Dell Inspiron 15 Windows 8 Dell Digital Delivery problem.

I just got my Dell Inspiron, with Windows 8, a few days ago off Fingerhut. Okay, I was trying to download something off the internet and a thing popped up talking about Dell Digital Delivery, I thought it was some pop-up, so I declined it. I then attempted to download a program on Google Chrome and it redirected me to a page saying that I could download something because of my Antivirus/Firewall. So I changed the settings on both, McAfee & Firewall. Then, I researched it and restarted my computer, THEN it also said it may have something to do with my Dell Digital Delivery. So, then I proceeded to download the Akai thing, Download manager, and all this other crap. When it came to the final stage of actually downloading the Dell Digital Delivery it said a file wasn't found while extracting a thing, so it added a file into my DELL --> Drivers, and then after it did that, it went to the finalization and said that there was an error with the file. UGH! So, I went into Control Panel --> Uninstall programs and Dell Digital Delivery was on the applications list, but when I right clicked it, it said "Uninstall, change, repair" I then right clicked everything else and none of them said "repair" so obviously somethings wrong. Then I clicked on the "Help/Support" link that redirected me to the Dell website, and every time I click on something that looks like it would mildly help my problem, it would say "Thread not found, try again later." I am very very very upset, and nobody else seems to have my problem or an answer!!!! PLEASE HELP! And people said that if you restart your computer, the Dell Digital Delivery automatic install thing should pop up, but it hasn't.......

XP Home / Pro Accident and Service Tag not recognised

I recently reformatted my Dell Dimension 5150, bought new ~2007. I used the original sealed Reinstallation CD but accidentally installed XP Home instead of XP Pro. When I tried to activate the Windows, I was told it was an invalid copy (as the activation number referred to XP Pro). After about 1 hour online the Customer Support rep told me I would have to reformat again and load XP Pro. However, when I use the reinstallation CD, it now does not give me the option of XP Pro, only XP Home.

Is there somewhere that I can access to give me the option of XP Pro ?

My Service Tag etc is also not recognised so I can't email for support !

This is a genuine OEM PC with a genuine OEM sticker and a genuine OEM Reinstallation disc.

E6430: What to do if harddisk is crashed?

Hi all,

I recently have the Dell E6430 (Ordered in the Dutch Dell store) and it's a great machine so far. I have 2 questions:

1. No recovery disks are included. What to do in case when my harddisk crashes and want to do a clean install on a new harddisk?

2. The laptop came with Windows 7 Professional. Normally there should be License label with a key but my laptop doesn't have a license label. Is this normal? I am asking this because in the case my harddisk crashes i could use a windows 7 professional install disk and use my Windows 7 Pro license which belongs to the laptop.

Thanks in advance.

Question:
Dell Windows 7 password reset HELP! I forgot my only administrator password on it. Now I’m locked out of it. I don’t want to format it or lose anything!

Answer:
Nothing to worry about when you forgot Dell password. 3 things you can do Windows 7  password reset on Dell laptop and get back in your computer:
1. Remove the forgotten dell password.
2. Change Dell password to a new one.
3. Create a new admin account on the dell computer so you can log into it again.

What you’ll need?
1.
Windows Password Unlocker Enterprise edition
This utility allows you to create a boot Dell password reset disk in seconds. With the burned boot disk, you can easily reset forgotten administrator and other user passwords on your Dell Windows 7 computer in 3 ways mentioned above. It also works for Windows Vista/XP and servers.
2. A USB flash drive or CD/DVD
The device is required to create the boot Dell password reset disk. USB drive is highly suggested as CD drive will be required for CD/DVD.
3. Another PC that you can run as administrator.
The PC is needed to download and install the Windows Password Unlocker tool . Any Windows-based computer will be OK as long as you can run it as administrator.

Time required:
About 5 minutes, no matter how long or complicated the forgotten password is. Whether you are a novice or advanced user, you can easily reset the forgotten Dell password in a matter of minutes as long as you can follow our guide.

Overall steps:
Step 1. Download and install Windows Password Unlocker in any PC.
Step 2. Create a boot Dell password reset disk with CD/DVD or USB drive in seconds.
Step 3. Reset Dell password with the burned password reset disk within 3 clicks.
3 options will be available:
1. Remove the forgotten dell password.
2. Change Dell password to a new one.
3. Create a new admin account on the dell computer.

In addition to the Enterprise edition, Windows Password Unlocker also comes in Standard and Professional editions. The two editions only allows you to remove forgotten Windows password, but at a lower price.

My new laptop takes far to long to boot and I cannot find the problem.
I have copied and pasted the boot times from Event Viewer.
This is one of the more recent Boots:
Windows has started up:
Boot Duration : 242994ms
IsDegradation : false
Incident Time (UTC) : ‎2013‎-‎05‎-‎27T09:28:36.702800400Z
This is the very first Boot as far back as it goes:
Windows has started up:
Boot Duration : 106834ms
IsDegradation : false
Incident Time (UTC) : ‎2012‎-‎09‎-‎28T10:15:19.687200300Z
Both are extremely long, especially the more recent.
I have updated to the latest BIOS A14 to no effect.
Any assistance is appreciated as it is getting very frustrating.

