I Am Installing A New SSD Drive,More Ram,And A Completely Different And All New OS On My Dell Inspiron 910 Mini.

I Physically Know How To Install The SSD,And The Ram With No Problem.

I Have Ubuntu 14 On My Old SSD,The One Still In It Right Now.

I Am Putting Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 13 Bit  Using A Bootable Live USB Onto My New SSD.

I Dont Care About My Old OS Or Anything That's On The Old SSD.

What Steps Do I Need To Take To Make This Happen Before Removing My Old Existing SSD With Ubuntu As The Current OS,

And Then Upgrading To A New SSD,RAM,And Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 13 Bit Using A Bootable Live USB?

I Want To Do This Correctly The First Go Around : )

Any Ideas?

Hello there!

I have an Inspiron N5110 with a i7-2670QM processor. It's supposed to have the Turbo Boost technology. I tried to install the driver and the TurboBoost Monitor but the program shows the next message: "Installation cannot continue because this computer does not have a processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology capability". You can confirm on the Intel's web page this processor have this: http://ark.intel.com/products/53469/Intel-Core-i7-2670QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz#@specifications

My question is: How can I enable this feature with this problem?

I noticed that my XPS is no longer charging. I looked through the forums and found some posts where the adaptor just came back but mine hasn't.

I've taken off the cover and checked the DC power jack and power is coming through at 19.5 V at the jack and at the pinout onto the motherboard.

In the bios next to AC adaptor it says none.

Any help would be appreciated.

first post so sorry if i posted it in the wrong place..

Hi, so i recently bought a dell inspiron n1550 and I'm unhappy with the 64 mb of vram... and i read there isn't really a way to improve you vram other than replacing your video card. so I'm wondering if anyone knows if the video card is soldered to the motherboard or if I'd be able to replace it.. thanks for the help..

To whom it may concern my dell laptop started acting funky a couple of days ago then all of the sudden stopped working. I hit F12 to boot setup then diagnostics. When running the hard drive test I received the following....

Error Code 2000-0151

Validation 67564

Msg: Hard Drive 0 – S/N w04B2E91, incorrect status =3E

Smart Predictive failure

Can anyone help me so I can fix my laptop??

I've DELL XPS 15 L521x. 1 : i7 3632QM 2.2 : 12 GB RAM. 3 : 1 TB HDD. 4 : 32 SSD. 8 : windows 8

And when I play Starcraft || the fan gets loud and the CPU temp reaches to 75 C degree, is that normal ? or should i worry about it ?

I have an issue that I believe I know the reason, but lack the solution. 

When my laptop boots up, the touchscreen works, no problems, but I have it setup so that I can close the lid and nothing happens, the laptop stays running like normal, just the display is now off, I use a VPN and access my laptop remotely so the display does not need to be on. 

My issue is that when I then open the lid and try to use the touchscreen, it no longer is responsive, so I am assuming that the driver that is controlling it has shut off as the display was off and does not come back on with the display when the lid is then opened. 

Does anyone know what driver I need to alter in the device manager so that this driver does not switch itself off?

Hi, 

I have an issue where anytime I boot or wake up my laptop there is a loud alarm sounding beep that comes from my laptop. The beeps are 12 in total, two sets of five long beeps and then two together that seem to be the same sounding as the five but the boot interrupts them. 

So I think the beeps are a set of five it's just that the third set gets interrupted by the boot sequence. 

I have never made any changes to the BIOS.

I have not used my Alien 14 much as I save it only for gaming. I went to insert a DVD and nothing happens, it feels as if something is blocking it from going in. I thought something might have gotten in there from the kids so I looked inside. There is a small arm with a blue plastic peace on it. I figured it my be what the disk hits as it is inserted to activate the device to pull the DVD in. It seems to be locked in position not allowing the disk to go all the way inside.

Hey leute ich hoffe ihr könnt mir helfen.
ich habe vor ein paar Tagen einen virús auf meinem Inspiron 5523 entdeckt und habe den Pc mithilfe der recovery neu aufgesetzt, nur habe ich nun das Problem das ein bluescreen mit Fehlermeldung erscheint jedesmal wenn ich versuche den Laptop zu starten.
Die Fehlermeldung lautet:

Die recovery nochmal drüberlaufen lassen bringt nichts und im Internet hab ich bisher auch nichts hilfreiches gefunden. Der Microsoft Support hat mir auch nicht weiter helfen können da es sich ja um ein vorinstalliertes Programm handelt.

