On pressing the power button the keyboard lights up and after a few (5-6) seconds the machine starts beeping at regular intervals of about 3 secs , the monitor remains completely blank (black) giving no signs of life. with power supply connected the front led shows amber, with power supply disconnected the front led shows white.
Some suggestions?

I have an inspiron e1705 and when I push the power button, the back light illuminates and lights on the keyboard are green but I get no post beep or video. I plugged it into a vga external monitor with the same result. What could be the problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just got my new xps 13.
Hated win 8, therefore i got a clean install of win 7.
However, i could not get the driver to be installed for INTEL 7650 DUAL BAND.
It seems that the driver Dell provides is for BIOS A01, however, the new xps 13 is currently on A00 and there is no upgrade to A01.
Furthermore, I tried drivers from the Intel website and other supporting drivers.
None of them worked.
Could someone please help me with this issue?
By the way, the new xps 13 is so light.
My 15R 5537 harddrive is completely broken. I do not have recovery disks - silly me - and the automated recovery wont work because its truly toast. So since the rest of it is fine I have 2 questions:
(1) What replacement hard drive should I purchase - am thinking whatever was in it but not from Dell?
(2) How do I most easily reload everything from Windows 8 etc. up? I understand the Windows license is hardwired onto the Motherboard but how can I take a new blank harddrive and get it back to a vanialla Dell/Windows 8 setup without losing my mind?

Hi - I have a dell 5010 and it went black screen as I was using it. I powered it down by holding the power button and then tried to rebot. The laptop power led goes on, the hard drive led flickers once and the fan goes on but slow. The screen stays black and the laptop does not booth. It then sometimes bleeps times over and over. Is it dead? How can I fix this or at least recover the data in the hard drive? Thanks
My Dell Inspirion 15 (5547) laptop is partitioned with Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04. I partitioned them about a month ago and they have been working perfectly. Today I booted Windows up, after using it only half an hour before just fine, and it said something went wrong and had to try rebooting. When it rebooted, it tried to run automatic repair, but just black screened. When I ran ePSA, I got error code: 2000-0142. On the Dell page, this tells me I have a critical hard drive error and have to replace it. But, I am still running Ubuntu just fine off the hard drive so do I really have to replace it or is there anything I can do to repair the Windows partition? Ubuntu tells me that the Windows partition is running in an unsafe NTFS mode. Thank-you.

I ran Dell diagnostic no problem detected. Drivers are up to date. Checked registry value is set to 3. Flash drives not detected on any port. Dell technical support in India is hopeless totally ignorant their technical knowledge is abysmal. Wonder someone in community can help!
None of the ones on eBay seem to come with the center screw, which I just so happen to need since the old one was completely stripped. Any ideas as to where I can get one? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

2) Motherboard with integrated Intel graphics
My Query :
- If i have purchase and replace my board with "Motherboard with integrated Intel graphics" Is this supportable to my laptop or not
- My laptop support motherboard without integrated graphics card (If yes let me know Hardware part no, name)

A while ago I had the (old) Embassy software that managed fingerprint and smartcard access. And I had both working.
Now, when I try to enroll a smartcard I get a strange error (RN: 020000C0) and I could not find anything about it over internet.
I would appreciate some advice regarding this issue.
Just got this in yesterday and I love it. I want to buy a SSD drive, but I have no idea what size would fit in here.
Also, what about a windows restore? I don't see any options to bring up the bios on the splash screen. So I don't know if there is a hidden partition or not. When I get the new drive I will need to figure out how to restore windows. Unless I can mirror this drive somehow onto the SSD?
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 running Windows XP. Recently, I have noticed something odd going on. When the laptop is unplugged, the battery light on the laptop turns red, but in Windows it shows that it is still plugged in (taskbar icon shows "On AC Power"). When I open the Power Meter app, it shows that the battery is not present and the current power source is AC power. Despite all this, the laptop still functions while unplugged.
If I remove the battery and press the button to show the battery meter, it shows fully charged.
Is this an issue with Windows or the laptop? How can I fix this issue?
The biggest issue is that I cannot see the power level in Windows, and I'm guessing that it will not warn me when the battery starts to run low on power.

The Trackpad on this laptop is become really unusable. The cursor is jumping around when you lift your finger from the trackpad. I am finding it very difficult to use Photoshop and cannot do anything precise which is ironic as this is a precision touchpad. There is nothing precision about it.
Please Dell fix this. For me this is the only thing holding back the best Ultrabook ever made.

I purchased one Dell 3147 and installed Ubuntu on it. However, when I fold the laptop to tablet mode. The keyboard is disabled automatically. However, the touchpad is still enabled.
That's so weird, does it mean keyboard disabling is hardware controlled but touchpad isn't? This is unacceptable!
How can I make it work in Ubuntu or other linux distribution? Please help

I buyed second-hand latitude d 630 without any documents.
fev days ago i got windows crashed cuz of 86 viruses in system
I used dr.web Cure It and he asked me to restart windows to finish fixing problems
but after restart i got the massage that windows cant load and it started searching and fixing problems automaticly but it didnt helped.
In some ways i formatted C and D sectors of HDD and wanted to reinstall clear windows os but iv got msg thet some files cant be copied from dvd room to c/windows~(something like that), (HDD already formatted)
Then i decided try it later and shooted down laptop.....omg...
NOW there is Unlock setup and admin password setttttt in bios and i cant run windows install from dvd disk
The reason that i used dr.web previosly is i couldnot reinstall clear windows from bios cuz of passwords.
Now i cant do nothing with it:when i press laptop power button im just seen the msg:

I was wondering whether anybody could instruct me on how to use ImageX to recover the recovery partition on a Latitude 2100 as well as a Vostro 1720 as I want to restore them back to factory settings and can't access the recovery partition on each system via the normal way i.e. on boot.
