XPS 13 2015
I am facing the same issue. The fan is always running and sometimes it gets so loud,its embarrassing. All I do is just use few tabs on chrome or Microsoft word. I Hope this problem is reviewed ASAP. Honestly I did not expect this problem from such a premium notebook.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron and it is a PIECE OF ***!!
I have never been so frustrated. I just bought this computer and have used it fewer than 3 days.
1. the internet is ridiculously slow
2. the computer starts up more slowly each time I turn it on - sometimes doesn't start at all and needs to be re-booted
3. the touchpad settings randomly reset themselves yesterday. Now when I try to click on "Click to change Dell touchpad settings" nothing happens, so I can not change them back to my preferred settings
4. sometimes the touchpad decides to stop working all together and I am stuck
5. the machine overheats after about 2 minutes of use.
This is an absurd number of things wrong with a brand new machine, and the diagnostic I just ran told me that the hardware is fine and all of the drivers are updated. It would be impossible for me to use this machine to do any serious work in the state it is in now. I am writing to the forum as a last resort, but I would like to caution anyone browsing to not buy this machine, or if you have recently bought it, return it now!