L502X keyboard not working

Hi all,

I have a problem with my L502X laptop. I have bought it as a second hand and had to fix it. I'm afraid that while dismantling the heatsink I have damaged the graphics card. There is a slightly snapped edge on the vga chip. I put it back turn it on and all work except the keyboard. Does anyone think that I have seriously damaged the vga and this the reason why the keyboard is not working? The slot for the keyboard looks good. Cheers

Scratches appeaing

I bought this M14XR2 laptop about 4 months ago in preparation for running CAD programs in college, so I need this computer to stay with me for a couple years. I noticed some scratches about a month ago, but I figured I must have not been careful enough with it. However, the scratches appear to be spreading horizontally, and I've noticed they seem to match up exactly in place with ridges on the keyboard. Am I doing something wrong, or does this laptop have a problem with scratching itself? The scratches have grown to the point where a few are highly visible no matter what I am doing on the computer. I would like to find some way f removing them.

My M5010 has to be started three times

A fault has developed on my two year old M5010. When powered up the first time I get a black screen and strings of 7 beeps. Turned off and on again I get a flashing cursor but nothing else happens. Turned off and on again it boots up normally and goes into windows 7 ok. I have read that 7 beeps indicate a motherboard fault so I am probably lucky it still works at all, but for how long? This seems to be a known common fault with this model so Dell should have some responsibility but my attempts to email them just lead me round an endless loop. Any advice would be welcome, especially some direct contact from Dell.

dell n5110 screen problems

I have a problem with my dell n5110 LCD screen.  All of a sudden the screen went totally white. If I move the screen around a little bit, I can get some of the display back but not 100%. I connect the laptop to an external monitor and everything looks OK while the laptop screen is messed up.

My question is whether or not the problem is with the LCD display cable or the LCD screen itself.  Any tips would be helpful.  Thanks!

Windows 7 startup black screen

$

I have a Dell XPS 15Z with windows 7 and a Nvidia GeForce GT 525M graphics card and ive been experiencing the black screen at startup straight after logging in which takes around 3-5 mins to clear to my desktop. This has been happening for some months and i haven't really been able/had time to find a solution.

I tried looking at Event Viewer to see what was failing at startup and it seemed that something to do with the graphics card is the problem. Tried System Restore but it was too late to go to a point that far back. I have posted on the Nvidia forums however I've been redirected to the Dell Support Forums.

I have tried the suggestions from my previous post  on http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19497323.aspx such as startup programs with msconfig, uninstalling and reinstalling graphics cards, TuneUp utilities but none have worked.

However the problem does not seem to occur at all if i create a test account and log into that, it actually boots perfectly straight into a workable desktop for the test account. So the problem is only limited to my account which is a admin account and was the only account on the laptop before i created the test account to check. Hopefully this narrows it down a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Many thanks in advance,

shane_mann1

XPS 13 won't boot properly.

I'm having the same issue and the dell tech support guy I spoke with was less than useless.

The laptop was bought in November last year and has worked fine up until this morning. It powers up no problem, the keyboard lights up an the fan starts as normal, I then get to the dell logo but then it goes blank (not black) the only thing that lights up is the f12 boot image but when I press f12 nothing happens.

The dell advisor I spoke to asked me all of 4 questions before concluding it was most likely a game I had installed 2 weeks ago on an external hard drive (since this was the last thing I'd downloaded...) the solution offered was to pay £130 to re-purchase windows 8, since I paid over a £1000 for the laptop less than 6 months ago and it is still very much under warranty I told him where to go.

Any advise on how best to proceed would be appreciated, I have an older laptop I can use to download updates etc onto a usb if that's the best option or even a number for a technical advisor whose dealt with this issue before hand would be appreciated.

Thanks

XPS L702X

If you are thinking of buying or currently own a Dell XPS 17 (L702x) good luck. I purchased my laptop in march 2012 and I personalized the purchase for high end performance. I have had nothing but trouble, pain and suffering, from this unit. I teach technology classes and needed a laptop that could do animation, programming, and video/audio. I thought this unit would be perfect for what I needed to accomplish and so I would not have to live at my campus to prepare lessons and practice using new developments in software. I wanted to spend more time with my family but instead I now spend time trying to get the lemon either fixed or replaced.Since purchasing the laptop I have had to have the DVD R\W replaced 4/29/2012,  wireless adapter and motherboard 3/11/13, motherboard and wireless adapter again 4/2/13, motherboard(again), speakers, and power chord 5/22/13, motherboard(again), keyboard and god only knows next 5/23/13. So far I have had a grand total of 4 wireless adapters, 4 going on 5 motherboards, speakers, DVD writer/reader, power chord, and coming up keyboard replaced on this unit. Still Dell has not replaced the defective unit. I wonder how much money they are willing to sink into this project before they realize it would be cheaper just to replace the unit with a new one. I also hope when the service tech order my keyboard he knew it was back lit or they will be sending another one. I am sincerely upset about everything that has occurred and would like to know if anyone else has experienced such catastrophic results with this particular unit. Did they finally resolve your issue or am I doomed to this for another 3 years?

Help me understand Dell.

Latitude E6430u with WIGI card, wireless does not work

Hi there,

I have a problem with one of our client's laptop.  Basically the laptop has a WIGI card installed to be able to connect to the D5000 docking station.  The problem is that it cannot connect to a Wifi network.  Not only can it not connect to a Wifi network the Wireless adapter cannot be found.

I've tried installing every Wifi driver that was recommended by the Dell site but none of them can actually be installed since the Wigi card is there and not a Wifi one.  Does anyone have any clues as to why this doesn't work?  Or how to I go about enabling the Wifi adapter in the laptop.  Thanks in advance
