Hi

I have a Inspiron 1545 that when I turn on it goes to login page but mouse is locked, so I can't login. Arrows dont work, tab etc.  Same happens when I start in safe mode. There is no options that I can see to do a restore.

I thought it might have been a battery problem as battery was on it's last legs, but I got a new battery and that didnt help.

I ran diagnostics, did all the tests etc and no errors were reported. In diagnostics the mouse/touchpad works fine. So I'm pretty frustrated!

Any advice would be fantastic.

My Dell inspiron keeps dropping the wifi connection with hte internet and can't regain it unless I restart the computer,  Just started after switched from DSL to cable internet.  Any input?

I have a 17r5721  laptop  that needs a motherboard. It died  last may   and been in the corner  ever since.

I cant seem to find one anywhere  I really  don't want to trash  this computer  theres got to be one someplace at a reasonable price   can anyone help me out.  My 1997 gateway isn't  doing to job anymore

Is anyone else experiencing poor battery life on the new xps 13?

I have the QHD 256gb I7 model. The battery time estimate jumps all over the place, just doing simple internet browsing. It's bad to the point where I just ignore the time remaining, it has however, gone down from 99% to 80% in about 45 minutes.

I own a 9333 and L322X, haven't had this issue with any of them.

Furthermore, this may be of interest to some, I found out that the reason they're naming this model "Early 2015" is because they will be releasing a newer "Late 2015" model using the new and improved Skylake Processor. Apparently the Broadwell processor is barely any better (3-4%) than the Haswell on the 322x. Not to mention, ALL of the broadwell processors on the 9343 are dual core, something that I regret to have only just realized.

In any case, my fellow 9343 owners, have any of you had issues with the battery?

hello guys,

i have laptop inspiron mini 1018

i have dual booted it having ubuntu 14.04 and windows 8.1

the problem started with battery. its battery is gone. I have to plug in charger every time for starting lappy.

when i plug out charger lappy immediately shuts down.

it some times shows date 2050,

now when i plug in charger it shows bootstrap for choosing os but after few second it shuts down automatically without plugging out the charger.

please guys help me out of this problem, as soon as possible

 I just got this lovely machine but the touch screen is not working, the model is 9Q33.  One thing I notice on the control panel  under system says " No pen or touch input is available for this display"

According to the specification the system is a full HD touch pad.

All suggestion will be gladly appreciated

I have a Dell inspiron 1545. I do not have the reinstallation disks. I know that once before I had the disks and did a restore but no longer have the disks. When I try to do a repair there is no option for restoring factory resets. Can anyone guide me here?  It is Windows 7

Well, I thought I would share my 2 cents and some results. I decided it was time to upgrade my HDD and Ram. I chose the Samsung 850 EVO SATA III SSD 500GB (x2) and Corsair Vengeance Performance 16GB DDR3 2133 MHZ (PC3 17000).

It was easier then you could imagine!!! Since we have 2 HDD slots, I pulled out HHD2 and inserted the first SSD. Samsung ships with a program called data migration and it was extremely quick and PERFECT! So I just copied C: to the new SSD. Then put both the NEW SSDs in, and just used and external case to copy from the original D: to the new D: drive. Everything went as smooth as possible!

Ram... well, after I installed it.. I realized we get no benefit going from 1333 to 2133MHZ (BIOS still shows 2133HMZ).. OH, well (wasted $40). But again, no issues, it was detected perfectly! I DO NOT have 3D, so I just have the 2 slots.

Test results... prior to doing this switch I actually already did a complete format/install last week. I did the windows experience index before and after. it went from 5.9 on the hard drive to 7.9, now my lowest score is 6.9 for the graphics. I also ran the PCMark 8 test and went from 2575 to 2769

Over all, it does seem a lot faster, especially on start-up is where I am noticing the biggest difference.

Latitude E6530

Win 7 Professional

Dell Command | Updates keeps on telling me to update BIOs form Version A09 to A16. It downloads and seems to install (is in the list of installed updates)... next day however it prompts me to do so again... same with Intel WiFi Driver 16.11.

Any ideas????

By the way: The dell web-site "Divers and Downloads" also des not really work (or am I too stupid?) It offers me a lot of updetas as recommended after analysis which - when trying to insatll - are older than the one installed ?