My Inspiron 5521 has an extended warranty, the battery however only has a 12 warranty which expired about a month ago, I get a message " Your battery has experienced permanent failure and needs to be replaced". The battery bar shows the message 71% available(plugged in, not charging), when the AC adapter is disconnected my notebook shuts down. According to the call centre the battery needs to be replaced. I noticed that the same problem was posted in Nov 2014, I've run the diagnostic test with the message Error Code 2000-0132, Validation 88191, Msg The battery is reaching the end of its usable life. The cost of replacing the battery is astronomical (I have the long life battery). My cheap no name notebooks have had battery lives of 4 years plus, obviously I made a huge judgement error in assuming that a "branded product" is better and like the previous post (Nov 2014) the question needs to be asked, does Dell manufacture products which last just until the warranty period has expired?

I'm starting to use my old Latitude XT again; which over the years I have upgraded to 3GB RAM, 90GB SSD, and Win8 Pro.  I'd like to run with a "Data Drive" via the SD card slot; and have been looking at fast high capacity SD cards, but am concerned how "big" of a card I can use.  64GB looks like the sweet spot for price and speed, but haven't seen any examples of anyone on-line using a card that large with this laptop.

Any experience appreciated!

My 13 yr old has a project which he must submit today on this laptop but it will not boot and I am staring at a blank screen.

I am hopeless with computers, I have figured out how to turn of the locked no.9 but have no idea how to remove the hard disk and try to reboot.

Wondering whether the child might have dropped the laptop??

What do I do??

Hi,

I have an issue with my new laptop. it's Inspiron 5537. I've installed Windows 7 - 64 bits. I downloaded all the drivers and installed them; made restarts when it requested so. All drivers installed successfully except Network_Driver_1T7DK_WN32_10.0.0.301_A01 as it gives unsuccessful completion; the error log states: vendor software return code: 7

What makes the issue worse is that the Ethernet Controller also not working and so I am totally isolated from the net as both wired and wireless networks are not working. I don't know whether it's a hardware issue or software since the laptop is new and I never tested its network features.

Please help!

Hello, just this morning I was still working on my laptop, although I did experience a slight decrease in performance. So I decided to turn it off and leave it off for a while. However when I wanted to try and switch it back on later, it just gave me 8beeps continuously. I cannot get past the beeping, it just shows a black screen. I am using a Alienware Mx17 Please, any advice will be appreciated!

I have bought A dell inspiron 15 3542 . it has 4 GB of ram, but I want to install an 8 GB ram. I am using windows 8.1 64 bit .

The question is if I install a 8 gb ram will it work? I mean will at least 7 GB will remain usable? currently out of 4GB 3.91 is usable which I believe is normal.

I used my laptop last night and put it on hibernate and it won't power up today , I have an inspiron 1564

I tried draining the flea charge and all hard reset and power+fn thing , nothing works

However the battery is charging (the led glows) and the adapter also has a fine blue light .

Help me please

I am installing a new SSD drive, more ram, and a completely different and all new os on my Dell Inspiron 910 mini. I physically know how to install the SSD and the ram with no problem. I bought this laptop less than 24 hours ago for college. When I first opened it out of the box, the battery was attached to it and as soon as I pulled it out it fell. I put it back on with zero problems, put the computer on the table, and started to set it up. About 30 minutes later the battery fell off again. I looked to see if there were any broken parts on the battery or on the laptop, but there were none I could find. I carefully put it back on and it hasn't fallen off since--but it is sort of loose. When I pick the laptop up, it isn't a tight fit, it's a little loose. It isn't drastic or majorly loose, but it isn't a really tight fit. I doesn't move around, it just hangs down just a little. I've never had a Dell product so I don't know if they're supposed to be really tight? This could be perfectly normal, I just wanted to ask :)

I have a Dell Latitude E6420 with 2 4GB memory modules installed.  It recognizes 8 GB of memory installed, but says I have only 3.16 is "usable".  Do I need to make some setting changes to increase the memory that is usable?
