Hey guys I have been having a bizarre issue lately and I need some help.

Basically for past like 3-4 days whenever I boot on my computer, as soon as I open a program it will freeze and the fans will rev up for like 10-15 secs. 

After that however it doesn't do it ever again its only when I first open something when I turn on my computer.

I don't know if I should be worried or not and it so, I would like to have it fixed if need be.

The A00 BIOS on the new XPS 13 (2015) 9343 doesn't seem to recognize the SM951 SSD at all in either UEFI or legacy boot modes. I cloned the 512GB PM851 that came with the XPS and imaged it to a 512GB SM951. The SSD works fine on my X79 desktop and gets the full PCIe 2-limited 1500MB/s read and write speeds, so it's not a problem with the SSD.

The Broadwell-U PCH supports PCIe AHCI SSDs, and a Dell support agent told me that the M.2 slot in this XPS is hooked up to PCIe and not directly to a SATA port, so this should be fixable in a BIOS update. The same Broadwell chipset used by this XPS is used in the Lenovo X1 Carbon (2015), which does support the SM951, and even has a model that ships with that specific SSD.

Should I ever expect a BIOS update that adds support for non-SATA PCIe AHCI SSDs, or was the support agent wrong (i.e. the M.2 is physically wired up for SATA-only)?

I need to add an Input Language "Portuguese (Brazil)" on my laptop that has a keyboard layout "United Kingdom (English)", in order to be able to type the Brazilian words that has special characters.

I don't want to change the "Windows Display Language", neither the "Region" and "Format of Date, Time and Numbers". These ones I want to keep as English - United Kingdom.

I have:

- Model: Dell - Inspiron 14 3000-Series
- Operating System: Windows 8.1 (32Bit) English
- Keyboard: UK/Irish Qwerty

If someone knows how to do this, I'll be more than grateful.

I gotten a power adapter off ebay and plug it in and it will power up the laptop but it won't charge the battery and the cpu it running slower now? When i turn it on a warning will popup and tell my i need to plug in a dell power adapter. The power adapter i am using is a after market but it's the right voltage and amps.I got a new battery too. It's a dell battery. I just wanting to know if it need a dell power adapter or is there something i need to do get the one i got for it to work.

Hi, I purchased this inspiron 15 3521 laptop last year, some times i am getting Windows login error as only blank screen after login, so at that time i need to format my C drive and need to reinstall, it happened thrice, so can you suggest me any solution and even mostly i like to know how could i verify my laptop is original?

My Vostro 1720 is now 5 years old.  It has had 1 replacement hard drive (crashed) and all the fluff cleaned out.  It's the best machine I have ever had.

Please can I have some guidance as to whether I should upgrade the existing machine or replace with a later model.

Spec:

Intel core duo CPU P8700@2.53GHz, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS, 17" Widescreen WXGA+(1,440 x 900), HD 320GB (used 92GB) Serial ATA FFS (7,200 RPM), Wireless 802.11 a/g/DraftN mini card.

Used for internet browsing extensively, send/receive emails, some work on photos (XN View), MicroSoft Money99, Above & Beyond 2001.  Used as a desk top replacement, connected to modem with cable (rest of the family use wireless)

Money99 has 20 years of my money records and A&B similarly a 20 year diary record, time management and alerts.

I am looking at Crucial BX100 512GB, Windows 10, a new modem (802.11ac).

I would welcome comments, no matter how expensive, to upgrade the existing laptop hardware and software.

I use a Nokia 1100, I don't do Twitter, Facebook or games.

Hi,

I have a Inspiron 15 7547,  its fairly new i got it for christmas.

I went to my dell or whatever it's called i saw that by bios needed an update. I thought it was necessery so clicked update. My Inspiron started updating, the fan was on max rpm working loudly. I waited about 10min, the progress bar/window did not change so i decided to take a nap. Ooo was I surprised when i woke up, the computer was on but then screen was black. I restarted the pc holding down on the on-off button. Now all I get after turing on the laptop is a balck screen.

Please help, my computer is still on warranty according to dell.com

I'm on a job in Europe, i need my dell for work. I'm forced to work with a  borrowed laptop. Is there anything i can do to fix this issue? Please help...

the adapter is getting very hot and i plan to replace it,

is there a power adapter greater than 130w(e.g 230w) that will fit with the laptop?

I am using Dell inspiron 15R 3521 laptop, operating system windows 8 64 bit. While i am connecting to internet via wifi, at first it is connected well but after few minutes it shows limited access,while other device still operated properly. I have already tried to install new drivers and changed the power management issue of the adapter, but still the problem is not solved. Please help me resolving the issue.

 I renamed 'new folder and then include in library (documents); put some files in it

start:documents : shows 8 locations ( one extra) OK

Trying to prove windows backup has backed up my new folder onto E: DVD RW

I cannot see the new folder's files

Assistance as to how to demonstrate

Would prefer to be able to chat  online rather than telephone support or email

I have done more investigation:

My renamed folder is c:\users\walter-beech\contacts\desktop\WACdsfo

My default (?) is c:\users\walter-beech\my_documents (I think??)

