I purchased the Dell Power Companion and it came with two 7.4 mm Power output cables, rather than including a 4.5 mm cable. I am thus unable to use this with my Dell new XPS 13.
There is no independent part # for the 4.5 mm power output cable, and my multiple discussions with Dell have proven unfruitful. They are unable to send me a 4.5 mm cable. Per my request, they sent a 7.4 mm to 4.5 mm adapter, but I still want the native cable. Is there any way I can get one??
Where can I get Quickset for my Inspiron 7520 SE with Windows 8.1 64-bit. I reinstalled Windows with the same version but now there is no Quickset on driver list, but I'm pretty sure I have it before.
i am using Dell Latitude e5440, if i click single /double qutoes two time only it is reflecting it in the screen.
i updated my Bios but also no use

I'm not sure my netbook even has the module on the motherboard yet to be able to install a bluetooth module, but I want to make sure I know which one to get if it does. Available drivers from Dell are for a 365 Bluetooth Card. I found a listing on ebay that said the part number from RM948, but that doesnt pull up anywhere on the Dell site. And the ebay listing does not specify my netbook in the listing. Are all 365 Bluetooth cards the same?
Am I better off just getting a USB Bluetooth dongle? It would cost a little more if I want to pick one up locally. Would it make a difference in transmission speeds and stuff?

I have changed the keyboard, no help. also when I turn on the computer I get a window that tells me that it is checking file system on D. The type of the file system is NTFS.

I have a dell inspiron 5423 and there are three keys in the corner (the top right shiny keys
) that used to do a certain action when you pressed it. The most important one to me was the one to the far right, which you could customize it's function. I set it to turn the screen off. Suddenly, after one of those pesky windows 8 updates, the keys just stopped working. They still lit up if I pressed on them but nothing else happened. I uninstalled the quickset driver and try to instal every quickset driver ever released but they all come up with the error "This Is Not A Supported System". Anyway to get these keys to start working again?

i have upgraded my system to windows 8.1, but some how my system is on windows 8.1 pro and it refuses to activate windows. can dell supply me with my previous windows 8 product key which came pre-installed on my laptop? how can i activate my windows 8.1 or return to the previous windows 8? sadly i din`t create a system backup disc before i upgraded so i cant use backup and recovery because i don't have a disk.
Trying to restore inspiron 1545 to the default factory configuration, the recovery/restore partition on the original hard drive was not working so I ordered the dell recovery & restore usb key based on my service/express code numbers. The order was received, Part # H3M2J - Dell Direct USB Recovery Key Win7 Home Premium 64-(KIT,SW,W7HP64,USB,WW,MUI,DT)
Pretty simple instruction steps to follow using this restore usb key, however during the initial process, it say "Platform not supported, the dell recovery & restore USB key may not fully restore your system". "Proceed Anyway" was the option given. I then call for support but they wanted me to pay for support since the above machine is out of warranty, I called for support for the usb key I ordered but encountered an issue with it saying " Platform not supported, the dell recovery & restore USB key may not fully restore your system". For the above reason, I was expecting support not for the laptop but for usb recovery & restore key. Am I missing something here?
Anyway, the technical support person said either I pay for support or connect me to a customer service for refund of the usb key.
I agreed for a refund, during the refund process, I wanted to understand why I am not able to get support for the usb key unless I paid to get support, but I was disconnected from Dell's end.
I did not get a call back, and I do not need unwanted stress hence I did not call again, by the way, I tried the "Continue Anyway" button and the process went through all the way to the end without any issues.
Is my system platform supported by this Dell Recovery & Restore USB Key? Even though it restored the OS after the above hiccup?

I ran an F12 diagnostic at the Dell logo, and the harddrive test came back with this message:
Msg: No Hard Drive detected
I was simply minding my own business, and my computer began making this clicking, metronome-style clicking sound.
Any help please. This harddrive contains files I have not backed up in the past month.

I am writing regarding an issue with the Studio 1537 touch media buttons. Unfortunately the newest QuickSet isn't offering the option to set the functionality of the buttons as it opens the mobility center and they aren't listed there.
All the buttons (pause, stop, forward, eject, sound) are working, except the Launch of the Media Player on the left.
I bought the laptop with Vista preinstalled and it had the Media Direct then. Now I am not sure if it is supported anymore. Anyway at that time the Media Button launched Media Center and there was some way to configure it.
Now I have WIndows 8.1 and I don't find a way to set it to open the Media Player. Is there any way to do it? Some registry tweaks or even software, or firmware updates?

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R (5720) w/win 7 pro, crucial says it maxes out at 8192 MB. It seems to be running (processing) slow, so I want to increase memory. The OS is fairly fresh so it shouldn't be bogged down.
I also have a XPS 17 (L702x) many in the forums have tried and successfully added 16GB even thou Dell says it also maxes at 8GB.
Has anyone here tried installing 16GB in a 17R, and did it show all 16GB and function properly?

I get a latitude e5510 from a public surplus auction from one of the city of houston depts, it looks like has windows business vista installed, but I dont have the password, it is under a domain, I dont care too much to get into the current system, actually i am trying to install a fresh win 7 OS (I have the license for that) but my problem is: when i try to install win7 on the hard drive, the installation process do not show any hard drives, well it show only 320 mb (MB) of hard drive, but the actual hard drive is a 250gb, does anybody know how to reformat the hard drive in order to install the new OS? Im not sure if was created using a Raid or the dell disk management or if they use another driver to do the original install, any ideas on how to install a fresh OS on this hard drive?

How hard it is to check the connection cables to the hard drive? Is the information on the hard drive recoverable?
I have a Dell Precision M4800 and have been having touch pad issues constantly since I got it in August. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing new drivers and even had hardware replaced twice (palm rest and touch pad and motherboard). However, the computer never registers the drivers, and the only way a cursor will show up is if I have a USB mouse plugged in. Also, the only pointing devices listed in device manager is the USB mouse, it never lists touch pad as an option.
If anyone has had this problem or has any ideas on how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello, today I opened my Laptop (I did it one time before) to clean it and add some thermal paste. I have the M1210 that does not come with the Nvidia GPU. After cleaning it and connected it again, I have one problem. The power led stays on for about 5 secs then turn off and nothing happens. I've tried the FN+Powerbutton and the power led plus three more leds stay on for the same 5 secs. Any suggestions?

One of the hinges on my Inspiron 11 (3147) is stuck so that it no longer turns as I open the screen. It is lopsided in the standard laptop configuration and it is impossible to open all the way to either the stand-up or tablet modes. Nothing appears to be broken and I did not drop the laptop. I just took it out of my bag this morning and the hinge was stuck.
Has anyone else seen this before? Is it possible to fix on my own? Thanks!
My mouse stopped working on my Inspiron n7110 laptop .I tried two
another mouse and they didn't work. my touch pad is working.
Warranty is up and screen hinge broke. Screen separated from base and no longer works. I was wondering if this is something easily repaired or if I should consider purchasing a new laptop all together. Any advice would be appreciated. Attached are some pictures of it.
