I have a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop. Once my son spilled water on it. It works fine but started making crackling noise from the speakers. It crackles even if I am not playing any audio/vedio files. It keeps on making the noise as soon as it is turned on and conitunues to do so . It stops now and then. I tried using headphones but neither I can hear music from headphones nor it stops the crackling ,from the laptop speakers. The sound works if I connect thru HDMI cable to my TV. I tried running all the diagnostic tests online it says no problem with Audio. I reinstalled all the drivers, still does not work. Changed the speakers, but no success. It still makes the noise which is very very annoying. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

XPS M1530 laptop suddenly does not fully 'wake up' after sleep. It sleeps if left for a set time, but in the last few days has not woken up fully when a key is pressed, mouse clicked, etc. The screen is black but I can just see that my programmes are still open - too obscured to see the cursor to do a proper restart. Only cure so far is to hold button down to shut down laptop.  Tried reinstalling drivers (which are latest), no difference.  Checked logs - incomprehensible and do not permit copying. One error code I see is :

0x80041003

and text includes something like:

TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in ...............  because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

I have for now put power management time before 'sleep' to NEVER, but am concerned in case something is wrong that I should be fixing.

I already uninstall and restart my laptop. I also update other drivers of my ports but it none of them work. Please help me, what should I do?

My daughters Laptop was stolen this past Friday and we need the serial # to file the Police report.  She can’t find any paperwork with the serial #.  I purchased the laptop in 2013.  She gets emails and flyers in the mail from Dell, so we’re sure it was registered.  Can we get some help please?

I want to update drivers on my Vostro 3560 using the Dell Support page. But when I start the system analysis feature the scan fails. A flag says I need to install Dell System Detect, but I've already installed it (and reinstalled, to be sure). Why is Dell's system analysis failing? It makes it harder to find the drivers I need.

I realize this is the wrong portion of the forum, but I couldn't find the software and drivers section.

Here goes. I have a Dell Alienware 14 (Mid 2013) model laptop. I have recently come into possession of a 3TB Seagate external drive with a USB 3.0 connection. The issue I'm having is that the drive randomly disconnects and reconnects during the transfer of files from the computer to the Drive. I disabled USB selective suspend under the power options - no dice. I tried installing the eXtensible Host Driver and Intel Lynx Point HM87 Drivers (thought maybe they weren't installed for some reason?) - Still no. Does anyone know how to get this to work? I really don't want to keep trying to move files just to have the device disconnect. I'm sure this is really bad for the drive...

So I have this Inspiron 3521 that the harddrive went south on me. I replaced the harddrive and tried to use the recovery USB I created, but it failed over and over. I ended up having to install Win 8.1 from a Install USB to get the computer going. In doing so I lost the drivers and downloaded them from DELL and installed them in the order that was listed by Dell.

The three times I did a complete in stall of Win 8.1 the downloaded driver for the Networking failed when it came to the Bluetooth. It also tells me in the Management tool that the Net Work Controller drive is not installed but I can not find one to install. 

The Network adapter is the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and it is showing up in the network adapters and is working with hardwired network.

I has installed Win 8.1 three times and gone through the drive install in the correct order. I need some help figuring this out. The WiFi worked before the hard drive crashed.

Can anyone help me figure out why the drivers won't install and why I can't see the WiFi options.

For the past month (on my new laptop) when I boot up get a message w/ pane saying "a hardware component needs to be replaced"  and gives me a form re name, mailing info, e/m etc ...fill it all out .. correctly.. but it always says 'request ' didn't go through at final 'submit' .

Been doing it over and over... frustrating.

Can't seem to contact Dell re this issue.

Received unit in December 2014 and the rubber feet fell of one by one.  Surprised at this given Dells reputation.  Where can I obtain replacement?

Hi,

I'm dual booting Windows 8.1 and Gentoo Linux on my M3800 laptop. I wiped the original Windows 7 installation in order to install Linux, and then re-installed Windows 8.1 from the USB stick that came with the laptop.

After booting the WiFi does not work and 'rfkill list' on Linux reports the WiFi to be hard blocked. The Wifi switch (Fn + PrtScr) has no effect. When I suspend the laptop to RAM (sleep), and then resume, the WiFi becomes available (still no effect from Fn+PrtScr, but at least it works now and I can turn it off in Network Manager).

At first, I thought this was a Linux driver problem. However, now that I have Windows again, I discovered that I have the same issue on Windows, with exactly the same symptoms: WiFi unavailable after boot, becomes available after suspend/resume, Fn+PrtScr has no effect.

Just in case it makes a difference: I switched from Legacy to UEFI boot (no SecureBoot).

I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue.

Hi,

I bought this laptop today and I have noticed that A key is really hard to press. Sometimes when I press it, it makes the A type twice or three times. In games, the character goes slightly to the left (W, A, S, D controls) (Not always, but often). Also, when I press the A key, I cannot hear this specific sound that other keys make, it feels like the button is struggling to be pushed, and I'm not sure if I can fix it myself or if I should use my Dell next business day on site warranty support. Also, the touchpad is slightly above the laptop level. It can be gently pushed it but then it pops back out. The pop out is literally 0.1mm but it's definitely a problem.

The 4 partitions were changed and I need to reset the sizes to factory sizes.  Also is the last partition part of the RAID with the SSD?

Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Hi, I wanting to find out about the Dell Inspiron 15 7547, Are the keyboard keys on the laptop detachable and can it be placed back on? I need to clean debris that is underneath the keys.

I have the laptop set so that when I close it, it is supposed to hibernate.  It worked well until about a week ago.  Now when either I close it or manually set it to hibernate, it shuts down as always, but sometime later it turns back on by itself.  When I open it the screen is on.  How do I get it to hibernate properly again?

Anyone know where is the microphone on this 2 in 1 laptop. I put some sticky protector on this and people can't hear me properly when I talk. I'm wondering if I have covered the microphone.

my parents bought me a laptop a little while ago and i need to use a disk to download something for a class. i know i can open it because when i was doing something like moving around to get more comfortable it would pop open and id push it back in like you do any other drive thing. 

now that i actually need to open it, i just cant figure out how and ive tried everything that doesnt involve messing with the command prompt or anything like that. i thought it was spring loaded but it wont pop open

I can run other computers in the house and the internet is blazing fast. The Dell has just started to slow down (either Firefox or IE). It takes about 30 seconds to find a page and then another 30 to load. I've tried running software to detect problems and nothing helps. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hiall,

I have  Vostro 1700 that is playing up, this started some time back, a long time ago I decided to switch from the built on sifi card to and external 150Mbs wireless n dongle which then started to work intermittently with it ultimately failing, I thought it may have been the hardware so replaced it with another dongle, that didn't work.  In the end I decided to reinstall Windows 7, I upgraded to it from Vista in early 2011 and it was fine till the wifi issue started.  After the reinstall of Win 7 I got my wifi back - for about an hour then it disappeared again.  Nothing would work with the internal wifi card or the dongle. Today I popped in an Intel 6945AGN mini pc card with wireless n and booted up, nothing there, so I connected to the internet via an ethernet cabkle and downloaded the intel driver and config utility, installed everything and again no wifi is shown in network connections in control panel. I ran the diagnostis utility and have received the "wirelss hardware is not bound to the transport driver" error message.  I am now at a loss.  I have read loads of posts on this and it seems others have their wifi shown in control panel but I don't.

Any ideas anyone?