Hello all.

Just got my XPS13 with the FHD (1080p) display in.

I notice that if I look at something scrolling on the screen, like a news post when I am scrolling down to the next post, and the background of the site is white, there is an area to the left of center, maybe 3mm tall and 10mm long that is slightly darker than the rest of the screen.  And to the right of that area is a small 1mm circle that is a little brighter than the rest of the screen.  None of then can really be seen on static images.

Applying a little pressure on the area did make the darkness even out a little bit.  Not enough to bend anything or damage the screen though, just enough as if you had something stubborn on the screen to remove.

Is this normal?  I don't see anything on the screen, but it's almost like there is a smudge on the backlight maybe?  So maybe it just appears a little darker...

I don't have any dead pixels or anything so I am a little worried about getting a replacement with worse screen issues.  But is this abnormal and I should get a replacement now?

Hi,
I've got a bit old, but pretty awesome dell m6500. I'm thinking about upgrading CPU. Currently i've got i5 560m, but it's possible to find and buy an i7-740QM (from m6500/e6410 etc.).
However, if the CPU will fit?

Hi Team,

I am in a trouble. I had purchased the dell inspirion 15 7000 series, some 3 months back in USA. Now i am in india and my keys are not working. Both the customer service india and US are not helping. Can some one please help me in this regard? I dont knw how i should progress further. My problem is my keyboard is working abruptly.

Its bit strange that it that much matter on where it is purchased, rather than some one taking up responsibility and help to resolve. Its bin a 2 days n its yet tobe resolved. Can some 1 plz help.

I would like to get a magnetic stylus for my convertible laptop so that I can attach it to the laptop when not in use. Does anyone know if there are any risks associated with doing this? I believe that my hard drive contains magnetic heads but I am not sure if this would interfere with that.

I did all the test for my  inspiron everything came out ok

Then i get

Select proper boot device so i put the disk  the laptop brought

Then cd/dvd Drive  during this boot cycle is f:

A RAMDISK drive is avilable for this boot cycle as C:

It contains several hard drive  setup tools. Please use these tools under the direction

Of dell support staff.

I'm replacing the included HDD with a SSD, and would like to re-install the OS from scratch, NOT clone the drive (or attempt to).

Using the live chat I was told I needed to call support (who tried to coach me to go back to BestBuy and ask for a supervisor, unlucky for me none exist on Vancouver Island), who told me I needed to call sales, who then transferred me to an operator that told me I needed to use live chat because sales doesn't exist for consumers in Canada via phone.  The website tells me that my warranty doesn't allow live chat though.

Any links I managed to find no longer exist or are US only, so I've spent a few hours going around in circles unsuccessfully.

Bottom line, how do I acquire an OS recovery disc for an under warranty laptop, I'm happy to pay a little bit for it, just need to find the best way to go about this.

My inspiron 15 3521 stArted acting crazy a few weeks ago...it will randomly type caps when I'm not hitting the shift key or when I don't have caps lock on.

The number pad on the right side of the keyboard sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It will just all of a sudden start and stop working whenever it wants to.

NUMBER KEYS WILL WOrk SOmetimes (see how the keyboard is typing random caps sometimes?) - sometimes not. if they are not working correctly, they will type the symbols above them - even when I'm not using the shift or caps lock.

sometimes the only way to get numbers and letters to work properly is to actually hold down the caps lock key while I type. I can't just hit caps lock and have it work - I actually have to hold it down. 

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when this happens and it will shift back and forth between working and not working just randomly.

ALSO< (that was supposed to be a comma...typed as a less-than symbol), when I try to highlight a single word or sentence, an entire page will be highlighted. Again this is random - and is really frustrating when I'm trying to open a single file and the entire folder will open.

Any suggestions?

I've searched everywhere and don't seem to see this problem.

Hi there,

I have a top tier XPS 9530 (Late 2013 Model) and I just bought a Dell UP2414Q monitor and I'm trying to use it as an external display when connected to the XPS.

I'm not sure what kind of settings I should change, but I've set the UP2414Q to output using a DisplayPort 1.2, but I'm still not able to make it work on the full 3840x2160 resolution (not at 30Hz, nor 60Hz).

Could anyone help me with this?