If I start restore and click users then walter-beech then contacts .. desktop .. WACdsfo   then I can see the files in WACdsfo. Does this mean I have not done the rename introduce library the way a trained technical (dell person) would do it? Does it also mean if I replaced a faulty disc and restored then these files in WACdsfo would get restored.      Can I get complete list of all files which would get restored from a given DVD RW disc (do not need or want to restore anything now.. just testing that it would work)

DELL COMPUTER PROBLEM 17R N7010
It gives turn on the computer but does not boot black screen.

19.01.2015 is given on but does not boot the computer, only the LED indicator is illuminated power, reset and boot normally.

01/23/2015 The computer turns off unexpectedly, given pressing the button on, but the computer will not boot, illuminated power bulb.

Communication with support DELL 01/24/2015; 1). check screen = power + "D" answer ok button;
2). Disconnect the computer power supply and battery removal, then press power button for 30 seconds to remove the static energy. 3). Connect the power cord and push button ignition; Answer: The computer boots normally.

01/29/2015 The computer was working normally when no signal any mouse or keyboard, display only seen in the window that was open at that time; I reset compute and light it again only the button is lit, the fan works, the HDD works when you turn it <3 seconds; I charge a disc to the DVD, listening to the DVD drive reads the disc but then stops, no response from the computer or emit any sound.

02/02/2015 disassembled the computer using youtube and manual DELL the team, sight unseen nothing unusual, just dust and fibers in the grid heat sink, which has already been cleaned.

02/18/2015 1). Prueva change botton stack; 2). Retirement RAM, answer: DOS = beep code is not detected any RAM. 3). Install new RAM memories, but are incorrectly inserted; computer response: FOUR beep code error = possible problem reading / writing of RAM. 4). I installed well again the RAM, there are no beeps. 5). with these prueva the computer still like to start = power on but does not boot black screen.

01/19/2015 I've seen some videos previous day speaking about and discuss the problem may come from the video chip. REFLOW WILL BE NECESSARY TO MAKE A or A REBALLING.

So I was having problems with the app store. It kept aging I wasn't the administrative account although I was the only account on the computer. So I decided to factory reset the computer thinking if I cleared it, it would work better. My display is broken and I was using a n hdmi cord to use it. No when I try to turn my computer on it flickers on like it's thinking then shuts off and restarts I can't get it to connect to the hdmi/tv and I'm not sure what to do. I'd like to not toss my laptop but I'm not sure what else to do.

I have Dell 1558 studio with five years warranty. I bought it September of 2010. Before two months my laptop had problem with graphics card. I went it to the company that I bought it. Unfortunately they sent it to a company for not warranty laptop in order to fix it. Now my laptop works okay but it makes annoying noise. They clean my fan but it still has the same problem. How can we fix this problem?

Hello,

I purchased a Inspiron 17 7737 unit.  It was my 1st experience with Win8/8.1 and I really dont like it.  I reverted back to a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit install.  I am having a terrible time locating the correct dell touch pad driver that allows for the touchpad settings console.  I am specifically looking for the touchpad software console that allows you to configure the touch pad click zones for the mouse buttons.  It was available on the windows 8 platform and it allows configuration of the touchpad whereas the 2 mouse buttons can be isolated from the touchpad so that when moving your finger on either of the mouse buttons, the mouse doesn't move - simulating them as physical separate buttons like older touchpads.

I have tried to use the windows 8/8.1 dell drivers but it issues the driver not signed error then reboots and the mousepad nor the keyboard will work and i have to restore windows to the point prior to the install.  I also tried the standard synaptics driver which had several configuration options but the mouse would stop working sporadically so I uninstalled it.

Any help or direction from someone would be greatly appreciated.

Well the problem is whenever i try to use my touchpad and keyboard at the same time the mouse cursor doesn't seem to move. this makes gaming impossible. can someone help me out?

Recently I installed civilization beyond earth my vostro 3550 but it crashed on start up. I went to systemrequirementslab.com where it said you need at least 256mb dedicated video memory to run this game of which I only have 64. I googled how to increase dedicated video memory and found an article describing hoe to go into your BIOS to change this figure. Since my graphics card has no dedicated memory the 64mb must be coming from my RAM but there is no way to change how much it can give up in the Dell BIOS. I am very new to pc gaming and graphics cards/processors so I need some help resolving this issue.

Is there any way to increase the dedicated video on my Dell Vostro 3550?

Hello. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R running Windows 8 with a touchscreen. About, 2 or 3 days ago, my mouse was starting to become somewhat glitchy all of a sudden. When I would move it, it would occasionly grab things along with it.

This morning, the computer's mouse was acting worse than usual and eventually stopped clicking things. It can move and right click but I am unable to left click and click. Luckily, I still have my touchscreen so I can finish things up.

I use the Touchpad, I do not use a USB mouse or whatever their called. I'm not very familiar with computer things and I scanned for viruses - nothing.

If I could get so help with this, i'd be great, thanks!

I assume its the coin cell battery (could be the motherboard), where can I get a replacement?  I don't want to send it in for repair since I just started my next semester of classes.

hello i try to run GTA 4 , but it is poor graphics( VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY POOR) and cant change the graphics options... i try to run age of empires 3 and it give me an error :
